I hope this fight lives up to what our expectations are.

I have Chris winning ..via TKO early…if it goes passed to 2nd..maybe we’ll see a submission from Chris..Kos is a tUF mofo..I just think Chris is about once again. At 33. Time is not on his side. So Chris ” work fast “!!

John, at first I was thinking Lytle in this one, by KO. However, now I think that Kos is going to resort back to his lay n pray days, but with some more effective strikes than we are used to seeing from him on the ground.

This fight just makes me think back to Kongo/Herring where Kongo had the better standup, but I was just worried about Herring laying on top of Kongo for the majority of two rounds and getting the nod in the decision.

I can really see the Lytle/Kos fight ending the same way. However, it must be stated that Lytle does have very solid submissions off his back, unlike Kongo.

I will not be betting money on Kos, epsecially at those odds, and a few days ago I was one screen away from betting a little on Lytle, but I didn’t - because that would just be less money I’d win on Rampage. I DO have Lytle in my upset parlay…

OJR, I agree Kos has shown a good chin. And truthfully has been more exciting in his fights. But I think facing a guy with KO power he’ll do alot of LnP.

Kos kept the fights standing with McLovin and Diego because he was scared to go to the ground where he would likely get submitted.

The thing that Lytle got going for him in this fight is the fact that he has the better standup, and he has very good submissions off his back. Plus, Lytle has never been stopped in an MMA fight. If the fight goes 3 rounds I see Kos winning a decision. In order for Lytle to win the fight, he MUST finish Kos. Chris is now priding himself on finishing fights and finishing a Top 5 opponent would say alot for Lights out!

Agreed!

Problem with the Kongo/Hearing analogy was that for some strange reason Kongo decided to try to out wrestle Hearing, that seemed to be his stupid game plan…He wasnt thinking Striking 1st like he usually does.

Lytle has no dellusions about what his skills are and what his weaknesses are. His gameplan will not be to out wrestle Koschek.

If betting lytle will take away from $ that would go on a Rampage fight, then leave lytle alone! I will be very interested to see what kos’s gameplan is for this fight because he is confident in his stand up, and Lytle is dangerous off his back and Kos has been reluctant to takedown opponents that are good off there back. I think kos is going to try out his strand up at 1st, and LIGHT OUT!!!!

THis isnt a lock by any means, so I dont want to encourage anyone to bet this fight if they werent going to already because this is a very risky fight to bet on. However u know me Great risks = Great rewards. I think Lytle knows his time is running out, and its time to make an impact on the division! I wont bet big on Lytle, maybe like $75. Rampage is the safe pick!

John, how much are you putting on Page?

Comment by john

already bet $500 on him. If I loose I am out around $1,200

2008-07-03 12:33:52

MOst people say, they will bet $1,200 on Page to win $500

I do my betting the other way around. I expect to win ALL my bets, so I bet the amount that I want to win on each fight, as long as I can cover how much it will loose

I only bring that up because if you ask most people what they bet, they will say, For example, I bet $100 on Rampage, but they mean that they are putting up $100. if they win, they wont win $100, they would only win like $30.

I write it the other way around. I say what I am planning to win, but if I loose on a favorite, I loose more then what I stated.

Know what I mean?

I hear ya, I’m a sports book vet in Vegas. John, I respect your opinion a lot, would you say the lock on the card (that’s worth betting, odds wise) is the Page fight? I know you like Lights out, but I have to bet Kos, Kos in 2.

Lytle and Aurelio bets would win more money because they are underdogs, but they are far from locks.

If I had to bet it all on one fight it would be Rampage. I cant see him loosing this fight at all! Rampage just hits way too hard and Forrest’s chin can not withstand that kind of impact. On the other hand Rampage has one of the best chins I have ever seen. It took about 50 perfectly placed knees by wanderlei to finally make Rampage fall in there 2nd fight. In the 1st fight, Rampage refused to go down. Against Shogun, Rampage was taking crazy amounts of punishment, knees to the face and body, kicks to the chin, and Rampage was never completely Knocked out. Forrest lacks power, Rampage’s chin is top of the line…Simple as that, because Skill wise, Rampage is probably better than Forrest at everything. Forrest has heart, but you can have all the heart in the world, but if Forrest gets hit on that “button” He will be OUT COLD!!

Basically, I just dont see Forrest taking Rampage’s title…I just dont!

I am betting on Almeida as well, but the majority of the $ will be on Rampage.

JOhn, I hope your prediction[or should I say “intelligent statistical gauge”]would be accurate. I hate Koscheck’s guts, ever since! I don’t know why. So I think Hazelett shoulda just whooped his ass back then so he’ll slide all the way to the bottom of the rankings!!!

I hope I am right as well. I was also rooting for Hazlett to whoop on Kos, and he was on his way until he got caught.

Lytle is a veteran, that can win by KO or submission…Kos isnt going to KO lytle and he isnt going to submit him either. Which leaves 2 ways that Kos can win this fight:

TKO (ground n pound) which is a possibiliity. after all, beside GSP Kos is the best wrestler in the division (along with Fitch).

or a Boring lay n pray decision, similar to how Hughes beat Lytle.

As fans, we should all be hoping that Lytle wins, because if lytle wins, it will be in a more entertaining fashion than if Koschek where to win, plus Lytle is a styand up dude, who has paid his dues, and I would like to se ehim have some success now that his career is wionding down.

If lytle wins, it will be in highlite fashion, If Kos wins it will be in a boring sean Sherk fashion. There fore every single person that is paying $ to watch this event should be rooting for Lytle to win!

My ideal situation is that:
Alves defeats Diego
Lytle defeats Koschek

so then Koschek and Diego will fight it out to see who gets there career back on track….I am calling it now: Diego Sanchez wins the rubber match!

This I think is askin’ too much. But who knows, your prediction may be right! Lytle is a natural born striker, and in the world of MMA, it’s really unpredictable to know for sure who’ll win. Take GSP-Serra 1 for example…But yeah, I’m hopin’ too for a quick 1st round KO!

Koscheck deserves to be in the title shot fight against alves instead of dirty

he has earnt it and it would be awesome to see a rematch with GSP in a 5 rounder

this is a tough fight for lyttle
i expect koscheck to take him down and pound on him for the 15 minutes or possibly get a submission on him

havent seen much in that department from koscheck yet but i quite fancy an armbar reminiscent of the one matt hughes got on gsp in the first fight

If u think that Koschek will be the 1st man to ever submit Chris Lytle, well u will be in for a surprise, because I can say with full certanty that Will not happen.

Thats like saying Tim Sylvia was going to submit Nogueira!

John, not trying to argue with your opinion on Kos, just wanted to make my case. Dustin Hazelett, great submissions but couldn’t get Kos, GSP, only one of 4 guys to go the distance with (not a accomplishment, but just saying). Diego, I’m going to leave that one alone, cuz I know you case with that fight (Kos still one). Goulet, has great sticking but couldn’t knock out Kos. Now we can go in to detail on each fight but I don’t see the need. Good luck on your bets, and hopeful we will both make some money this weekend.

BFD: I wasnt arguing with you, I was responding to slicrik who said that Kos might submit lytle. Koschek is the favorite for a reason, he could easily win this fight, but I can promise you that he will not win by submission. Lytle has never been submitted and I dont think kos has ever even submitted anyone.

Only way’s Koschek has of winning this fight is by Ground n pound or by boring us to death with a lay n pray decision win (like Hughes did against Lytle).

A submission win for Koschekl against Lytle is just not an option. But yeah Kos has a great chance in this fight, I just like to take chances on Underdogs because they win you more money without risking a lot of money. So I dont have to bet too much on underdogs, because they win more then they loose. And If Lytle does loose, so what the Rampage bet will cover me and then some.

Oh I know John, I just didn’t want you to think I was picking a fight with ya. You make some legitimate points, but I still like Kos…I have seen crazier things then lights out being submitted by Kos. Kos has been in some deep chokes too and never tab…it should be good. I see your points of the underdog when it’s about 50-50 bet in most eyes. Good luck to ya and make that money.

Oh and I wish I could bet money on this PPV. If only I won some money through an MMA website and a certain caption contest…right Mania?
