That’s what Tito wants more than a belt, for people to know him outside of MMA fans, he wants to have crossover appeal.
Tito would destroy Kimbo. That fight would be bigger than any fight that could happen on Affliction. I don’t respect Kimbo’s position in MMA. But that’s a heavily promoted fight.

For all u new fans who think griffin is a god, u will find out tomorrow night what a top 3 pound for pound fighter in the world (not just UFC, but the WORLD) will look like. The rule changes dont concern me at all for Shogun or Nakamura. Shogun has fought in America under the UFC rules, he has fought in a cage a couple of times. Nakamura doesnt really even use the techniques that were legal in Pride but illegal in the UFC, so that wont affect him. What might affect Nakamura is that he is Japanease, which means he is used to fighting in Japan, in front of a “quiet” crowd. It will be interesting to see how he holds up fighting in front of 20,000 rowdy, drunken, Americans.

Not a huge Ortiz fan, but I could see him beating Kimbo. If he were to go to EliteXC, then he’s Jumped the Shark. Don’t do it Tito. Youll get the cash, but you’ll lose the dignity you have left.
I think Tito would take a fight with Kimbo rather easily. He is imo past his prime, but his ground and pound is still pretty vicious when he gets you down (Watch the first round of the Tito/Forrest fight). If Thompson can get Kimbo down and cause him that much trouble, then I would see Tito able to finish it early
As much as I would love to see Tito vs Kimbo, it will never happen. Gary Shaw will milk Kimbo till EliteXC go’s under, sometime around the end of this year.
This may be the only fight that saves Elite XC. Kimbo lost a lot of respect with his performance, and I think Gary Shaw would prefer Tito beating him rather than Rogers, who nobody has heard of. The winner of Tito/Kimbo would appeal to the average newbie tuning into CBS. The educated MMA fan has already lost respect for Elite XC for what went on the CBS show.
I think Shaw is going to buckle under the pressure and have kimbo fight rogers. tito is an idiot if he signs with exc. and we all know how he’ll fair against affliction fighters. i wasn’t a fan of tito but after seeing this interview i can’t stand him. the only thing he’s famous for is his mouth now. he fought new up and comers to see if they were up to the challenge and every one held they’re own. by him saying dana made the biggest mistake is just down right stupid….honestly liddell(love the guy, the reason why i started training mma)could leave ufc and they would still stay strong.

I would love to see Tito beat Kimbo. That would be a smart move for both EliteXC and Tito. It would shove him into the spotlight and then they could build the company around a real mma fighter.

I think Tito would take a fight with Kimbo rather easily. He is imo past his prime, but his ground and pound is still pretty vicious when he gets you down (Watch the first round of the Tito/Forrest fight). If Thompson can get Kimbo down and cause him that much trouble, then I would see Tito able to finish it early

As much as I would love to see Tito vs Kimbo, it will never happen. Gary Shaw will milk Kimbo till EliteXC go’s under, sometime around the end of this year.
This may be the only fight that saves Elite XC. Kimbo lost a lot of respect with his performance, and I think Gary Shaw would prefer Tito beating him rather than Rogers, who nobody has heard of. The winner of Tito/Kimbo would appeal to the average newbie tuning into CBS. The educated MMA fan has already lost respect for Elite XC for what went on the CBS show.

JV I believe Gary Shaw will jump at this chance to put Tito and Kimbo fight together…reason being he needs a better face to head his fledgling organization and Tito needs a can to better his fight record and up his stock (I doubt fighting Kimbo would do it though)
Tito is a coward. If he had any gutts he would be trying to fight frank shamrock or randy couture or fedor, fighters who have and would kick his ass . But he wants to fight a guy who has zero ground game and limited MMA skills. Tito is a B level fighter at the most and he calls Dana dumb for letting him go. I thought Dana did the right thing, Tito is an overpaid fighter who has not marketable in the UFC anymore.
I can’t blame the guy. I don’t think he’s a coward at all. I think he’s intelligent and knows that his star is on the decline. He’s looking for a big paycheck and he knows that a fight with Kimbo would be huge without hurting (or helping) his stock. Also, by signing with EXC, that makes a rematch with Frank Shamrock that much easier.

As much as I dislike Tito, he would crush Kimbo. Kimbo has no ability to stop a take down and even less ability to get up once taken down, both Tito specialties. Of course, if we learned anything from the Kimbo-Thompson fix, it’s that Kimbo can absorb dozens and dozens of elbows and still properly maneuver his thumb in such a way to indicate that the fight should continue.

I sort of missed Tito’s heyday, but why is he such a big draw? He’s not very entertaining unless he’s getting punched by Chuck. His matchups with Shamrock were when Ken was over the hill. People say he has charisma, but he honestly just sounds kind of stupid to me. I didn’t see him a lot on the apprentice, but what I saw didn’t look too impressive.

Tito needs to get his one dimensional ass in a real training camp and start training with Couture or someone that can really take him to the next level. Why would you go fight cans when at one time you were one of the best. If I were Tito I would go back to the drawing board, get in a different training system and work mainly on striking and Jiu Jitsu, and go sign with affliction because he will lose what little credibility he has left if he goes to Elite XC.

i agree with jimmydean, tito is/was a good fighter but he needs to change his gameplan. evryone he fights knows what hes gonna takedown, then gnp. back in the day it worked but now that the sport has evolved he needs to learn to submit, and punch somebody’s face in. then we’ll see if his opponents will f with tito. go tito!!!

yeees, if Tito had someone that gave him a gameplan like Shawn Tompkins or Juanito i think he’d get better results.. I mean in the last fight he had Ricco telling him to go out there and have fun and double the jab.. he almost submitted Machida from his back so obviously tito’s jiu-jitsu is pretty good.. his clinch game is good too and his boxing is pretty good but he just doesn’t believe in it 100% and always seems to think about the takedown.. also he needs to fight with emotions cause that’s when he fights the best like against Ken Shamrock he was angry as hell..
