wec weigh-in results

The official weigh-ins for the WEC 34: “Faber vs. Pulver” took place yesterday for the blockbuster event tonight that is set to go off LIVE from the Arco Arena in Sacramento, Calif., and air on the Versus network at 9 p.m. ET.

It seems as though everything went according to plan — each fighter made his respective weight without any issues.

That’s great news because this is the most star-studded show in the relatively brief history of the promotion. WEC Featherweight Champion Urijah Faber will take on former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver in the main event and WEC Bantamweight titleholder Miguel Torress will put his 135-pound strap on the line against Yoshiro Maeda.

There’s a lot more than that … this is some great mixed martial arts action. And we need it.

Here are the official scale-tipping results for WEC 34:

145 lbs.: Jens Pulver (145) vs Urijah Faber (144.5)
135 lbs.: Yoshiro Maeda (135) vs Miguel Torres (135)
155 lbs.: Kenneth Alexander (155.5) vs Rob McCullough (155.5)
205 lbs.: Chuck Grigsby (204.5) vs Mark Munoz (205.5)
155 lbs.: Donald Cerrone (155.5) vs Danny Castillo (155)
145 lbs.: Mike Brown (145) vs Jeff Curran (144.5)
135 lbs.: Will Ribeiro (135) vs Chase Beebe (136)
185 lbs.: Jeremy Lang (183.5) vs Tim McKenzie (184.5)
170 lbs.: Luis Sapo (170) vs Alex Serdyukov (169.5)
145 lbs.: Alexandre Nogueira (145.5) vs Jose Aldo (145.5)
135 lbs.: Dominick Cruz (135) vs Charlie Valencia (135.5)

*Note: Fighters are allowed to weigh one pound more than the division limit in non-title fights.

Remember that MMAmania.com will provide results coverage of the main and prelim card action, beginning at around 7:30 p.m. ET.

Definitely check in before, during and after the the “Faber vs. Pulver” event for all the coverage and discussion you can handle.

Pulver by k.o. but the fight could go either way. I am sure this will be a great show unlike the other promotions that boosts unproven fighters and give no love to the legit ones.

I agree – could go either way, but I am predicting Faber will come out on top.

WEC is brilliant!

After last nights mass market freak show, we get to see some “real” fights.

This will show that EliteXC is complete bullshit and Gary Shaw is the Don King of MMA promotion. All hype, no talent.

gary shaw said that the winner of brett rogers and that other douche could be next in line for kimbo fag-eson so does that mean all that trash talking was planned???? Suddenly Elite xc looks more and more like WWE. Bunch of actors hyping stupid storylines.

I woke up today and thought I had a bad dream about MMA, but when i finally realized that it was not a dream and all reality after watching last nights elite puke C event. I calmed down and remembered that WEC was tonight and that everything was gonna be alright. Kimslow tapped, and the fight should have been stopped in the 2nd. Horrible horrible I wont ever watch anything elite puke c put on again. I wanna apologize to Spike and my boy Chuck i should have watched the tribute to ya last night instead….

Cannot wait for the Faber Pulver bout or to see Torres again. Im quite surprised theres been so little talk about him in the run up to the event.

Well, Pulver vs. Faber this fight is your clash of Striker vs. Grappler. I mean, Pulver at 145 is a different kind of dude rather than how he was at 155.

But still, look at the people Pulver has had problems with in his past, bigger stronger grapplers that push the pace and take him to the ground. That is exactly what Urijah Faber wants to do against Jens Pulver.

I am a huge Pulver fan, and a big Faber fan, so its hard for me really to cheer for one of these guys, but considering that Faber has more tools in the belt, and can take the fight anywhere, I see him stopping Pulver in the 2nd with vicious ground and pound.

Im really interested in the return of Razor Rob. Can he rebound back from his vicious beatdown courtesy of Jamie Varner? Is Razor Rob going to come out vicious and look to make a statement and why he was the champion for that period of time? If he makes a statement, could we see a Varner/Rob if both are victorious in their respected fights?

On the same card as Varner, Carlos Condit is fighting Miura. So August 3rd, there are 3 title fights.

Carlos Condit vs. Miura
Brian Stann vs. Steve Cantwell
Jamie Varner vs. Marcus Hicks

Now, WEC nows how to make cards.

Man all this hate on ELiteXC in and of itself is one thing, but I just feel bad for the fighters out there like Lawler/Smith, that was awesome, nothing short of Bonner/Forrest in my opinion, and they shoudl be recognized for that.
Hell even Kimbo shouldnt be hated on as bad, so what if he aint in the top ten yet, he doesnt claim to be, he is getting better slowly though, and he doesnt talk shit, he jsut fights, he had a bad fight, so what everybody does, its Gary SHaw and there promoting that is the problem.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the Torres fight will be the fight of the night.

And the Pulver/Faber fight will be over in the first.

And thank you WEC for giving me more MMA instantly so that I can put that “TNA EXPLOSSSIOOOOOOON Elite XC” memory behind me so quickly. Never seen an event that made me wish I was watching BodogFIGHTs instead.

You know that EliteXC is bad when you’d rather watch a Bodog fight card.

EliteXC needs to dump Shaw ASAP. Thankfully there is the WEC card tonight to wash away yesterday’s nightmare. Elite XC on CBS was sad.
