JOHN. i just listened to a juanito radio interview where he stated that he and page turned down a million dollar offer for a big role in the new “WOLVERINE” movie w/ hugh jackman to make the last tuf. now thats sacrifice! thats what i was talking about when cunt le was thinking of retireing to be an actor. thats what a real fighter does. randy couture and cunt le should both take notice. i will give le his t back when he beats a a real top 10 mw who intends on winning anyway possible, not try and beat him at his own game (f.shamrock). juanito said that they had already given their word to coach on tuf. that means alot to me. sorry , didnt mean to get off subject ,but i found that to be very interesting.

How can you call Randy a sell out. He is 45 years old and still wants to fight Fedor. So he makes a cheesy movie or 2, he needs to make his money now. Randy is a legend, and he fought in this sport when the winnings were shit. If you decide to fight and accomplish what Randy has, then maybe I will listen to what you have to say.

i didnt say randy was a sellout. trust me there is nothing that i dont know about randy’s career. he is a legend and already in the hall of fame. but he did sign a contract and didnt live up to it out of greed, ego, something. he lied about how much money he was making and how much he was actually paid. that was proven. he got a hw title shot after 2 consecutive losses and a year of retirement and said that he was being disrespected afterwards. he said that the ufc never promoted him properly but after he retired they had a special “randy couture day” on spike tv that was 4 hrs of nothing but randy couture fights and him being inducted into the hof. after his win over gonzaga not only was randy my favorite mma fighter , he was my favorite athelete in the world , and i am a big sports nut, all sports. but since then he has done nothing but tarnish his career. what would have been so bad about staying in the ufc and defending his belt against the likes of big nog, a.a. (he hadnt left yet) or even werdum. it wasnt the ufc’s fault that fedor didnt sign, they offered him the most money ever and randy complained about both sides of that, saying he was leaving because they didnt sign fedor and then saying that they were offering him too much. wich one is it? randy’s hea got to big making movies and reading the web-sites. the ufc treated randy with more respect and honor than any othe fighter ever, even chuck, and he threw that all away. its still not to late though, if randy were to see the error of his ways and apologize(he owes one) and comes back and defend against big nog, it would be very hard for me not to go back to rooting for him. but i dont think thats ever gonna happen and he may never get to fight fedor. what if fedor lose or just plain retires (you never know with him). as far as me, im damned near 40 and couldnt fight my way out of a wet paper bag so i doudt i’ll ever achieve what randy has,but i do know right from wrong and randy was wrong on this one. wether you listen to me or not is up to you and you will probably only belive what you want to believe but sometimes the truth hurts.

i mean rampage is at a point in his mma career where he can make millions over the course of a year, but still that is supposed to be a huge big budget movie. but rampage is a real fighter who loves what he does and doesnt do it just for the money, same for juanito. page is also up for the role of b.a. baraccus (mr.t) in the new a-team film, but im sure he will find a way to work that into his fight schedule. rampagee understands that he is being given this opportunities because of his exposuree in the ufc, not the other way around like the afformentined fighters. thats the difference.

this fite can go either way it seems like. while rampage is definately the favorite, Forrest is in amazing shape and comes from a great camp. Rampage has historically been known not to be in the greatest shape cardio wise for his fites though he looked good against henderson. If forest can use his reach on rampage it could be interesting on the feet. Neither guy has great bjj, but rampage has the takedown advantage but I think Forrest will be the stronger and quicker fighter. I think this fite will be closer than most people think. Could be one of the best main event fites we’ve seen in a long time. much respect to both fighters. I’m going to give it to Rampage by either ground and pound in the 4th round or by decision. This is one of those fights that I truley think will elevate both fighters and the sport or at least I hope it will.

Nice post, but I’d have to disagree with you saying that Forrest will be the stronger of the two fighters. Rampage is freakishly strong, he’s got that natural gorilla strength. Meanwhile, Forrest, well, he just kinda looks like a monkey.

I think Forrest is just as strong as Rampage but the only thing I am worried about is Forrests Knock out Power. But He’s been working hard so I hope hes got some. But all in all 2 great fighters but I am giving it to Forrest by rear naked in the 3rd or winner by decision.

Comment by john
2008-07-01 09:11:36

u do realize in order to win via rear naked choke, Forrest will have to out wrestle Rampage and eventually take his back…..something that hasnt been done in about 8 years….Not very likely!
Sorry, not going to happen!

I love it Forrest RNC his way to beat Shogun, and all of a sudden that is his go to move?…Gimmie a break, Forrest is in Big trouble, and anyone with half a clue as too who Rampage is and what he has done in the sport should know that ITS JUST NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!

Forrest’s jaw will get Broken on Saturday…uppercutt/hook combo will end the fight. 1st time Forrest tries to Tia Clinch Rampage and throw a knee, rampage will catch Forrest’s leg and BODY SLAM him!

Thanks violentmike but I again have to say that while Rampage is freakishly strong, I think Forrest will come into the fite with great strength. In all the training videos you see him in he always trains for his fites to his opponents strengths and you know training with Couture and Silva, he knows what he needs to work on. While Rampage is great it must be in his head that Forrest trains with Wanderla and has been getting tips from him. again I feel this fite is gonna be allot closer than most people think and would not be that surprised if forrest pulled off the upset. His progression with every fite shows that he’s still learning and is still hungry. Will be a great fight on Saturday regardless

Forrest, you don’t really sound too confident. Can’t wait til Jackson knocks your head clean off. I just don’t like you.

Comment by Eric
2008-06-30 17:59:37

I agree he hasn’t sounded too confident in interviews leading up to the fight, but I see it as him being honest and realistic…he realizes there are some serious downsides for him (Rampages experience, strength, boxing, and Griffin’s weak chin), but he is still a true professional. He will be physically and mentally ready come fight night, I am sure.

Forrest needs to:

-stay out of the pocket
-use lots of leg kicks and jabs
-take the fight to the ground when Rampage isn’t expecting it and go for submissions.

If Forrest gets past the 3rd round, I predict he will win by submission or TKO (ground and pound). If Forrest can’t get Rampage down, I see Jackson getting a KO or TKO no later than round 2.

That being said, I want Rampage to win, but won’t be too upset if Forrest pulls it out. They are both good guys.

Guys.. I’ve noticed in talking with the casual MMAfan that this fight between Forrest and Rampage is so not on the radar as it should be. 1. It’s been 10MONTHS!!!! since Rampage won his title and about the same time since Forrest upset Shogun. 10months between title defenses is a no no. This is why the TUF show should not invovle current Champs. We all could of seen Hughes/Serra already if the UFC WW belt was not put on the shelf. I’m sure this saturday’s main event will be exciting..but come on guys…do we really have to wait 10months for a champ to defend his title..I pray to God…Dana does not ask Anderson Silva to be a coach on the TUF show..there goes his 90days title defense streak.

Comment by PhilQNY
2008-06-30 13:08:50

10months since Page beat Dan Henderson and retained his title.

Comment by ViolentMike
2008-06-30 13:50:12

Phil, Rampage broke his hand against Henderson that required surgery. After the fight with Shogun, Forrest had surgery on his shoulder. The fight wouldn’t have been able to happen right away, but for sure, it could have happened sooner than 10 months.

And for champs being coaches on TUF, I’ve been complaining since season 6. Since then, they have used champs every time, seasons 6, 7 and now 8. They also had the champ on Season 1, but they were featuring their two most popular fighters at the time to grab the nation’s attention, and it worked. Hughes and Franklin coaching and then defending after season 2 didn’t bother me either. It was once they tied up the belt pertaining to the most exciting division at the time, WW, during Season 6

Forrest may be playing a mind game here and using psychological strategy…He knows everyone assumes Rampage will KO him in dramatic fashion so he is using that to his advantage by saying he doesnt have the greatest chin, he doesnt hit that hard…ect. in hopes to keep Rampage loose or not so defensive and overconfident.

…..Or, he could just be stating fact

Boy how short our memories seem to be. I remember people talking about how Forest was going to get walked through by Shogun, my self included. Say what you will Shogun got dominated. Anything can and will happen in MMA. The people counting out Forest obviously don’t think that. I seem to remember a time when GSP was supposed to walk through somebody and that didn’t happen either. All I am saying is don’t ever count anybody out! Go Forest!!!

Shogun was injured and out of shape (not making excuses for him, I was rooting for FOrrest) when he got beat by Forrest. Unless Rapage slipped in the shower and F’d up his leg last night or in one of the upcoming nights, he should be injury free and in shape.

lets be fair, there is a big difference in having a hurt shouder and having a snapped ACL in your knee. Forrest had troouble using 1 arm, shogun had trouble standing! Of course his cardio was crap…how do u train Cardio on 1 leg? impossible…That was the worst Shogun that we will ever see, and Forrest still struggled in the early parts of the fight. Iactually think Shogun won round 1, then Cardio kicked in and Forrest took over.

I pray, that 1 day I will get to see a healthy Forrest vs. a Healthy Shogun….That is one of the fights I want to see MOST!!

if both 100 percent i’d give it to shogun any day. and forest had an advantage in the heath acpect but my only point i guess is he should look a ton better for this fight not having that shoulder injury. the worst shogun still looked better than alot of other fighters on their best day. i kinda hope forest wins so we can eventually see a forest shogun rematch for the belt a 100 percent shogun that is.

Very disrespectful to talk that way about Cung Le. Guy has been fighting for nearly 20 years, and you call him a cunt because he can make a living doing something else? Le has been a total professional, extremely respectful of the sport and his opponets his entire career (of which you apparently know very little) and you bash him - shows your complete lack of class.
