Quoteworthy:

“Speculation within the MMA industry suggests that Gary Shaw’s days at ProElite may be numbered. Rumors suggest that Shaw may be out by the end of the summer, possibly soon after the July 26 CBS event … the expected move is another example of CBS’s growing influence on the company. Santa Monica Capital Partners, the largest shareholder in the company, is also believed to have taken a more active role in the company of late.”

Professional boxing promoter-turned mixed martial arts promoter, Gary Shaw, could be on the ropes as Elite XC Live Events President if the report is indeed accurate.

automation you can’t expect mania to give you props if he dosn’t know bout it, he can’t read every post, if you want props than make sure mania knows your the one giving the info via “contact” at the top of the page.

Holy Crap, would LOVE this to be true. A new president could actually turn this company into something great. Smart move CBS! Shaw is awful for MMA.

GOOD RIDDANCE! Hopefully they get someone in there who knows a thing or 2 about mma and isnt tryiing to turn it into the WWE!!

Best Case Scenario would be Proelite Selling eliteXC to donald Trump and merging it with Affliction! That would be bad ass and 1 Giant step closer to producing legit competition for the UFC!~

Makes sense, EliteXC was on the verge of going bankrupt before CBS saved them with a deal that was very much in CBS’s favor.
Gary Shaw being bounced out would probably help EliteXC in hardcore mma fan circles…

PLEASE make this so! Gary Shaw is a slimeball of the highest calibre and he only does MMA harm. CBS and EXC have a golden opportunity in front of them and this douche will mess it up if he stays in charge.

I hope this isn’t true. Gary Shaw has done wonders for EXC. It’s because of him that everyone continue to talks about EXC and why it’s even in the spot light. Nobody would care about EXC if it wasn’t for the crap he’s done.

Comment by J
2008-06-24 16:47:13

And doesn’t that tell you something?
The only reason people cared is because he was ruining it and doing things bad for the sport?

You don’t see anyone complaining about Dream or Strike Force. Elite should have gone the way of Bodog, then perhaps a legit group would have gotten on CBS and the sport would have been advanced in an acceptable way.

I really hope this happens. Shaw has made some really stupid decisions, and will eventually be the downfall of elite xc. The stupid Diaz vs Mach cancellation followed by the Diaz vs Noons cancellation sealed the deal for me. He needs to go

Good effin riddance. This guy has no personality. When he came in the cage during the Smith/Lawler fight to announce they would get their win bonuses also, he just seemed inarticulate and rushed to speak on the mic. Dana may drop an f-bomb or 12 but he has personality and is into the sport.

He should get one of those huge white vans without windows and drive around in the suburbs aimlessly. It’d suit him.

This is exactly why Dana hasn’t made a network deal. He will not give up control of his company. Dana said a while back that CBS wanted total control of how EliteXC was going to be run.

skimp $ from the fireworks, dancers (although i like them), and rappers and put it towards hiring more MMA credible employees: fighters, fight commentary, promoter, match maker, and fighters. the whole business plan was based on putting on a show and lacking credibility. and they need to move away from the lopsided/mismatch fights. Also, goes without saying, FIXING FIGHTS is INTOLERABLE! fix those things, and there’ll be a lot of happy hardcore fans.

Wierd….Elite XC is to far gone to bring anything credible, they blew it.

Now I can’t wait for their three good fighters to go find new contracts.

CBS your excuse of an mma production, is sub par, dull and discraceful. Way to take and exciting sport and KILL it.
