Although Dana is an idiot who is slowly losing all his best talent because he IS a CHEAP BASTARD!! (and offers his fighters virtually no benefits), I will agree with him on the feeling that female MMA will not become mainstream anytime soon.
Although I totally respect their abilities…..I for one still have a hard time watching a hot chick get smashed!

No she has only 5 fights under her belt and they are playing her up like they are Kimbo. She looks pretty and she is American Gladiators. Her fights are too easy going until she gets mad, I have seen both fighters and Young is going to smack the hell out of her. Fitness and training are an issue here where Gina is not doing to great with either.

I don’t know THORAZINE I’m not sure I agree with you. If you watch Youngs fights they have been against people who try to stand with her but as soon as they get hit they go down. Their idea of a KO win is she kicked them in the ribs and they couldn’t handle the pain. I would almost compare the fights to a high school fight where one person just dominates while the other curls up into a ball. I won’t take away from Gina or Young because they are both tough so this is a good show casing. However every time I hear about really great female MMA fighters, only 2 or 3 names come up and they are usually the same. 10 to 15 people will get put in order very quickly and I’m not sure if it’ll be interesting enough. Good luck to the WMMA community though.

I believe the term MMA has been “lost in translation”, meaning many really do not get what MMA is. MMA is a combination of different “Martial Arts”. Its not some human cock fighting where, only men should do. I believe Bruce Lee, put it best, “Martial Arts, is the combative expression of the human spirit”. For those who really want to know what MMA is you should read, “The Tao of Jeet Kun”, by Bruce Lee. I believe once you start looking at MMA in that light, the squeamishness will pass. Also, is everyone forgetting that UFC’s first break into the spot light was on, “SPIKE TV”, if it had not been for the TUF series and showing it live on a tv network, UFC would not have had the sucess it has now. Its a good decission by Shaw to do because, lets face it, its free and it will reach a lot more people that way rather than via PPV. As it stands now a UFC event is about 50 bucks right now, and for those that have not yet become a fan and want to know more about the sport; asking them to fork out 50 bucks for an event is a bit reaching. It would be more presumable that they would rather watch it for free.
