I can not believe that Jorge got caught… with 13 seconds left… makes me sad. But exciting fight none the less.

Gurgel cant be letting guys like Miler submit him out of all things. I never hated on gurgel like most of the people on tis site because I always felt that he could be effective if he actuallly used his bread and butter, jju jitsu….But if you are going to get caught in a triange against guys ike Cole Miller, what good r u? Why even be in the UFC?e

Um Cole Miller is a purple belt, and very good on the ground for his weight class. Jorge Gurgel just got sloppy while trying to pass his guard. He is in the UFC because he puts on fantastic fights. He just made a seemingly rookie jitsu mistake, which is very sad.

Cole Miller is known for his ground game…..it was a nice triangle from a very tall linky guy, which is understandable. Jorge looked good that entire fight, just got caught in that nasty triangle, nothing to hold against the guy

Cole Miller is way more of an exciting fighter than Gurgel. He deserved this win. Cole constantly goes for the finish while Gurgel has always been one of those guys to ride out the fight for decisions.
Cole Miller is the future of this weight class.

Now I wont lie, I love Cole Miller, and he is a great fighter, and he is also a very exciting fighter, but Jorge is more exciting to watch than Cole. Now, Cole is better because he can finish you off submission wise, and he will take you to the ground, but Jorge goes out and has a Slugfest every time he fights. Jorge is a very exciting fighter to watch, he always brings the punches, just a shame he does not use his jitsu.

I see it the complete opposite way. I think Jorge’s fights are always slow stand-up fights with very little combos and he rarely ever lives up to all the hype people put behind him. His BJJ is awesome, but is rarely used. Gurgel hardly ever finishes fights in decisive fashion.
I haven’t saw one Cole Miller fight that wasn’t exciting. His 3-round war with Leonard Garcia was amazing, and even in his loss to Jeremy Stephens, Cole was dominating until he got caught.

In my opinion, Cole is much more exciting.

His Octagon woes stem from his camp. Not that it’s a bad camp, but it’s just not the right fit for him. If he was at Extreme Couture where he could have a great team of strategists morphing his game to be more effect we may finally see what Gurgel can really do.

Well, he has actually changed his training camp for the most part. He will train in Cincinnai with Rich, Dustin and Joe Riggs for a part so that he can help his students at his school. Now, for the past 2 fights he has trained with legendary Matt Hume up in Seattle. This has brought out a better fighter and smarter fighter in Jorge Gurgel, and I am very excited to see what Jorge can do with more time with Matt Hume. I mean Jorge got caught, plain and simple by a very talented fighter. I am not taking anything away from Cole Miller what so ever, he showed great jitsu and should be a black belt, but I think 9/10 times Jorge does not get sloppy and caught and he finishes the fight.

I don’t think Gurgel will be around in the UFC much longer. He really had to show imrove this time out. The way Dana has been trimming the fat lately it wouldn’t surprise me if we heard an annoucement later ths week.

Won’t happen. Trust me. Jorge Gurgel always goes out and has some of the most exciting fights on whatever card he has. He is 3-3 in the UFC, and all of the fans who actually are there in the arena (since people cant see it for the most part otherwise) love his fights and are always happy with it. He has not lost 2 straight he wins, loses, wins, loses, and this fight with Cole was an incredible bout. He will be back.

No way he deserves to keep fighting in the UFC. Cabana Boy won’t get cut, but only because he occupies a piece of prime real estate on Franklin’s sack.

Don’t count on Boy Jorge being back in the UFC, the guy can’t buy a win right now! If you are a true fan of the UFC or any MMA organization or sport for that matter, the only thing that matters are the wins, Gurgel can’t consistently win. He may be exciting TO YOU, but to everyone else he’s is just a body occupying a roster spot. Cole was exciting to watch, he out classed and outmanned the Brazilian at his own game. Cole was tailor made for Gurgel and he couldn’t accomplish the task. As far as people loving Gurgel, you’re wrong: People love watching Gurgel get throttled in the Octagon. I liken it to a car crash: Everybody slows down to watch a car crash and Gurgel is a wreck. Boy Jorge, stick to teaching buddy, thats what you do best. Cole put the final nail in the proverbial coffin last night!

Did you even really watch that fight? You can hear Joe and Mike talk about how exciting Jorge is, and how they love to watch their fights. How was Jorge outclassed and outmanned? Please tell me this? Jorge got sloppy and left an arm in with 35 seconds of the final round, after 2 and a half hard fought rounds. The guy can’t buy a win right now? He is 3-3, he won his last fight prior to this Cole Miller fight. What is this “If you are a true UFC/MMA fan the only thing that matters are wins.” Um what? True fans actually appreciate what these warriors do, and appreciate exciting fights win or lose for the fighters. So I guess with that being said, nobody likes Chris Lytle because he lost to Josh Koscheck? Nobody likes Chuck Liddell because he lost to Keith Jardine and Rampage Jackson? Putting the nail in the coffin? I swear the knowledge of you so called MMA fans are disgusting. Just pure sickening.

I’m not a fan of Gurgel, he’s wild and blows it because he’s not thinking in there. However, he fought smart against Miller. I thought Miller would win hands down, but Gurgel was winning the fight. I was watching the triangle over n’ over for a few and decided it was lucky. The way Miller’s legs lurched and caught Jorge was like reaching in a pond to catch a fish!

I actually felt bad for Gurgel, because it’s one of the few times I was actually impressed with how he was handling his fight and to lose it in the final few seconds for him must have been heart wrenching… to top it off… “he tapped” something I never thought I’d see him do, but when your oxygen supply is out, panic sets in and preservation takes over… can’t blame him. I’m surprised Miller didn’t use ti-clinch against the way shorter Gurgel.

NC-17, you are comparing apples to oranges. Liddell held the UFC Light-Heavyweight strap for 2 1/2 years. Are you actually comparing Jorge Gurgel to Chuck LIddell? I will let this IGNORANT comment of yours go, but to sit there and spend the time typing and saying that the knowledge of MMA fans is to appreciate a 3-3 record of a man that puts on exciting losses, he got tapped by an inferior fighter, that is how he got outclassed and outmanned! Sorry pal, your knowledge of the fight game and what crowds appreciate leave MUCH to be desired. I was at the fight last night and when your boy Gurgel was introduced all I heard was boos! And the resounding comments from the knowledgeable fans that were seated all around me were, “This guy sucks and he shouldn’t be in the UFC anymore.” You need to get out more! Like I have told you before, I do get excited when Gurgel is going to fight: I know he is about to get put through the meat grinder once again!
Cole Miller put the final golden spike into the coffin of Boy Jorge’s UFC coffin last night, good riddance!

I completely agree. With constant improvement, to imagine Cole Miller at 28 or 29 is scary. This guy is going to be a force. His body frame, boxing, underrated jiu-jitsu, and his stone chin (never been KO’d) shows a lot of promise for greatness.

His frame is very deadly in that division. He will be able to lock up Triangles, Armbars, and omo’s fairly easily on the bottom when his opponent is 4 inches or shorter. I like Cole, he gained a lot of respect from me on TUF 5, and I am glad he won because if he would of lost, I dunno if he would of been offered another fight, but it was a shame that he had to fight Jorge. But great fight none-the-less.

hopefully gurgel will be cut from the ufc. 3-3 record, with 6 freakin decisions, even with danny “I’M AN ULTIMATE FIGHTER NOW!” abbadi? comon man. never liked him, never will. his fight with robinson was horrendous, throwing up useless sub attempts and in return getting his face pounded. stick with bjj and stay there. those who can do, do: those who can’t, teach. bye bye gurgel

Now your just grasping at straws, dude! Because Franklin and Gurjel are best friends he will be allowed to keep fighting in the UFC?, tell you what genius I have a bridge I want to sell you too! Facts are facts, Boy Jorge blows and his days are numbered, pick a different favorite fighter but make sure he knows how to win. Bye, Bye Jorgey Boy, you won’t be missed!

I looked up Cole’s half ironman time (http://www.setupevents.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=event_results&id=938) after they mentioned it in the commentary.

COLE MILLER BOCA RATON FL swim:00:51:42 T1:00:04:07 bike:04:11:26 T2:00:04:02 run:03:14:48 total:08:26:04

Not bad, until he blew the run… He must have been really beat, I have run that distance in half the time it took him…
