rory markham brodie faber ufc fight night 14
Former International Fight League (IFL) welterweight standout Rory Markham (14-4) has inked a fight contract with Zuffa and will make his Octagon debut against fellow newcomer, Brodie Farber (13-3), at UFC Fight Night 14 from The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 19.

The good news comes from the fine folks over at FiveOuncesOfPain.com.

Markham is a super tough competitor who has won seven of his last nine fights. He most recently defeated Jay Ellis via first round submission (triangle choke) at the first-ever Adrenaline MMA event earlier this month.

The heavy-handed Miletich-trained fighter has never gone the distance in nearly 20 professional fights -– win or lose –- since his pro debut back in 2003. Markham comes to scrap and leaves it all on the table … just ask notable opponents such as Mike Pyle and Brad Blackburn.

He’s a fine (and dangerous) addition to a very talent-heavy UFC 170-pound division.

His scheduled opponent, Farber, has been busy south of the United States border, competing in several recent shows in Mexico under the MMA Extreme banner. He is on a six-fight win streak that includes a nice balance of submissions and (technical) knockouts.

UFC Fight Night 14 features the light heavyweight debut of reigning 185-pound champion Anderson Silva against James Irvin. To check out the most recent card and rumors for the Spike TV special click here.

Good to see Markham in the UFC. They should also get The Lion and Horodecski

Horodecki wouldn’t be a bad addition, but he would get smeered pretty quick.
Schultz and Markham, hell yeah!
Add Palaszewski to the list… have all the ‘good’ IFL fighters migrated.

So they stopped Nick from fighting Sakurai for a title, then no title shot with KJ, just so he can fight Denny. I thought people said the other Orgs. treat there fighters better than the UFC?

Wildman Denny????????? LOLOLOL. Give me a F’ing break.

Related to this thread, its good to see Markham in the UFC. He is a very explosive fighter. Right off the bat after one win, I would like to see Rory fight Marcus Davis. That should make for an exciting fight.

The UFC is signing ALOT of new talent for this UFN 14 that they put on on short notice. They probably have to get new talent to fight at this show because appearantly not many established UFC fighters would take a fight on 3.5 weeks notice.

Yeah, I think the new fighters is because of short notice as well. I watched the IFL from time to time but I never really paid attention to it. I have seen Rory fight but I never noticed he was fighting at welterweight. I thopught he was bigger than he is. Maybe its because he hits like a MAC truck! This is a great addition and I would not oppose Davis vs. Marham

Violentmike: On my drive home from school today, I was thinking about Fighter Records and I remember that back in the day, occasionally u used to post a fighters entire mma career record: list of who he faced, in order, with the outcome, what organization. I remember because you put me on to the fact that Tim Sylvia KO Rothwell, back in the day. Where did you go to get those complete lists? and u should start breaking them back out from time to time, for new fighters!

I google the fighter. Then I’d copy/paste out of Wikipedia (of all places) or Fight Finder, and then “clean it up” by deleting the nonsense and formatting it correctly.

Let’s learn about Rory Markham and Brodie Farber.

As the former IFL writer of this site (Thanks IFL!) and I am really really happy to see Rory get signed to the UFC, and I hope they air this fight in all honesty. But this card is extremely weak filled with people that nobody but the hardcore fans know about. I mean nobody knew Reese Andy when he took the fight against Vera (except for a couple of people) and now Rory is another former IFL fighter to fight inside the cage. Now if they could get Ryan Schultz… that would be something.

Does anyone else think Brodie Farber looks like a cross of GSP and Gray Maynard?
