Good card, saw the Hazelett-Burkman fite looks really interesting. He showed allot against Koscheck and hopefully can continue to grow as a fighter.

I’ve been watching mma since around 1994. I’ll admit I didn’t follow TUF 1, but have watched 2-7. I have been really impressed with 2-6, but have been disappointed this season! I know nothing about the fighters except mac brown and cb are very over rated and hyped. I picked amir to win, and cb proved he’s strictly a wrestler and needs to evolve more. I think he has lots of potential!
The reason I gave my history on watching mma and tuf, is because of how many guys have come out of that first season. Yes I have gone back and watched it, and Diego Sanchez has been a favorite of mine for 2 or 3 years now. He looked pretty good tonight, and is continuously improving.
Evan Tanner is done, period…and is it me or did Grove look really big. I’d hate to accuse anyone of anything, but HGH isn’t tested for, and even his facial features were different (which happens when on HGH). Just throwing it out there.
Overall I enjoyed the fights, was disappointed I didn’t see Jeremy Horn, but oh well. With the UFC hyoing the 19th show more in one night than affliction has in months, they solidified the failure of the affliction show. It’s really too bad, but it’s business.
CB did tap, I don’t want to read other wise!

Lol I think knowing about Evan Tanner is meh at best as well. Even if he wasn’t washed up, what future does he have in his division?

Comment by Graham
2008-06-16 16:33:42

Tanner was a good mid-carder who got exposed by the division’s elite (Franklin). He could be built back up again to challenge Silva and get exposed again. Hopefully they can keep feeding him cans to get a few wins so Silva can pound him out. By then he should have earned enough to afford a new boat.

It was obvious from the promo for this weeks episode that someone gets kicked off for wrecking a limo. We saw the window getting punched out. My money is on Taylor, he seems like the kind of idiot who would pull a stunt like that.

Comment by ViolentMike
2008-06-16 15:55:01

Since the final show is scheduled for 1 and a half hours, then I’d have to guess there will be another fight, not just the Amir-CB fight, because I doubt just 1 fight would take up a 1 and a half hour show. So after the finalist gets the boot for breaking the limo window, there will be another fight to determine who will take his place in the finale.

I’m still guessing its Jesse who gets in trouble for beating the life out of Jeremy May for calling him a Jew again. I expect CB to win against Amir in the best fight of the season. Then Amir has to fight Tim for a spot in the finale against CB.

Final Prediction: I’m sticking with what I’ve said since the first two episodes, no need to change now. CB vs Tim.

So somebody is getting kicked off for whatever reason……. limo, cctv footage, yada yada yada!!
Am i the only one who thinks in general this season has been a huge disappointment? I think the talent level of the majority of fighters has been very poor overall. Either half decent stand up with no ground game or vice versa.
TUF finales are always weaker than main cards & this one is no different.
Come on ufc lets see you do some grand prixs & let the lesser talent compete. It will give them something to fight for other than just dreaming about winning a belt they know they’ll never win.

Main event:

Evan Tanner (32-7) vs. Kendall Grove (8-5) KENDALL BY TKO RND 2. EVAN LOST HIS KILLER INSTINCT, HE IS ALL ABOUT JUST SURVIVING NOWADAYS.

Main card (televised):

185 lbs.: TUF 7 Finalist #1 vs. TUF 7 Finalist #2 FINALIST #1 LOL
170 lbs.: Diego Sanchez (18-2) vs. Luigi Fioravanti (12-3)DIEGO RND 1 SUB. DIEGO IS OUT TO DISCREDIT HIS LOSSES
170 lbs.: Josh Burkman (9-5) vs. Dustin Hazelett (10-4)JOSH KO RND 2. I CAN JOSH BEING TOO EXPLOSIVE FOR DUSTIN.
155 lbs.: Spencer Fisher (20-4) vs. Jeremy Stephens (13-2)I THINK THIS WILL BE EASIER WIN FOR FISHER THAN MOST PEOPLE THINK. EXPERIENCE WINS

Under card (May not be broadcast):

185 lbs.: Marvin Eastman (15-7-1) vs. Drew McFedries (6-3)DREW RND 1 BY SHATTERED GLASS JAW

I wont lie, I don’t think this fight should be shown on the main card.

I’d much rather see Brown/Arroyo. I know its going to be a slug fest, but I just dont care about Spencer Fisher, he is not that good of a MMA fighter, he is a hell of a stand up artist, but to me, he possesses the skills of Phil Baroni.

I am taking Luigi in a huge upset. Luigi has good wrestling, and has decent stand up, good submission defense and decent submissions, watch UFC 68 Luigi vs. Jon Fitch.. Luigi gave Fitch a lot of problems… heck of a match. I think Luigi’s time is now, and I think he will take this oppourtunity and run with it. I watched Sanchez at 82 and he still did not look THAT good, like how he did before the Kos fight.

As my predictions say above, I’ve got Kendall.

I do hope I’m wrong

Ok, its time for some TRUE TALK!! Jermey Horn has been a legendary mma fighter with over 100 fights, but he is officially DONE!! put a fork in him. Time to retire and become a full time coach. His submissions were always his strong suit and he just got submitted by the worst mme fighter, Dean lister. Horn was never any good on his feet, but if he is going to start getting beaten on the ground then its time to call it a quits. He lost 2 in a row due to submissions. ITS OVER!!!

Well here’s to Amir.

I read constantly about GSP, Silva and Liddel nuthuggers, and I laugh, but my GF says I have a man crush on Amir so I guess the last laugh is on me.

WAR AMIR!

Big win for Matt Brown’s UFC welterweight debut against a slick matt aroyo.

Matt Brown was tuf at middleweight, he may become a serious threat in the distant future of the welterweight division;. Not saying he is one NOw, but he is a prospect for sure.

Lol, more the humility in victory, dude made me laugh every post fight interview.

First time I have genuinely wanted a specific person to win. Every other season I have been indifferent.

Of course the contrast to smug CB probably emphasizes the good qualities of Amir. Either way, the guy is a great ambassador of the sport, I could see CB on SNL, I can see CB starting fights at a bar.

I can see CB hangin’ by the pool in his pre-fight promo tossing some sweet lines like ‘hey babe, do you like dudes in white sunglasses?’ and ‘you know what they say about guys with huge upper lips.’

I, for one, would greatly appreciate blow by blow coverage of the prelims too. That other, formerly good, website does and you should too! J, 4 comments up, Amir , is cool as hell so dont feel bad about diggin him. He could take a shit on a plate and I would sit down and watch it. ( jus kiddin. look for that line in Trailer Park of Terror this Halloween) Look for Dustin to have a good night…traingle or arm bar.

Wasnt there something just after the Sanchez/Luigi fight involving Florian.

The very break just after the fight ended I could swear the screen said something to the likes of Sanchez vs Florian announcement????

Anyone else see that or was I sniffing glue???

It said “SANCHEZ vs FIORAVANTI; COMING UP…OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT”..

There was no mention at all of Kenny Florian.. Ya’ll prolly got mixed up with Fioravanti and Florian.. I tivo’d the fight and went back to clear this up.

BTW: SPencer Fisher DID NOT deserve to win that fight. He fckn lost.

Controlled my a$$..That fight reminded me of the Fitch vs. Diego fight.. How can a fighter win a decision by being on defense most of the time?? Diego repeatedly went for submissons the entire fight. Did you not hear the crowd when Bruce Buffer announced Fisher as the winner?? Complete silence.. And PLEASE post under one name, I can’t stand peeps who change their SN’s after every post.
