Joe Lauzon (16-4) will return to action against Kyle Bradley (13-5) in a lightweight tilt at UFC Fight Night 15 at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska, on September 17.

MMAmania.com today confirmed that the reported bout would take place during the Spike TV Wednesday night special that serves as the lead-in to The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 8 season debut.

“J-Lau” recently has a six-fight win streak snapped when he dropped a fight against Kenny Florian via technical knockout (strikes) at UFC Fight Night 13 back in April. The former TUF 5 alum was the victim of some questionable (and ferocious) elbows that appeared to be illegal.

The action was stopped, but he wasn’t the same after sustaining the hits.

Lauzon has three wins in four attempts inside the Octagon, including a sensational upset in his debut against former 155-pound champion, Jens Pulver, at UFC 63: “Hughes vs. Penn” in September 2006. He’ll look to get back on track against Bradley — a one-fight UFC veteran.

In his inaugural performance, Bradley was overwhelmed by veteran Chris Lytle in a welterweight bout at UFC 81: “Breaking Point” earlier this year. “Lights Out” had Bradley so punch drunk that when the referee, Yves Lavigne, stopped the fight Bradley continued on and was defending Lavigne from full guard.

Perhaps the move down to 155 pounds will help the knockout specialist adjust to the step up in competition.

UFC Fight Night 15 will feature the main event between scrappy lightweights, Clay Guida and Mac Danzing, as well as a solid match up between TUF 5 winner, Nate Diaz, and Josh “The Dentist” Neer.

To be honest, after seeing Lauzon vs Florian, I’m not sure if Lauzon can dominate anyone.

I was so disappointed and surprised at how owned Lauzon was against Florian. Illegal elbows or not, the fight was finishing quickly in one way or another in Florian’s favour.

I expected more from Lauzon

The3 problem might not be with Creepy Joe, I think u underestimated Florian!

i HAD MONEY ON lAUZON IN THAT fight! Regardless of weather the illegal elbows had anything to do with the outcome. The fight was not refereed fairly!

FACT!!!!!

John is right… Florian is great, and the fight should have been restarted on the ground after the elbows…

this is shaping upto be a pretty good ufn.alot better main event than tanner/grove. i like nate and j-lau in their fights and expect to see them get it on shortly after. those 2 would make a great fight and i slightly favor diaz (surprise!) in that one as well. i think guida will overwhelm mac by the 3rd and would love to see him move down to 145 and take on faber. to me their almost the same fighter.

B.W: I agree that it is shaping up into a good event, but it does not come close to overshadowing the Afflction card. Affliction card is one for the ages. Its the closest fight card that I have seen to Pride, meaning many stacked fights.
THis UFN event is solid. Of course everyone wants to see Silva, but there arent any matches that are important to mma like the Affliction card has. I will enjoy DVR’ing thios card, but its no where near good enough to even make me consider, not purchasing Affliction, which is its primary objective.

As for this fight….Whatever! Joe has earned the right to not have to fight the Kyle Bradly’s of the world. Lauzon should not even take this fight.

Lauzon should be fighting someone like Frankie Edgar!

Question: When is gray maynard going to fight again, and anyone know who his opponent will be?

oh yeah.im buying afflictioned banned, defenitely the best fight card of the year so far. i hear big john mccarthy and mauro ranallo are gonna be the announcers for sure.i thought some of big johns comments have been a little anti-ufc as of late and now i see why, but anyway i think they will be very good together. mauro makes it feel more like the huge event that it is and john sould have some very good in-put. as long as he has reffed he’sgotta know the sport inside and out. i was glad to hear it was these 2 cuz the announcing is very important. bas would have been great but im not sure about his ifl status, if the ifl is really kaput. i think bas should be in the ufc hall of fame. i would like to see gray fight joe stevenson myself, but i havent heard anything recent about him.

Why the hell does he call himself J-Lau? Is he that much of a J-Lo fan?

There is a horrible dearth of creative nicknames in the New England area, as evidenced by J-Lau, Ken-Flo and Maine-iac. They need to officially change to the following: Creepy Joe Lauzon and Kenny “Blue Steel” Florian. Big Tim probably wouldn’t like being introduced as Big Poopy, but if the adult diaper fits . . .

There was an interesting interview with big john mccarthy regarding questionable ref calls. In it he addresses strikes to the back of the head and says that the whole “headphones” thing is not what the rule states. I saw it on mmascraps.com a few days ago… worth checking out.
