Carlos Condit Hiromitsu Miura
WEC Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit — who is in Sacramento, Calif., this weekend to sign autographs for the “Faber vs. Pulver” event — is expected to put his 170-pound title on the line against Hiromitsu Miura (9-4) at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 3.

It will be the third title fight of the evening, joining the lightweight showdown between 155-pound champion Jamie Varner against Marcus Hicks, as well as the 205-pound tile between WEC Light Heavyweight Champion Brian Stann and challenger Steve Cantwell.

Condit is clearly among the best welterweight fighters in the world. “The Natural Born Killer” has won his last four WEC contests — all via submission — and only one of them made it past the first round. Condit most recently avenged a loss to Carlos Prater at WEC 32 in his hometown of Albuquerque, N.M., and will look to add Miura to his hitlist in August.

Miura, on the other hand, is on a two-fight win streak in the WEC, defeating Blas Avena (knockout) and Fernando Gonzalez via submission (strikes) in back-to-back fights. He has just one loss since 2006 (Jason “Mayhem” Miller).

Miura is very well rounded and is a stiff test for the champion.

WEC 35 is shaping up to be a “Night of Champions” event with three WEC titles expected to be up for grabs on August 3. These fights — and more — should all be made official later on this evening during the WEC 34: “Faber vs Pulver” on Versus at 9 p.m. ET.

Stay tuned for more details and fight card updates.

I dunno, I suppose now that he has gotten that big & good, I would like to see him move on up to UFC and fight some big dogs. Out of all the WEC champs I think he is most dominant, why dominate the minor leagues forever ya know? When you could move up & make somemore reallly good fights with Bisbing,Franklin, Leben, whoever.

(I realize Faber is a more dominent champ possibly but as far as 145′ers go there is nowhere bigger then where he is right now.)

Condit is a welterweight, not a middleweight. But I do agree they should move him up. He’s pretty much cleaned out the division in the WEC. A good starting fight could be between him and Diego Sanchez. They are both from Albuquerque and would just be an overall good fight.

Shit, I know that I swear, I don’t konw what I was thinkin.
But yeah that makes it even better, there are a grip of matches in WW he could take while attempting a run to the top. He dominated WEC, time to be movin on up.

Carlos is a good fighter, but I can’t stand that “tough guy” look he puts on in the cage. He looks like David Arquette trying to look scary.

the big difference is that Carlos can back it up, arquette can’t.. unless you count Arquette’s run as the “WCW Heavyweight Champion” lol

Carlos Condit is among the best WW’s in the world??? Consider for a moment, how Condit would fare against George St.Pierre. Not only would GSP beat Condit, he would absolutely DESTROY him. Condit would be hospitalized after that fight.

I want to see Carlos vs. Diego….that would be an exciting fight. Especially since they are both from Albuquerque. Carlos needs to start fighting some real competition before he starts getting too comfortable where he is at.
