arlovski

Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski is expected to announce his future fight plans at a press conference today in Los Angeles, Calif., according to several published reports.

There’s speculation that the Chicago-based fighter will reveal that he has signed on with either Affliction or Adrenaline MMA and take on Ben Rothwell at the “Banned” event set for the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., on July 19.

Perhaps Adrenaline MMA gave us all the scoop before the big announcement — “The Pitbull” is listed on the fighter roster on the Web site. It might not mean he’s signed an exclusive deal, but it could mean something (Fedor Emelianenko is also listed and he’s fighting Sylvia on July 19; however, it’s unlikely that he is considered and Adrenaline MMA fighter).

Regardless, expect a formal announcement one way or the other shortly.

I am happy andre is leaving the UFC. Arlovski was with the UFC for years and they never gave us any real fights with him. They had him fight Sylvia 3 times and thats it. Why was there never a Couture vs. Arlovski fight booked. Why hasnt he faced Vera, Cro Cop, Gonzaga? Instead he was wasted by fighting Pan de Pano Cruz and Werdum when he was still wet behind the years.

I am happy that he is leaving, because Affliction and Adrenaline seem to know what to do with him,. If he signs with those organizations we can look forward to Andre vs:
Ben Rothwell (which will be a WAR)
Aleks Emelienenko
Fedor
Couture
Josh Barnett

Andre leaving is a great thing for us fans! He will be back eventually anyway. For now its a great move!

i agree john. if they werent gonna have him fight big nog, then adreneline/affliction is by far the best place for a.a. i really think there gonna pull off 3 shows this year. after that then we’ll see. but there are gonna be some huge fights at hw and i cant wait. i think the ufc is going w/ the youth movement at hw right now. they have enough stars below this weight class to actually be able to do this and still thrive. lucky them. and lucky us for monte cox.

I did want him to resign with the UFC, not so much anymore. There are alot better match ups for him outside the UFC I think.

alright guys, here’s my final thoughts on the weekends fights. For those telling me I’m crazy and stupid saying that Machida is boring, please name a true champion that is “elusive?” Chuck, BJ, GSP, Randy, etc. Nope!! He may be elusive, and I get his strategy, but in my opinion, it’s boring!!
I think BJ will defeat GSP, and it will be around New Years. Getting the winner of Florian and Huerta makes no sense. Who have they beat? While I don’t like Sherk, look at who his 3 losses are to. Florian/Huerta is a step down, and don’t interest me at all except just to see BJ fight!
A legend is back, and I for one want to see Vandy/Chuck 2!!!
Tito WILL BE BACK IN the UFC!!
Lastly, I got a drinking game for you guys, take a shot every time Tito or Jenna tell you how intelligent they are. Their patting each others backs and actually thinking they are Rhode scholars is laughable…YOU’RE A FIGHTER/THUG AND A COCK DISPENSARY!!

GSP will crush BJ. because his plan wont be to box with him for three rounds and let him salvage his still questionable gastank, like sherk, wtf? and even still, BJ was blowing pretty hard after those three rounds of hard-sparring. GSP will not get caught in a submission. he is much stronger and more explosive than sherk, and will plant BJ many times and do what he does, immediately passing to half guard and dropping bows. and by round 2 or 3 BJ will have shit the bed again and GSP will start to take over the standup and then put BJ on his ass again and work him over until the ref calls it or time expires and the call a lopsided decision in GSP’s favour. you can say what you want about BJ being in shape and now being the best, but BJ was of the same skill level then, with the same camp, he just manned up and trained right finally. GSP has since grown tremendously as a fighter, learning new skillsets and improving his strengths, changed to one of the best camps in the world with some of the best gameplanning (except for jardine vs silva, shit), and he is bigger, stronger and faster than BJ. all the BJ nuthuggers who are already calling for idiocy like him beating GSP and then fighting Anderson should calm the hell down. GSP will show BJ and the rest of these fanboys why he and Silva are heads and tails above the rest. i like BJ, and he is hilarious and one of the best there is, but he is not the second coming, and sherk helped hand him that win by playing right into his hands. if he showed something new against GSP, id give him his due. but until then, he hasnt shown us what GSP or Anderson Silva has, and i dont believe he is prepared to handle either of those fighters given their evolution since BJ last fought above lightweight.

he didn’t show anything new. so he’s known for placing a jab over and over onto someone’s face? BJ isn’t Matt Serra, he would dominate GSP on the ground

I kind of hope he goes at this stage. Definitely a tonne of excellent matchups outside the UFC. He could fight Fedor, Aleks, Barnett, Crocop, even Le Banner. Then there’s Hunt, Tim, Sergei plus Ricco Rodriguez another guy he could easily beat who has a win over him. I’m sure there’s loads of others. Hell I’d like to see him fight Kimbo though it will never happen.

I’d actually like to see him fight Overeem for the Strikeforce HW belt and after he beats him, let him unify belts with a fight against Tim or Fedor or whoever, (the DREAM champ if it’s Crocop).

yep,

I don’t blame AA for leaving as I would too. Shame on you Dana. That was an arrogant mistake, and I hope Tito leaves too, not that I care much for him but If this shit keeps on piling up, Dana can kiss his job goodbye. “I made a mistake with Andrei Arlovski…” Whatever you arrogant jerk.

Nowhere on there does it say “Meet ADRENALINE fighters”. I mean, whats to say Andrei can’t go to a local MMA show and be apart of a meet and greet?

Just cause his name is on the list of fighters doesnt necessarily mean he’s signed with them. He’s still listed as a fighter on UFC.com too. When Timmy left the UFC, his name didn’t stay for long.

As much as Dana has done for the UFC to grow and be what it is now the reality now is that figfhters are not happy with their contracts. AA is a fighter the UFC cannot afford to lose. I just wonder what is going on. As a fan everything that has to do with the UFC matters to me. This is my favorite sport and has become part of my life in the last seven years. Please STOP LOSING FIGHTERS!,or they will end up making deals with other organizations out there.

Arlovski is one of my favorite fighters it sucks to see that he might go but i agree the U.F.C. needs to give more exciting matchups this guy is so awesome to watch remember that flash knockout of Paul buentello that was crazy! He is still young and hopefully he gets his do i mean this guy has been around pay the guy. Look at tim he took off which i agree with cause he sucks he either can’t finish the guy he’s fighting or get’s submitted by the guy the fans hated the douche bag so sylvia won’t be missed in the U.F.C.

I need an assist. It wa my understanding that UFC refs were under contract with the UFC. However, I noticed that Herb Dean will be officiating some Adrenaline bouts. Does anyone know if UFC officials are under exclusive contract with the UFC? Thank you.

Comment by eazye

No. The only ref that was under “exclusive” terms was Big John. Herb, Mario, Maz, and the others ref a lot of other organizations. I remember Mario being involved in the fight for EXC when Lawler beat Ninja for the title. I’ve seen Maz on Showtime and Herb does a bunch of other fights too.

I like AA fights…..Adrenaline MMA and Affliction are expecting to be big money makers. That’s why all the fighters wann go fight for them. But when those shows don’t make their numbers expected everyone will either go to ProElite ( Elite XC, Strikeforce, ect.) UFC, or Dream and maybe even K-1. Yeah I don’t think thesetwo promotions will last long. Look at DREAM……….
