jason day
Well, it’s two weeks away from my fight with Michael Bisping at UFC 85: “Bedlam” on June 7 and I am cruising along.

My weight is perfect and my training is going smooth. The first week of sport-specific training always kicks the crap out of me. It is physically exhausting, but it definitely helps me to peak at the right time.

Victor Valimaki came down from Edmonton to help put a little more heat on me through my rounds. It always helps to bring in guys to get a different energy and a different skill set. Valimaki is a tank — his size and strength definitely pushed my limits both standing and on the ground.

I always appreciate other fighters stepping up to help me.

My diet and micro-alignment coach from BodyArtFitness.com, Tanya Lee, noticed a trend with me: I get sick a few weeks before my fights. Therefore, this time we stayed on top of my immune system and I have been healthy all the way through my training.

It is an extra boost to my confidence knowing that I have been healthy throughout my training camp.

I capped off the week by taking in UFC 84: “Ill Will” on Saturday night. I thought the fights were great. I had picked BJ Penn to win but I didn’t think it would end like that, Sherk is a tank and BJ took it to him and ended it in exciting fashion.

It was awesome to see Wanderlei back in form — he is definitely one of my favorite fighters and I am glad to see him come out with the victory in the fashion he is accustomed to.

I am look forward to one last week of grinding before I leave for London, England. It is hard to describe the feelings and emotions leading up to the fight. Nervousness, anticipation and most of all anxiousness all play a big role leading up.

It is a rollercoaster ride for sure. I love it and I can’t wait to get in the cage let it all out. I have never been so eager to fight in my life … it will be a WAR!

Jason Day is a top Canadian mixed martial artist who was successful in his Octagon debut against Alan Belcher at UFC 83: “Serra vs. St. Pierre 2″ on April 19. UFC President Dana White referred to his performance that night as “amazing” and has rewarded him with a high profile fight against The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 3 light heavyweight winner, Michael Bisping. Day is on a red hot five-fight win streak, which he will put on the line against “The Count” at UFC 85: “Bedlam” at the O2 Arena in London, England, on June 7. He’ll detail his preparation for the bout right here at MMAmania.com with frequent updates. He would like to thank his sponsors Hardcor Fightwear & Apparel and BodyArt Fitness. I really hope he beats Bisping, that would be so sweet.

What’s the game plan for Bisping? Even though I don’t think Bisping is super strong on the feet, that’s where he likes to keep it. He likes to throw knees, which I do think is a strength of his.

I’d like to see it on the feet for the first round, see if you can land something and rock him — like Hammil and Elvis did. Then, at the end of the 1st or sometime in the second, take Bisping down and submit him. However, he’s real scrappy on the ground too.

In fact, that’s how I would describe Bisping. Not real strong or technical anywhere, just a scrappy fighter who can hurt you if you let yourself open.

I think Bisping’s weakness is his desire to stand and strike, even though he’s not real good at it. lol

Good assessment. “Scrappy” and “crisp” won’t ever win a title.

It’s going to be a grinding battle and Bisping will win it.

On a side note… anyone else notice on their UFC fantasy (if they play it) that it says Antoni Hardonk vs. Eddie Sanchez? It still shows Hardonk vs. Wain on the event stats though.

Damn I just looked at his pro record. Whether he won or lost he has only been to the 3rd round once and it was against David Louseau (a fight in which he won). Actually looks like the complete opposite of GAY ASSS MACHIDAS RECORD. GOD I HATE MACHIDA!!!

I hope Day beats the living piss out of the overhyped, UFC’s personal ticket into the UK, spoon fed Bisping.

I wouldnt hate him so much if he actually beat some decent guys. But to talk shit when the group of fighters that you beat were, well, horrible( WW’s pointon and Haynes who cnt win in small shows these days, 1 dimensional hand picked for Bispign to win - McCarthy, Schaffer, and Sinosec. The to talk shit when the UFC judges GAVE him that fight. I mean Bisping was thrown around like a rag doll. 85-90 of polls across the internet had Hammil winning, so minus the BIsping nuthuggers……EVERYONE thought Hammil won.

I could go on and on. Some fighters fight tooth and nail to try and get somewhere and make a name in the sport. and then you got arrogant Bisping who was spoon fed very, very beatable opponents so he could gain a name and make the UFC into the UK. Some haev to fight very very difficult opponents and get booted from the UFC. Whiel guys liek Bisping get in and haev a name just because the UFC needed him to have one.

I mean Hammil won and even Sinosec should of won. And Rashad, gassed after round 2, Bisping couldnt finish.

So good luck Jason Day. This is great for you can make your name by beating and exposing Bisping. Make your name before he loses against top competition and people realize that he is just an average, dime a dozen fighters. KTFO outta him!!!!!

i agree i thought hammil won, controlled the octogon walking him down, inflicted more damage and got a few take downs, bisping only landed a few more jabs but they wernt very effective. “go back to wrestling” was unprofesional too. i hope day pulls off the upset here but it won’t be easy for him..

I agree. Losing a fight due to a jab must be like getting pecked to death by a chicken. (Takes a lot to do very little damage.)

All the Bisping haters will be crying when he convincingly beats Day. Then the excuses will come out that Day didn’t have enough time to train etc. Dont forget when he was in TUF house the other fighters who lost were given a chance to fight him to make it through and ALL the LHW shit it. Bisping has problems with wrestlers like Hammil & Evans who have no ground game and lay on top of him. Day will be TKO Round 2.

I agree with most, but I don’t know how you can say that Elivis Sinosic SHOULD have won that fight…

If Day beats Bisping it will be interesting to see if the UFC starts promoting Day as much as they have Bisping.

There is more to mma than ufc. Yet fightfan earlier only lists bispings ufc career.

Bisping has some good victories before ufc - Epstein twice for one.

Also if anyone really thinks the Bisping - Hamil decision was deliberately rigged then I suggest you take the ultimate stance and stop watching the UFC. It was a longtime ago… If you think it was simply a bad decision then get over it as MMA is full of them. Check out Rampage - Ninja decision (Pride) if you want to see real injustice.

Fernando - Not when Bisping fought him. Now he is old and past it - not then.

Too many Bisping haters become irrational when they talk about him.

People saying Leben would have beaten him when Leben has been dominated by Kalib Starnes. Mental situation. Bisping will beat Day convincingly.

Anyone else besides Epstein? Bisping’s opponents remind me of an old Virginia Tech football joke that I’ll switch to Bisping and MMA. What’s softer than the fur of a fluffy newborn kitten? Michael Bisping’s MMA opponents.

i agree there but hes still a good mma fighter hes good all round and it is realy anoying to hear people say hes rubbish as a fighter he wants to fight the best. hes just fighting people the ufc give to him. and now hes dropped down hes going to be a real force i dont know how people can say he isnt

Im a Bisping fan but you have to be realistic. He would struggle against Henderson or Franklin and would be completely out of his depth against A Silva or W Silva if he drops to 185lbs. He will be a good middleweight but wont win the belt.
