Saying anyone will definitely beat GSP is laughable. After GSP ups his BJJ game even more now, BJ won’t stand a chance when they fight.

I’d believe that Kevin, if I didn’t KNOW that GSP ALREADY beat Penn on the ground and he has improved MUCH MORE than Penn. He doesn’t need to up his BJJ ,it will just help. He has way to good of wrestling and top controle for BJ to handle. GSP can and WILL take BJ down when ever he chooses to and then what is BJ going to do. The same as last time (except WAY worse because GSP just mauls guys on the ground now).

Definitly not unbeatable hence the 2 losses . . . On freak mistakes but still, mistakes are what it takes for guys as good as BJ and GSP to lose.
Damn BJ vs GSP is a great fight, but I really wanted to see A. Silva vs GSP, but I guess for Silva; moving down in weight wouldn’t prove shit, maybe A. Silva vs. Liddell will happen..

These divisions are deep enough for you to look past the #1 guy and possibly learn a little something about other fighters rather then always setting up fictional matchups betweem fighters who have NOT dominated thier divisions (outside of Silva).

Thanks Pat, you’re right, When I said ,BJ doesn’t stand a chance”, it was more of a figure of speech. Now that I went back and read it,it does sound stupid. Not having a chance and definitely beating someone is pretty much the same thing. Of course BJ has a chance, I just don’t think it is a good chance. That’s what I meant to say anyhow.
Fitch better than BJ and Hughes fours years ago?
This is the only time I will be able to post today. Tomorrow is my last day of finals, so I have some grinding to do.
As for Fitch. Besides BJ Penn, he will be GSP’s toughest opponent that he has ever faced. I think gSP is going to win, but us fans will get our moneys worth because it will last atleast 3 rounds. It should be competitive and entertaining. UFC 87 turned amazing! I remember months ago, when I thought that the main event was going to be Brock vs. Coleman, I* was soooo Pissed. Its amazing to see how much the card has improved. Could Affliction putting out a monster card, have something to do with the UFC stepping its game up and providing a super stacked card in the 1st event after Afflictions event? Who knows, what I do know is competition is always good and if Affliction sticks around, they will push the UFC to put out stacked cards more consistently.
JV: This is why you are the looser that you are, and I try not wasting my time with you. You bring up like 3 out of the total 6 fights that I was wrong about in the past year and a half…what a Klown! I dont have to validate myself to you, cause you are a noodle! All I know is I do pretty well betting on mma. I started my account 2 and a half years ago with $200 and I have built it to a little over $10,000. I havent lost money on an event in a long time. I usually always pick at least 75% correct at every event. THOSE ARE THE FACTS!!! I have predicted so many upsets this year and you have the audacity to go dig up like 2 that I was wrong about? Do u really think of me so highly that you expect me to be a 100% correct about everything? Thats an honor man, but I dont think any man alive can pick 100% correct on a constant basis. When it comes time for me to bet money, I depend on the oppinions of many of the bloggers on this sight whom I respect such as ViolentMike, Kevin, Philqny, mr Nc-17, Anomaly, Kma Kaze, B.W, BNF, Chefdaddy, Linxm Adam G, Buster Bluth and many other very insightful bloggers. YOu my friend, are definetly not 1 of them! If I had to guess, I would say that you are some 16 year old kid…am I right? lol I look to the above named bloggers to give me their insight on matches that I am thinking about betting, so thjat I can make sure I have all the basis covered. I really on those people to ARGUE with me because when we engage in intelligenbt debates, it is a way of considering all possabilities and making sure that no aspects of the fight have been over looked. There are no right and wrong oppinions, but debating matches with some intelligent and insightful people has really helped step my betting game up!

Kevin: This is my last week, then I have a week off anfd then the new semester starts right back up. Drexel has 4 semesters instead of 3 like most schools, So I will be at school all summer.
As for the 10K in my betting account, it has kind of turned into my savings account, I dont really ever touch it. I have yet to take $ out of it, I just keep letting it accumulate and I get to play with house money, basically!

Alright Gord, Adam(G), listen here ya’ll ha, nah for real, im suprisingly gonna not try adn make this into GSP and Penn, we have debated that so many times, we will on every other GSP or Penn thread, and those 2 are bound to happen, but this time it is about Fitch and GSP, lets give Fitch his respect, cuz he has a very good chance of ruining Penn/GSP anyway.
Fitch has a better chance I think then Kos of beating GSP, he is big and can post out his base wide, with his longer limbs, which will make him hard to control, GSP has never had to face a guy taht he is naturally smaller then until now. SHould be intersting. I think GSP will win, but I think it will be relatively competitive. You never know, like Randy, John alwasy comes out adn suprises, he rises to the occasion, GSP better come out ready. I give John a better chance a beating GSP, then Sherk had against Penn, so all of us who want to see Penn/GSP 2, have got to be a little nervous.

Serious man, and just out of respect for John Fitch ya know? I gotta stop myself from turning every thread into a BJ Penn thread.
ANyway yeah like I was sayin, my analysis is that realistically, the significant portion of this fight will not happen on the feet, Fitch has good sub defense, but this is GSP were talking about. Wrestling could get to a semi nuetral stale mate, but I think more then GSP’s strength and slightly better wrestling making the difference, I think it will be the BJJ of it. And I don’t say this because of his trip to Brazil right now, but I think he has just showed it better in the past then Fitch has.
Like GSP said, in cards you dont show your hand. Like in the Serra fight he surprised everyone by beating Serra on the ground, i think he’ll stand and completely outstrike Fitch (knowing that Fitch said hes affraid to stand now, since Serra1)
Adam, he didn’t surprise me one bit that he beat Serra on the ground. I said,” he would RAPE serra everywhere”. Now Anomaly I agree GSP has to beat Fitch for the rematch to happen (at least in the near future), but no worries, GSP WILL take care of business. People have always said Hughes, Sherk,Kos and even Trigg had close or better wrestling than GSP. Fitch is in their leage, not GSP’s when it comes to wrestling. By far, GSP is the best wrestler in the WW division, if not the UFC (I can’t think of anyone who can take a great wrestler down and CONTROL them like GSP does). Wilson is a good fighter and so is Diego, but they went the distance with Fitch in a close fight. GSP is still improving RAPIDLY and he will be better than he was in his last fight. I hope Fitch is improving at an astronomical rate or it will be a very lopsided fight. If we go by each of their last 2 fights, GSP owes Fitch. It might be a little closer than the Hughes and Serra fight,but it will still be a one sided beat down.

I think he has what it take on the ground to finish Silva where others have failed, so does GSP. These guys ae the best at what they do!! A mistake is the only way they lose and i think GSP and BJ have made theirs and arent going to be making anymore anytime soon, its about if the guy across the ring is good enough to capitalize on that mistake or let it go unnoticed.
What about Anderson Silva? He’ll dominate for a while too.
Oh, he’ll dominate!! He just has a smooth look, like the dance he does at the end of each fight, a little shimmy a little shake, he wears that dance on his face, ike im here to do my thing and head home, nothing to worry about. But when he gets those strikes going and see’s his opponent fading or their weakness, the killer (finishers) look does come out briefly.
I have said this in a previous thread, Anderson Silva would kill BJ. It wouldn’t even be close and it’s not even arguable. Everyone (including me) thought that Hendo was a real bad fight for Anderson and he just dominated Hendo and Wandy didn’t even dominate Hendo in their first fight. I am a BJ fan but I have to be real. The Spider is the best P4P fighter in the world so as much as I hate to say it. Anybody can have a an elite favorite fighter and make a case for them as being the best but Anderson really is the best right now and I’m not even a fan.
Dominant finish,yes, dominated him, NO. Although Hendo didn’t really do much damage, he dominated the 1st round.
Well excuse me, he dominated the second round of a five round fight. Dan layed on top for much of the first round so if you want to call that dominating. More like lay and pray.
Ya, I’d call when you are in CONTROL of the fight, dominating. This isn’t boxing so get used to the fact that the ground is every bit (if not more) important than standing. Why do some people hold striking in such high regard. The truth is,if you take just a boxer (striker) and a pure wrestler, the wrestler will win pretty much every time in an MMA fight (watch early UFC). The key is to be well rounded,but it’s hard to beat a great wrestler (who is well rounded)if he knows how to use his advantage. Hendo admited he didn’t fight smart, he thought he could stand with Silva (big mistake). If he would have STUCK to his strength he could have repeated the 1st round until Silva got tired or just won a decision by controling Silva. Strike and pray (that you don’t get taken down and mauled) is no different than a ground guy using his strengths on the ground. The M stands for MIXED in MMA and it would be call SMA if it was all about STRIKING.
Not being a BJ fan I hope they put this fight together. GSP will own him.

Well seeing as how he didn’t fight him yet it’s really not correct. You get the point regardless … no need to nitpick.
Looks like St. Pierre’s team is pretty smart training down in Brazil. I’m from Fort Wayne and I’ve seen all of Jon Fitch’s fights. And I’d have to say that St. Pierre’s strategy is gonna be a submission from the bottom. Fitch is the better wrestler and will take him down. There’s no doubt in my mind that this will happen. St. Pierre wouldn’t be smart to try to out wrestle a wrestler. Fitch was the Purdue wrestling team captain and let me tell you that Big 10 wrestling is no joke. It alway has the best college wrestlers in the world.
Fitch’s “Achilles Heal” is his ability to get himself caught in those damn triangle chokes and arm bars. Almost every one of Fitch’s fights I’ve found myself yelling at the TV with some advice on how to get out of those submissions. He has gotten pretty lucky and has been able to pry his way out of all of them so far. Fitch is my boy since he’s from the 260, but he’s gotta watch those submissions if/when he gets on top.
If St. Pierre can fine tune his jits, then he might pull it out. I really hope he doesn’t and Fitch takes the title back to Fort Wayne. He’s Fitch, Bitch!

I also think that the GSP vs Penn fight should be the next mega fight that gets set up. I think this is the fight most fans want to see. I dont know why some people are saying that the timing isnt right because GSP has more fights before the Penn fight gets set up….like who? GSP vs Alves…no way, the UFC doesnt trust that fat ass. Can’t say Fitch is a better wrestler than Koscheck (National Div I wres Champ) and GSP out wrestled Kos. In MMA GSP will out wrestle/punch/kick etc… everything better than Fitch.
St. Pierre was able to out wrestle Koscheck and Hughes. He is a great wrestler and trained with the Canadian Olympic team. I think that Fitch is outclassed almost everywhere in this fight. Of course, that is just on paper, not a guarantee of the outcome. I would definately go with GSP on this one though.
I would like to see him rematch B.J. as well, but I also think that GSP is better than Penn in most areas too, just not BJJ.

Adam G – Florian will destroy Huerta in the first round. Take it to the bank. Huerta is a great marketing tool with a massive heart. He survived 2 and a half rounds of beating from an always sloppy yet game Guida before tiring him out. Kenny is too much skill for Huerta’s heart. His striking is better and his bjj is better.

I always see comments about casual fans, myself only being around MMA for a few years, if anyone truly wants to know and be up to date on fighters they can find this site. I may not be the most popular person here but I respect what everyone has to say. If VM says someone is bad azz I look that guy up. To be worried about Kimbo “Who Cares” Slice being the face of MMA any fan of any nature who takes 2 seconds to listen to you guys will know better.

It’s cool I don’t like fighters that most do but I always read what is posted to to help me. Give other organizations some credit they don’t have all the power and stroke as UFC but it helps all of us to learn who the fighters are.

Thats what I do. I didnt know who Shane Carwin was, now that he’s one of the UFC’s prospects, I looked him up. He looks like he’ll be a beast, but only time will tell.
I just don’t know why these So Called Vets are worried about Kimbo and his impact on this sport. Kimbo will get his a.. handed to him the first time he fights a legit fighter. As the saying goes its the haters that give a person the power.
Thats what i do, look up anyone or anything i dont know before i reply about the subject im new on.
My problem is I don’t like alot of the more infamous fighters like BJ. Ya sure he is good but his heart is only in it when it is personal. If GSP doesn’t make it personel BJ will lose.
I think its personal for BJ no matter what GSP does. He wants to be the best, its become like his quest or something, and to be that guy he has to get past GSP. GSP could message BJ’s feet everyday leading up to the fight and BJ will still want that win more than anything ya know. Not personal in a bad way like “he sucks” or negative stuff, but personal like “i want to beat the best and everyone thinks GSP is the best, except me. I think im the best, im goin to show the world” kind of personal, personal to his heart and to the legend he’ll leave behind. Thats why i love BJ, he’ll never stop til its completed, the legacy he forsees, its not completed til theres no one left in the debate for the best fighter ever and forever.

Don’t care. BJ’s natural ability and talent he posses on the BJJ level is unbelievable. GSP can try all he wants but that’s BJ’s game.
GSP would overwhelm BJ….plain and simple. No, not quick….but eventually. His size, strength, and athleticism would be too much for BJ to withstand for more than three rounds.
GSP’s BJJ is never gonna catch up to BJ’s. I think he’s just getting it to a level where he won’t get mounted or RNC’d like so many of BJ’s opponents.
i would love to see GSP vs bj penn 2 .. GSP would destroy BJ if they fought again. In the 1st rd BJ poked gsp in the eye so badly his eye was bleeding and gsp sill beat him If that didnt happen GSP would of finished that fight early.
laughable, you act as if BJ isnt in the top 5 on every P4P list in the world, and on most of them its the top3. You act as if BJ is Kimbo or something, a no talent hack. Destroy, not even close to whats goin to happen. What about the rest of GSP’s face, did he eye poke all of that to?? GSP never even hit Penn except for with a leg kick or two. All take downs and holding a tired out of shape BJ down or against the fence. BJ went to a bar after their first fight while GSP wen to the hospital. Adam, the rest of the damage on GSP’s face was a product of GSP fighting with blurred vision. The fight should have been stopped and GSP should have been given the chance to recover. He was given it, and GSP stuck it out like a man and survived, which is exactly what he needed to do. I don’t know about you but if I had to fight someone while seeing double I’d probably end up getting my face messed up too.

totally agreed, i ended up scanning through most of it quickly. I was interested in GSP and Fitch information and all i find is friggin BJ Penn posts.

I think GSP will win this fight in the same manner that he beat KOS. I just don’t think Fitch is on the same level as GSP, but then again anyone can win a fight on any given day.
As far as BJ goes, yes I’m a fan of his but when I look at fights I try to bias. I would love to see an in shape BJ goes against GSP cause I feel the fight would be a stand up war with the fight going either way. Do I think BJ would dominate GSP..No, do I think GSP would dominate BJ…No, but that’s just my opinion
That fight would definately hit the ground. and GSP would wear out BJ so fast he would just be going to lazy attempts at submissions cause he will gas. his cardio hasnt been tested yet. If sherk would have taken it to the ground and if bj survived a round or two, i would give him the respect he deserves. Not saying he isnt a top fighter, just cant hang with the GSP’s or Anderson silva’s or Rampage’s. he doesnt have knock out power in my opinion, and that the way everybody on here talks him up to be GOD or something, its getting pretty annoying.

jon has nothing on gsp. Gsp’s biggest weakness is his bjj and he’s smart to work on his weakest link. Alves style to me is harder for gsp than fitch. I think gsp will beat them all even penn, I want to see gsp/penn 2, I predict gsp to win.
I’ve been to 6 out of the last 9 UFCs. GPS will dominate Fitch for sure, Fitch is tough, and has beaten some top fighters, but just look at GSP’s recent cards, definitely he’s beaten more of the whose who in the WW division. Wrestling, advantage GSP, athleticism, GSP, power, GSP, ground game GSP… True that anyone can win on any given day, but a betting man would pick GSP to win for sure, I predict this won’t go past the 3rd round.. GSP will stuff Fitch’s takedowns, GSP will overpower Fitch in all aspects…. Looking forward to the fight, but honestly I can’t see Fitch winning this unless he catches GSP with a solid punch/head kick that stuns GSP as GPSs only weakness is his chin…. — oh, and GSP totally owns BJ, BJ/GSP-2 would be awesome, but GSP would dominate now, he’s only getting better, BJ is the same as he’s been for last few years, nothing much has improved in his style at all…
