But Machida trains constantly, has extreme technique when fighting and is a respectful guy. Samurai’s were about honor my friend, what do you think the UFC is? ESPN reports Kimbo vs. 38 year old Sean Gannon in the works and will take place in EliteXC by the end of the year…Another Great opponent for Kimbo…lol:
Kimbo Slice had over 20 “internet street brawls” in his street fighting career. Only one ended in a loss.
In 2004 Kimbo faced off against a 33-year old Boston Police officer and former Golden Gloves champion named Sean Gannon. During the fight, the MMA trained Gannon, grappled and kicked Slice; which Kimbo’s camp thought was against the rules that were laid out before hand. There was some controversy but eventually the fight went on and Kimbo was eventually knocked down for a thirty count.
The fight is a sore spot for Kimbo who wants nothing more to avenge his only loss.

The fight would be a huge draw and will likely make for a hefty payday for Gannon, but he’ll have to weigh out the possibility of possibly losing his job on the Boston Police Department if he participates, as the Boston PD has been less than agreeable to allowing Gannon to fight in MMA matches.
ESPN is reporting, however, that a fight agreement between EliteXC and Gannon is in the works and is likely to be signed by years end.

Have you ever seen that fight. Gannon had him standing guillotined like three times and it kept getting broken up. I would have to pick gannon by guillotine in the first round.

I am not upset with the Kimbo vs Sean Gannon matchup, actually, I LIKE IT. As everyone knows, Gannon is the only person to defeat Kimbo in his “we make the rules up as we go along” backyard fight. If that fight was truely no holds barred, then Gannon would have won a lot sooner. As far as we are concerned, Gannon is the only person to ever beat up Kimbo Slice. Why not let Kimbo try and get his revenge now that he has been training MMA? And as for Gannon and the Boston PD, just go fight. Gary Shaw will take care of just as good as your pension plan!
Lil Nog vs Vernon White? The Tiger is still fighting??? Vernon has lost 5 of his last 6 fights. If Lil Nog can’t get this win, then I don’t know who he can fight next. Not a matchup that has me excited.

Interesting move by Shaw with the Kimbo fight. He’s too scared to put him against any real competition cuz he’s put the whole company on Kimbo’s shoulders. However, what if Gannon put a whoopin’ on him again? You would then have your #1 star losing to a non-professional fighter. That would be absolutely crippling to EliteXC.

And the problem with Affliction putting on more stacked cards is that they already have all of their fighters on this card so more than likely the next card from them will be the same fighters but just fighting the other guys who either won/lost. Sort of like a tournament with the same guys over and over. Eventually everyone will get sick of this.

Jacob is a joke, we all know it, he knows it, and his girl probably knows it. IMO, if Jacob wins, it will be a huge upset, almost as big as Serra over GSP. Tito isnt even top 15, Machida is top 5 and weather you find him exciting or not, stylistically he is a nightmare for everyone he faces.
Everyone knows Tito doesnt like to get hit in the face. Machida’s elusive style will really frustrate Tito. He is going to start getting tagged up by Machida’s unique Karate punch n Kick Combo’s, Tito will start shooting from the outside like he always does when he gets Frustrated and the fight will get out of hand.
Machida will win this fight….The only real Question is How?
Don’t be too sure. Tito has got a shot at this, it doesn’t take an MMA genius to work out that if this stays on the feet Tito is doomed…

Have we really seen Machida’s takedown defence? If Tito can put pressure against him, work the clinch against the cage and take him down, he can win this.
Obviously if it does go to the ground machida has got good BJJ but Tito has the experience and strength to avoid subs.
All that being said i still think Machida will win but it is not as cut and dry as everyone thinks.

Machida’s style is similar to Chucks except Chuck will stand and trade if he feels he has hurt you. Machida doesn’t usually trade so I think once he has frustrated Tito enough he will get the take down and finish on the ground.
Although you never know Lyoto may suprise us all and knock him out. How sweet would that be. Tito did said he isn’t worried about his power. WATCH OUT FOR THOSE KNEES TITO!!!
Lyoto is so elusive and right when his opponent thinks he is evading, he uses his pin-point striking. One of the times Tito tries to shoot on him, Machida is going to time the knee perfectly into that gigantic target of a head. That will be the beginning of the end. I got Lyoto TKO (2nd or 3rd).
I’d love to see just one or two youtube videos of Machida saying how bad he’ll beat Tito. Sure, he doesnt have any english, but the guy needs to start hypin himself somehow.

i posted my prediction for this fight twice. both times have benn different lol! i like the way tito fights, but i hate the way lyoto fights. i hate tito as a person, but i like lyoto. i honestly don’t know who will win the fight. i think if it stays standing, then lyoto will win a decision. it tito can get take downs and gnp lyoto’s ass, then tito might get a tko win. but if i had to bet, i would bet on tito and his awesome gnp. but i’m not goin to call a definite prediction. i’ll just watch an awesome fight on saturday night…

I do not like Tito, never really have, but there is no way I can see this being an easy fight for Machida. Tito is extremely strong (he lifted Shamrock across the ring like he was a napkin)with loads of experience and there are not that many fighters that Tito has not been able to take down and inflict damage on. Tito has has fought the toughest guys out there and I think he will make this the toughest fight Machida ever had. This will be a test to see if Tito has still got it and also a test to see if Machida is as great as everybody thinks he is. I am looking forward to this.
The only way Machida will get hurt is if he is involved in some freak accident that happens outside the octagon. Better start praying tito…

Rich wasn’t that inexperienced when he got beat by Lyoto, he was on a 13 fight win streak, and after that didn’t get beat again until he fought Silva. That says a lot for Franklin, but it says even more for Lyoto. Machida has beat a who’s who of talent, I’m not feeling too confident for ol’ Tito. (BTW, if you haven’t watched the Penn-Machida fight, you should check it out, Penn weighed substantially less than Lyoto, but it was still a close fight)

I think Tito is being slightly undervalued, and Lyoto somewhat overvalued. But in order to win Tito has to get ahold of Machida, if he can’t control the clinch and can’t get the timing down in his shots, Machida will stick and move his way to a decision. Tito has a good chin, and good sub defense, he may get caught, but I don’t think Machida finishing him is likely.
whats he gonna hurt, machidas feelings? jacob is a generation past like hughes, shamrock and tanner. he has no stand-up but the turtle defense. he is very 1 deminsional, shoot take a guy down smash him w/ elbows. for a while, just like hughes, that was 1 hell of a demention, but not any more. he has been surpassed and a victim of own success. lyoto machida will show him the differnce between his generation of fighters and jacobs.

In Tito’s fight with Forrest Griffin, he was not able to take Forrest down at will in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Most people think that Forrest won rounds 2 and 3. Machida is much more quick and nimble than Forrest on his feet and has an even better sprawl. Also, Tito starts to get winded as soon as the first round ends. Machida’s style is really going to frustrate Tito Ortiz. By the time the 3rd round comes around, Tito will either be too tired of unsuccessfully chasing Machida around that he’ll just give up OR he’ll get so frustrated that he’ll try something dumb, and get cought making the mistake
