ufc 86 medical suspensions
Lacerations were the name of the game at UFC 86: “Jackson vs. Griffin” at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, this past weekend.

Or as Joe Rogan so eloquently put it in the fight between Josh Koscheck and Chris Lytle … a goat’s vagina.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) recently issued its medical suspensions for the pay-per-view (PPV) event that took place on Saturday, July 5, revealing that Forrest Griffin, Chris Lytle, Cole Miller and Justin Buchholz all got cut and will need to take some time off to heal.

It was also no surprise that former light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will have to undergo a battery of tests on his left leg before he can return to action.

Here’s the complete list of injuries and their medical instructions:

Forrest Griffin –- The new champion must clear a right upper eyelid laceration with a doctor or there is no contest until September 4.

Quinton Jackson – “Rampage” must have his left knee, tibia, fibia and thumb x-rayed and cleared by an orthopedic doctor or there will be no contest until January 2, 2009. He will have to ride out a minimum suspension until at least August 5 and there is no contact allowed until July 27.

Josh Koscheck -– He will have to serve a minimum suspension until August 5 for undisclosed reasons.

Chris Lytle — Lytle will have to have his right eye lacerations cleared by a doctor or there is no contest until September 4.

Marcus Aurelio –- “Maximus” must have a possible left thumb ligament injury cleared by orthopedic doctor or he will be unable to compete until January 2, 2009. His minimum suspension (no contest) will last until August 5 and contact is prohibited until July 27.

Justin McCully –- “The Insane One” must have his left shoulder cleared by an orthopedic doctor or there will be no contest until January 2, 2009.

Cole Miller -– He must have facial lacerations cleared by a doctor or there will be no contest allowed until September 4.

Jorge Gurgel –- He must have his right tibia, fibia and elbow x-rayed and cleared by an orthopedic doctor or there will be no contest allowed until January 2, 2009.

Dennis Siver -– He is suspended until at least August 20 and there is no contest allowed until August 5.

Justin Buchholz -– He must have a scalp laceration cleared by a doctor or there will be no contest allowed until September 4.

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.

Wow…I hope Rampage’s leg isn’t messed up that bad. If he isn’t able to compete until 2009 that would suck.

He better not be that hurt because he has to f_cking redeem himself bigtime with a re-match grrrrrr.

I watched the fight with my father-in-law who is a big fight fan but a MMA novice. I was commenting on how any minute Rampage will explode and destroy Forrest. What a tool and novice I looked to my Father-in-law, thanks Rampage, and thanks for the f_cking nickname I have for a WEEK.

Just a week, starting from today, JV :(

Auto-

Much respect to you for sticking to your word and changing your name.

You have integrity.

There should be an unofficial rule for the know-it-all posters.

“Rampage will kill Griffin”

“Only noobs think Griffin stands a chance”

“I have a billion dollars on Page, take it to the bank!”

Blah, blah, blah…

sorry for boring you guys with my excitement of going to vegas the past couple days…just never been. I gotta go to the airport in an hour to get my dad,but Here’s a regurgitated

TUESDAY MORNING CONVERSATION WITH KEVIN:
.

The best quote I heard was “The UFC will never put on a stacked a card as affliction.” Can I let you guys in on a little secret…affliction has NEVER put on a card yet, and when they do, big names don’t necessarily make big fights. So I called my buddy doc Brown, and we hopped in his delorian to go to the affliction card. Surprise surprise:
Arlovski wins
Babalu wins
Barnett wins
linland wins
We had to leave just before Fedor/Silvia, so you guys have one fight that I won’t spoil for you. So here’s todays challenge. Besides saying “because it’s fedor” give me one good reason to buy this event. 2-3 years ago, the mystique that is fedor would have sold it to me, but not this time. By the way, aleks emelianeko isn’t that great guys. He’s always out of shape, and is almost Russia’s version of Kimbo, but white and will actually fight top guys. Have a good day!

I wouldnt be too sure about that Arlovski fight Kevin! Should Arlovski be the Favite? Absolutely! But if Andre fights the way he has fought recently, he could be in trouble because althouigh Rothwell Lacks skills that Arlovski posses, Ben is a mean S.O.B, that has some decent power who will not be Gun Shy! He is going to go after Andre leaving to option for the former UFC champion, FIGHT BACK like the pitbull of old, or get KTFO….Rothwell didnt look good against Ricco, but I am sure that Ben Realizes that this is the opportunity of a life time for him so I expect to see the best version of Rothwell!

I like Arlovski, but I wont touch that fight! I wonttouch the Buentello/Aleks fight either, because as much as I love Aleks, he is very unpredictable, too much to lay $ on.

i AM PROBABLY GOING TO DO A bIG pARLAY WITH:
Babalu/Nogueira, Take Fedor and Barnett straight, parlay them…and maybe bet a small amount on Lindlands opponent because he is a huge dog, and I have seen Lindland loose by submission a many times through out his career….And Lindland cant bus a grape so his opponent should have plentty opportunities to submit him! mat “the skiunk” Lindland is going DOWN!

see that, John couldn’t even give a reason to buy it.

by the way, rothwell isn’t that good, arlovski will win this one in the 1st!!!

Kevin: sometime I dont get u! Enjoy your crappy little UFN of July 19th, I will be watching Affliction…Its real petty of you to try to diminish what Affliction is doing it with out ever seeing an event from them 1st.

I hardly care about UFN…. Silva I will watch….and I will Hermes fight. Vera vs. a bum…I dont care too much about, and Rumble will make it quick anyway!

Because I even want to see Savant Young vs Mark Hominick. Savant should have a weight/stregth advangate, but Hominick is a very technical striker.

But for my one reason, its simply, and you said it yourself = FEDOR VS TIMMY. We FINALLY get to see what Fedor is made of and where he stacks in the current HW roster of fighters.

Also, I gotta take Johns side for the Arlovski fight. Andre winning is not a guarantee, but definitely a favorite. I have yet to see odds on this fight on BetUS or BoDog.

And John, I am betting on the Aleksande/Buentello fight. I’m betting on the HEad Hunter +275. I give him a much better chance that Nagao, or whoever that dude Lindland is fighting…

Butt F*ck, what do I know? I had Rampage as a GUARANTEE… Since Eddie Alvarez ain’t fighting till the end of the month, I’m going to have to actually deposit money into my rich $7.55 BetUs Account….. LOL

Dont ask me what to do……I had Rampage as well! lol DAMN IT!!!!!!!

Nagao is given much better odds.

To beat Aleks, you have to be able to with stand the initial Storm….Alekls starts off like a tornado, if Buentello can withstand it Aleks will probably gass and the Headhunter would have a chance….But weathering the initial storm against that ANIMAL is easier said then done!

KOS’s “undisclosed reasons” are probably getting blood work results back from the lab to make sure he didn’t contract something from Chris Lytle! My guess is the UFC saw all that blood and they decided to take a few extra measures just to find out and make sure everything is A-OK.

Crowds in Arkansas came for the lure of cage fighting and $1 beer, but police say what they got instead was men ripping each others’ clothes off and kissing — a stunt suspected of being orchestrated by Sacha Baron Cohen of “Borat” fame.

“We had a contract for cage fighting. We were deceived,” said Dwight Duncan, president and CEO of Four States Fair Grounds in Texarkana, where the first of two Arkansas fights raised suspicions last month.

Matt Labov, a Los Angeles-based publicist for Baron Cohen, said he had no comment Monday about the faked fights. One of Baron Cohen’s movies is due out next year.

The day after the June 5 Texarkana bout, Fort Smith’s convention center hosted “Blue Collar Brawlin.’” Fort Smith police Sgt. Adam Holland said organizers told him a character named “Straight Dave” would goad a planted audience member into the ring for a fight.

The two men would then wrestle, rip away some of their clothes and share a brief kiss reminiscent of one between Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell in the film “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.”

Producers said “there would be a romantic embrace,” Holland said. “They said it was kind of to essentially make fun, poke fun at wrestling — two guys rolling around on the floor, all sweaty.”

An elaborate array of mounted and handheld video cameras caught the crowd of 1,600’s reaction as the two men “went right up to the line” of the city’s morality laws, Holland said. The two men stripped down to their underwear, kissed and rubbed on each other, the sergeant said.

The audience, as well as local fighters drawn to take part in the show, became enraged. “It set the crowd off lobbing beers,” Holland said. “They had beers in plastic cups. Those things can get some distance on them actually.”

Hahahahaha. Only Sacha could mastermind something like that. Where did you find that article? If the next one is anywhere near as good as the last one, I’m definitely going to see it.

I could see something like that happen at an EliteXC event on CBS. There events are a joke as it is anyways. And CBS is due for another run-in with the FCC here sometime soon ( the Janet Jackson incident).

Rematch…..LOL. there is no rematch. Next fight is Forrest vs. Liddell. Liddell will earn it by having the fight of 2007. And then beating the undefeated Evans. Then let rampage fight Chuck. Winner takes on the division, loser leaves town.

I usually say to get a rematch, you gotta earn it. Like with GSP, he had to earn his rematch with Serra. So if anyone wants a rematch, earn it. One exception that I can think of off-hand is Lawler and Smith. That deserved one.

Jorge Gurgel must have his haircut and eyebrows cleared by someone with testicles or there will no contest for a long time.
