ed herman alan belcher ufc fight night 14

The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 3 middleweight finalist, Ed Herman (14-6), will look win his fourth fight in five attempts when he meets up with Alan Belcher (12-5), at UFC Fight Night 15 on Wednesday, September 17, according to a recent WICombatSports.com message board post from Duke Roufus.

No location or venue was mentioned for the middleweight scrap at this time.

“Short Fuse” was on the receiving end of a Demian Maia choke at UFC 83: “Serra vs. St. Pierre 2″ last month, rendering him unconscious on the Octagon canvas — something he more than likely took a little pride in after tapping out to Jason MacDonald in October 2006. Between the two losses he won three straight fights in impressive fashion.

Belcher has won two of his last three fights, but his last time out at UFC 83 newcomer Jason Day surprised him and those watching with a technical knockout win. He has an average record (3-3) inside the Octagon and will more than likely have to demonstrate that he belongs in the organization with a win over Herman.

This should be a nice battle because bother fighters usually — win or lose — don’t go the distance in their fights.

Stay tuned for more updates and fight announcements regarding UFC Fight Night 15, which will reportedly serve as the lead-in to the season premier of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 8 with coaches Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir.

He is 3-3 including TUF Final. Got destroyed in his last fight, best finish I have seen in ages.

I like this matchup. Both of these fighters were climbing the MW ladder both both suffered devastating defeats in their last fights. The loser of this match will find themselves in a tough situation.

I will have to agree with THE ViolentONE!!! I think this match up wil be great simply for the fact that they have a whole lot to loose which leads me to believe that they are going to fight their little hearts out! lol

I expect Herman to come out PISSED and put a nasty Ground n Pounding on Belcher’s face (whom I happen to be a fan of). I expect another quality UFN event by the UFC. Sometimes the pay per views are questionable, but lately the fight nights have been awesome, and FREE as usual!

You took the words right out of my mouth. Two cocky SOBs. Belcher is more fun to watch, but even more unlikeable. I won’t know who I want to get TKO’d more until it happens. And then when Rogan interviews the winner, I’ll have wished the other guy won.

The competition in the ufc has surpassed both these fighters and both belong on unaired or on smaller orgz.

Man, I remember watching TUF 3, and he was hyped up big time. Nothing has come of it yet. Herman comes to fight though, but I dont know. This is a toss up.

I remember that, the only problem is that Herman was doing a lot of the hyping.

I’m digging the “win or go home” aspect… you know all these guys are gonna leave it all in the Octagon cause if they don’t then theyll be leaving the octagon

Interesting fight. Gotta go with Belcher though. The kid is a scrapper. Short Fuse has really been coming on strong besides his last fight.

Still gotta say Belcher.

I agree with a few of the above posts… This is a loser leaves the UFC fight. Both have failed with multiple chances, this has to be their last chance.

In fact they are wrong, alan belcher (who will win the match with his deadly muay thai) is under a 4 fight deal contract under the UFC, this fight with herman will be his 2 match of the contract.

Alan will belch a sushi oral gas in Ed’s face as they touch gloves. Short Fuse will retaliate with a spinning back fart with a diarrhea stench caused by the Taco Bell he enjoyed after the weigh in. Steve Mazzagatti will flee the octagon and the fight will be ruled a no contest. The rematch will be highly anticipated.

Ed herman will win this fight.

Ed has been working on his standup game, and has a great ground game. He is always interesting to watch since he slips mad odd situations.

Ed will win this.

I don’t know why people say Ed was destroyed in his last fight he did get beat in an imprssive fashion but he was owning Maia in the 2nd round until that choke. As far as this fight. If Belcher dosen’t win by KO or TKO he’s not going to win Ed has better wrestling, clinch&submissions, So Belcher has a punchers chance but that’s about it and Herman has the power in his left hand to KO Belcher.

Ed Herman is one of the most underrated fighters in the UFC. Haven’t seen Belcher fight but if striking is his strong suit than it’s a good match for the Shortfuse.. Herman is a very tough fighter. Skills continue to improve. My money will be on Herman.
Styles match up good for him in this fight. I think round two submission will be the end result after a thorough pounding on the ground in the first round.

Herman wins this fight in similar fashion to his UFC 72 fight with Scott Smith. Belcher won’t stop a single takedown unless herman suffers an injury when he shoots in. And Belcher will spend the whole fight on his back with a better BJJ guy than himself on top. Look out for Ed’s armbars there slick and you might see one here.

Food for thought to ” Herman” Haters…Eds UFC record is 3 wins and 3 losses…1st loss to Kendall Grove…did you watch the fight? He didn’t lose that fight which is obviously debatable as Kendall got the W…I have watched that fight a dozen times and still cant believe they gave it to Grove, who is admittedly a very good fighter when his head is in the game. 2nd loss to Jason Mc Donald whose only two UFC losses had been to top five contenders…Okami and Franklin…Eds aggressive style cost him in this fight and he got caught in a guillotine…Next three fights were wins against Price, Smith, and Doerksen…none went the distance against formidable opponents. Another display of Eds aggressive style. Eds last fight, (loss) was to Damian Maia in the second round while appearing to gain control. People are just now starting to realize the caliber of Maia…world clas mma fighter…So in my opinion, Eds only two non disputable UFC losses were to top five fighters. Ed is a young, talented, exciting fighter who brings game and determination to every fight. I see a very bright future for the “Shortfuse” with continued maturity and dedication. One thing is not debatable…his fights are exciting to watch…and thats why the UFC has him under contract.
