Off subject completely i know but has anyone seen the Sherdog rankings that just came out??

Don’t you all think that they are very anti UFC? In particular the lightwieght top ten… the UFC L/W division is stacked but only three make the list being Penn, Sherk and Joe Daddy.

No room for Tyson, Huerta, Florian, Edgar etc.

Are they giving too much weight to the Dream Grand Prix? And why anti UFC?

Interested to see what everyone else thinks…

Nick J: Japanese fighters have always dominated the lightweight division. We all know that Penn is the best in the world, but the only other UFC lightweighst I would put on the list are: Sherk, Florian and Joe Daddy…I agree with the rankings. I just dont think Ishida should be up there!

I personally think that Joe Stevenson is OVERRATED and has been for some time.

He had like 30 fights coming into the UFC against pretty weak competition. I watched some of his King of the Cage fights. He did’t look good at all against Romie Aram. Daddy was overwhelmed by the wrestling of Romie Aram, yes, Romie Aram

Automation I agree with you completely. I thnk Maximus will catch him in a submission. Also, Tyson better start finishing fights, he has been looking oftly Sean Sherkish this past year.

I used to like TYson, but I got NO respect for him now that he keeps avoiding NATE!!!

REALLY? Aurelio has not looked like he did when he fought in PRIDE. Clay Guida was able to overwhelm Marcus to a decision win and I expect Griffin to do the same.

I am a little biased against Tyson since he wont fight Nate! The only thing that is worth betting on this fight is the overs!

I will not bet the actual fight. Tyson will be tugh match up for maximus, but I would not be surprised if we see a break out performance out of Aurelio….its overdue!

griffin is trying to move up the rankings, why would he fight someone who is considerably lower than him in nate? it doesn’t make sense

He is ducking Nate. Nate called him out like 10 times now. Griffin needs to quit hiding.

Think about it…Nate, although impressive so far in the octagon, is still a UFC newcomer of sorts and Griffin is more established in the division. Of course Nate is going to call out a more established/known fighter so that he can have a shot at improving his own standing in the division. Griffin is looking to move up the division and be considered for a title shot, and the only way to do that is to get 2 to 3 more wins over upper level/established fighters in the division, not step down to satisfy a newbies wishes.

Tyson prob won’t leave the UFC until he’s had some loses and decides he can’t go any further. Urijah prob won’t go to the UFC while he’s reigning champ in the WEC. BUT, I’m with u on this one, I’d luv to see that fight again. It was a great fnn’ fight the 1st time around.

Comment by ViolentMike

Urijah losing the 145 WEC strap would really take away alot of the shine that he’d have moving up to the UFC’s 155 lb division. If Urijah moves up to the UFC, I think that he must still be WEC champ.

You don’t fail the test, and then graduate

Marcus has submitted Gomi, and has fought in some incredible battles. But Marcus had problems with Clay Guida, and Tyson Griffin is bigger and stronger than Clay. I think Marcus could pull off a submission, but I see Griffin getting a decision on this one.

Mr. nC-17: U r absolutely right, but I think Maximus is getting more comfortable in the octragon as each fight goes by. I expect him to be a very tough opponent for Tyson.

This fight can only end 2 ways, and you already said it:
Tysonn via decision
Maximus via submission!

To me, I think this fight has fight of the night written all over it. I honestly think that Tyson Griffin might want to stand and bang more with Marcus, knowing that Marcus has an incredible jitsu background, and beautiful submissions. I think Marcus is okay on the feet, I think Tyson has a much more crisp and accurate boxing game, and I can see this being Tyson’s game plan. I could be wrong, but he guys at Extreme Couture know how to game plan and they know how to prepare fighters for fights. So I think this fight will be an absolute barn burner, I really hope Maximus wins, I have seen this guy roll in person, and he is incredible.. just an extremely tough match for both fighters.

I don’t think using Guida as a litmus test is as cut and dry as some of you think. Guida beat Griffin to anyone who watched the fight. Lost to Edgar, and a lot of people think he lost to Tavares.

Whatever you may think of who won those fights, they all showed that Griffin’s grappling and wrestling are not that great. His striking is not very good either. He’s got decent wrestling, but the only reason he’s been able to be semi successful (To me he’s lost the 2 fights to the 2 top guys he’s fought - Edgar/Guida) is because of his cardio.

He doesn’t have anything in his tool box that can stop Aurelio, and judging from this video he isn’t even going to try to, he’s just going to do the same things he alwas does.

I like how he makes a joke about yelling at his mom, too. That’s great of you, Tyson.

I’ve heard and read that Guida may try going down to 145 WEC and challenge Urijah…any truth to that… would be a great fight.. Guida is a freakin’ cardio machine, damn near treakin when he runs into the ring, and can’t stop.

can’t wait to see this fight. these guys are so evenly matched. it should clear up my confusion of who’s better out of tyson, marcus, or guida. i like marcus by sub. this looks like a #1 contender fight. florian would have more trouble with either of these guys than with huerta.

The judges won’t be able to save griffin this time. He lost to both Tavares and guida. Now Marcus will tap him out. I can’t wait to see how marcus’ jj matches up against bj’s jj.
