Sobral is a joke, he made two knock out high light reels curtousy of Chuck Liddell and I have no clue in hell what he was doing against Jason Lambert when he got knocked out, did anyone else see him drop both hands and lead with a knee?? Who the hell does that??

Babalu is a bad dude. So he got knocked out by the Iceman when he was in his prime, so did most people who fought Chuck. He should have beaten Lambert, but he got caught, and Lambert has that 1 punch Ko ability that can drop anyone if he connects. I still think that babalu is a top notch light heavyweight. He is the only man to ever defeat a healthy Shogun. I dont know if Babalu is top 10 (mainly because he has been inactive), but he is definetly top 15 and capable of beating many of the UFC’s top light heavyweights!

I look for Babalu to pull off a nice submission win against Whitehead, and then I expect Babalu to face lil Nog or Tito (when he signs) for the Wamma LHW title at the 2nd Affliction event in October/November

Babalu vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira would be a bad ass fight!

You really think that Tito would qualify for a WAMMA title match??? How can they have one without the top LHW in the game today, Rampage.

A #15 (Babalu) vs a #30 (Tito) LHW to fight to find out who the best LHW in the world is? SOunds pointless to me and would only make people laugh at the WAMMA titles.

Wamma title cant include any UFC fighters. I would just throw Tito into the fight to help the company grow because he brings Fans (I dont know why, but those are the facts).

Not that I feel this is on merrit its more for the growth and survival of the country:

Tito vs. lil Nog for the title, Tito markets himself as well as anyone, and Affliction can m arket liil Nog easily. he is the twin brother of the current Ufc champion. THat fight should appeal to the casual fans. Then Nog can win the title because we all know Tito cant beat him, and cast Tito off to the side, and have lil nog (champ) have his 1st title against Babalu.

Think about it mike, who are the best LHW not in the UFC? I am curious to hear all everyones answers!

I don’t know John.. He didn’t just get “caught” by Jason Lambert, he dropped both hands and threw a knee, it wasn’t even a flying knee, it was more like an invitation stating “please knock me out, here’s my chin”. Maybe it was just an off day, but watch that replay in slow mo, that had to be one of the worst attempts at a knee that i’ve ever seen..

you are right, off day is more like it. I have to say its just an off day the guy hasnt lost to too many people. THink about it besides the Iceman and Lambert how many other people have beaten Babalu?

A joke who are you fooling. So he’s been knocked out 2 against the ice man. Chuck lost twice to Rampage. Rampage lost twice to Wanderali so who cares. Babalu has been training since 87 in Jiu Jitsu and has proven himself way beyond a shadow of doubt. He just choked out his last victem in the UFC via Aconanda and “He had a ten fight win streak against top flight competition” -Joe Rogan. So know the facts before you start dissing a future legend in the game. Nobody stays perfect everybody looses. But calling him a joke get real.

john, I was thinking of what you said about not going to affliction because of school, but fri,sat fly home sun, means you miss 1 day. Believe me, thats long enough to stay in CA! I’ve been here 2 years, and can’t wait until 2010 when I can transfer. The schools suck, the people for the most part are ignorant and everything is way too hyped and expensive. I’ve enjoyed my time here, but can’t wait to get back to the slow deliberate pace of the south and east coast. Everyone here is in a hurry to get to the next red light!! Go to the event, who knows when Fedor will have a meaningful fight again after Tim beats him.

Kevin-

How do you have Tim winning the match?

Comment by kevin
2008-06-18 13:30:16

how, by being top 10 and fighting top 10 consistently, by circling and cornering Fedor and by working sub defense like he did against Monson! He got submitted by Nog for 2 reasons, he wasn’t expecting it since nog will stand and trade with anyone and second because Nog’s sweep was unreal. I don’t see fedor sweeping tim like that, and I see Tim’s reach/jab finding a home. Tim isn’t HMC, sorry!
for the record, I don’t like tim and want Fedor to win!!

That’s bigger news than the Fertita’s thinking Dana sucks at his job!

Kevin, Why would Fedor need to sweep Tim? r u kidding me, snap out of it, you are much better than that. Nog had to pull guard, so Tim was on top and nog had no choice but to sweep him. Fedor will not have to pull guard! He will take Tim down with EASE and pound him out. Have u ever seen Fedor’s most brutal ground n pound in the entire world? Now add elbows to that, and Tims going to be all messed up!

If you ever had to trust me on 1 thingt, believe me when I tell you that Fedor will win this fight! Please dont bet on tim!

I told u not to bet Hughes, Tito, SErra….please listen to me when I tell you not to bet on tim Sylvia!

Then again, the more people who bet on Tim, the better the odds I will get on Fedor so be my guest!

Yes, correct John, just look at how easily Couture manhandled Tim. And Fedor is physically stronger than “The Natural” IMO…

everbody is training to beat fedor its gonna happen some time and tim is possibly one the best guys to do it but the odds are still against tim! i think kevin forgets fedor fought semmy schilt! he couldnt connect with fedor! fedor was unable to grapple due to an injury against cro cop but he was able to beat cro cop with the stand up! he whupped garry goodridge standing! how do you figure big sloppy tim has him beat! fedor just has to do what randy did! get under his punches and take the slob down or hit him!
people forget fedor has world championship medals in judo his clinch is nasty! you cannot compare fedors takedowns to jeff monson the big slow ogre! i think the guy with the best chance of beating fedor is josh barnett

Thats exactly what I posted Yesterday. Fedor dominated Semmy Shilt in his 1st pride fight. IMO Tim is a poor man’s Semmy Shilt. No doubt in my mind that Semmy would destroy Tim!

I also said that Barnett has the best chance of beating Fedor!

I have also thought that if Barnett had not been kicked out of the UFC when he did, he would have been champ for a very long time. The only fighter to give him real trouble was Cro Cop. Barnett has stand up but on the ground he is definately top two as far as submissions are concerned and he can really take a hell of a beating and still sink in those submissions. I two think that he has a very good chance of taking out Fedor. As far as Tims concerned Fedor is better in every way than Tim, but I do remember one fight Fedor had where this Japanese guy hit with a solid punch and his legs turned to jelly, he was lucky the guy couldn’t follow it up. If this is how he reacted from being caught by this guy, he doesn’t want to be taking to many punches from Sylvia. That aside I am looking at him to destroying Sylvia, probably second round.

Everyone I know is in a hurry to get off this damn east coast and go to the west coast! Once I graduate, my ideal job would be to work for the UFC’s marketing team in Vegas. If that doesnt work out I would like to move to San Diego or Arizona. I am so sick of my coast, I have no family here! All my family is in Italy. My parents got me duel citizenship when I was younger so I am a citizen of the USA and Italy, which leaves some job opportunities open for me in Europe (I speak Fluent italian).

As for the event, What am I going to do go alone? I mentioned it to my girl, but she cant take any time off work until August (works weekends) so I would have to go to Cali for like 4 days tops, Alone….Not really feeling it.

Its killing my cause I dont know when I would ever be able to see a Fedor fight against a good opponent in person. I dunno. I am still thinking about it. I know it wont be sold out anytime soon so I still have time to think about it. I just dont know who I could possibly go with. My little brother who is about to turn 24 will be in Italy all of July and August, so I dont really know anyone who would fork out the money to go with and I am not about to pay for anyone’s trip except my girl or my lil brother.

I kind of have my heart set on trying to go to DREAM 6, the final round of the middleweight grand prix and possibly Mark Hunt vs. Sergei Kharitonov (2 of my favorite heavyweights) on September 23. Me and you had the conversation about going to a DREAM event a few months back, and I really would love to go, for the fights, but also because I am facinated with Japan. We had this talk before. I want to go there for all the reason’s u listed. THe people, the fights, the city, the respectful fans.

Awwwww. I’m very dissapointed to hear that you wouldn’t pay my way to go to Affliction with you. I’m sure my wife would have allowed it too.

“Hey baby, I’m going to California for a few days with this guy I talk to on the computer. He’s paying for me and we’re going to have a great time”

Mike, I have a feeling Amir will upset CB tonight and CB will have to fight Crueder to after Jesse gets kicked off to see who will face Amir in the finals!

What’s up with all the Babalu haters? So he has been beat a couple of times. The days of undefeated fighters are over, the sport has grown and the talent levels are too high for that to happen anymore. It will only be a matter of time before someone beats Anderson Silva. Babalu is a great fighter who has had some poor performances. Do I think he is top notch? No but he is better than most of the UFC’s LHW.
