Kim Couture — the wife of former UFC champion Randy Couture — made her professional mixed martial arts debut last night against Kim Rose at the “Free For All, A Night of Combat” show at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It was a an event that featured a mix of boxing matches, which aired on ESPN, as well as MMA clashes that did not make the television broadcast.
Couture was dropped early in the first round with a punch that broke her nose and possibly split her jaw. Despite the carnage, she hung in and finished the fight, losing via unanimous decision.
In other action, former UFC veterans Pete Spratt and John Alessio went at it for two round before “The Natural” sunk in a fight-ending rear naked choke.

damn. New found respect for her husband’s efforts I’m sure. Classic Couture fashion though, she hung in there and finished the fight. Respect!

I remember reading one of her interviews where she said she wasn’t impressed by Big Nog and that randy would beat him. I wonder if she can appreciate what he does now.
She is like what Jenna is to Tito, except for not only running her mouth about Dana she thinks she can fight too.

your crazy. what is so wrong about woman fighting…ppl fight all the time man. if your GF had beef withsome other chick and they id let them fight…sometimes you gotta let ppl stand up do their thing you know. its not about your trphy wife here…its about respect, seeing what your better half is really made out of. i think i could live my life with confindence in a wife that not only gives support to the sport but puts herself in their shoes as well. that an extremely confident husband.

Seriously, who cares about Kim Couture fighting. She is to Randy what Ninja is to Shogun- a coat tail rider. Guess they need to find a better can next time, kind of like they did in her ’smoker fight.’ And if you think Im wrong about Ninja, tell me the last top 10 guy he has beaten. You cant because he hasnt. If there was’nt a Shogun, there wouldn’t be a Ninja in MMA. And that last guy he beat, the 16-0 Bonello, he hasnt beat anyone either so that was no big task.
It’s obvious that Ninja isn’t as skilled as Shogun, or at least hasn’t performed as well, but I can name a top 10 fighter that he has beaten. “Quinton Rampage Jackson”, the current #1 LHW. Now Ninja may not have officially won that fight, but I think it’s obvious that he should have won the decision. Even Rampage acknowledges this.
So he would beat him now? And is what youre saying is that Ninja gets all of his recognition on his own with no regard to who his brother is? I think not, sir, and I use the word loosly.

Can’t doubt her toughness… KC took a page from Randy and surely demonstrated it. I have to agree with some of the others… Why a good looking girl would fight is beyond me.
That is a bit sickening. Look at the detailed pics of pre-fight (fairly hot) and the post fight (hamburger meat). If Kim had married a real estate exec, who thinks she’d be in the ring–no one.
So she’s doing this because she’s around it and wants to show her love for Randy, rather than because of her deep personal desire to fight. If I’m Randy, I wake up this morning, look at my bruised, broken, and battered wife and consider whether she’d look like this if not for me. Answer: No
Tell her you love her and tell her you’ll still love her if she sticks to MMA workouts for fun. Remind her that once your teeth are knocked out, they don’t grow back, which she’ll learn during the numerous dental surgeries she’ll have in the next two months.
As you may have gathered, I couldn’t stomach seeing my wife getting hurt like that unless I was Positive it was what she wanted most in life.

Well, I am a man…what do you expect. Seriously, if Gina C. had gotten similarly crushed, I don’t think I’d mind it as much, because I see her as a Fighter. I may be off base, but I’m not sure Kim is a Fighter.

I’ve seen stoppages in mens MMA for broken jaws that were much less obvious.
Protection of the fighters MUST be tantamount, or we’ll all end up watching ping pong because they’ve banned our favorite sport.
