Quoteworthy:

“We want to issue an official statement regarding the seminar that was suppose to take place this weekend with Anderson “Spider” Silva. We received a phone call last night from Anderson’s manager Ed informing us that the seminar was going to be canceled due to a personal family health issues. Obviously we were taken a back and concerned for Anderson and his family. We were also very disappointed for all of our students and fans who had planned to attend our seminar this weekend. It was brought to our attention this morning that Anderson and Nogueria are both having a two day seminar at their grand opening event in Miami. If this is true then we have been completely mislead and as you can imagine we are furious at this. We are doing our due diligence to confirm that this is really happening. If this is true we will take all legal recourse possible. We are extremely sorry for all those who planned on attending this event!”

That’s the official statement from Miletich Fighting Systems (MFS) in Houston, Texas, which had booked UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva to conduct a seminar at its training facility this weekend. Silva backed out of the event at the last minute, indicating (allegedly) that family health issues were the reason behind his inability to attend. However, there’s a belief that MFS was “mislead” because Silva was actually at the grand opening of his own gym in Miami, Fla., this weekend, conducting a two-day seminar with his business partner, friend and UFC Heavyweight Champion, Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira. Someone — Silva or MFS — is clearly not being truthful. Either way it sounds like there a a lot of disappointed fans in Texas right now.

I know, it sounds like a dic move but if your gonna dick anyone out of an appearence, make it the MFS camp, cocky, rude, too cool for any body white trash jocks!!! Go work on your pickup trucks and leave MMA to the guys that are willing to evolve with the sport. Tim, no mas title. Matt, no mas title. Pat, no mas, title. MFS, no mas talent!

Not too much negative news ever comes out about Anderson Silva. Definitly sounds like a d*ck move on his part. If he or actually, his assistant/agent knew that he had a grand opening for his own gym they could have easily cancelled the Texas seminar with plenty of notice. Its too bad MFS don’t have any good MW fighters that they could try and have taunt Anderson Silva with. Lawler is officially HIT Squad now, right?

If his commitment was to the MFS show in houston first, he should have done that. I know it was confirmed that he and nog held their seminar in miami, so that’s messed up that he just backed out like that. At least give them some notice. Even if you don’t like MFS, it’s the fans and people who signed up that really got screwed. I thought silva had more class than that…

its too bad he was blinded by greed and missed that he double booked himself then used his sick mother as a scapegoat. which in turn turned out to just be a phone call meeting, sherdoggers posted the number up and when angered people called in, the gym didn’t even have their story straight. sounds like a real dick move considering just about everyone who was attending the seminar was planning an entire weekend around it. hopefully mama silva can think of something her boy can tell these pissed off americans to confuse them enough so they forget this all happened heh, gl AS(s)

that sucks. those militech guys could have used some new techniques other than “go out there and punch. If he takes you down then let him submit you. no fancy kicks just punch and then lose.” Thats all i can imagine pat militech telling his fighters when hes in their corner.

as much as everyone hates MFS or the guys that come out of there (me included)… you gotta give a camp their due respect… he’s produced some great fighters and at one time had 3 champs (if you count rich via affiliation) from 4 weight classes in the UFC… it may not be the case anymore… but he was doing something right…

You can not like MFS, but telling that only proves your ignorance of this sport. Get some old UFCs and take a look at how they made MMA history.

Ok lets look at the facts.

MFS had him booked for a seminar/clinic.
He had time to denounce affiliation with them.
He was at his own opening.
He screwed over the fans.

Now for a while I didnt like him, then I liked him. Now I dont like him.

As a fighter he is super, I also think he is not as invincible as everyone thinks. I actually cant wait for him to again, but not to cheer for him. I am waiting for the $hit to hit the fan and someone puts an end to his streak. I cant see it being anyone in WW moving up or MW. Its gonna be rampage, watch him lose to Forrest. I cant see it happen but he will. And when that happens he will bump down to put on a show. This is all wishful thinking but you never know. Heck even if Rampage wins he may get a title shot… just to make it that more interesting. Why wouldnt A.Silva wanna move up??? Really though, make history and secure a spot in the Hall of Fame. I grant you had Dan Henderson beat Rampage, Rampage would have moved down just for kicks.

Maybe even W. Silva would do it up.

Why do you all hate MFS? So far the only reason I can see is that they only have all white fighters? So you’re implying this isn’t a coincidence?

I’m curious. I never thought about it. The only reason for me to think otherwise is that they let Tim Sylvia constantly enter with the same lame entry music over and over again.

Isn’t the original MFS in Ohio? That may have more to do with the color of their fighter’s skin.

Yeah, either way, I didn’t think it was an issue.

None of their fighters are my favorites anyway, but I’ve always respected Hughes. Makes no difference to me if he’s no longer under the MFS team.

I prefer Casa Preta and Couture’s team.

The whole camp is borrowed talent.

80% of the people there cant stand “the team”. Really bullies in the school to others.

All the smart ones leave, with their SH!TTY attitude and the rest of the team still has a bad attitude and stay. They must be mad about somthing……..

Fcuk MFS

Now MFS looks like a bunch of dicks because Anderson’s aunt, who raised him, passed away. He couldn’t get an immediate flight down to Brazil, and had to wait around his camp in FL until he could get his plane tickets…..

A lot of you surprise me. The original MFS is in Bettendorf, Iowa. I trained there for a month and it was pretty good. They are not all white fighters either, so that’s not correct to assume that. They are kind of…dicks though. The only person that was really cool and helpful was Jens Pulver. Their head bjj coach is really good too. Everyone else seems like they’re rushing you through your training, and not really trying to help you learn. Although I did learn a lot in my time there, I never had the feeling that I was being welcomed into a learning environment.
