Cant wait for this event, want an early finish in one of the televised bouts (Penn via Sub will do nicely) so I can see either Clementi or Sokoudjou.
I want an early finish too but it’s not possible, look at Muscle roid sharks record..only 2 losses. The 2 losses were by pure beatdown(full 5 or 3 rounds). Its gonna be extremely hard to submit that hard neck of his, so i say 5 complete rounds Sherk.
Its all on Wanderlei to KO the Dean of Mean then!!
dont count out jardine! he is a beast and a very wild striker! look at the odds that were against him with chuck ! and he handled chuck! he is no slouch! wanderlei is a great fighter with alot of experience, however look at him everytime he has been inside the octogon he is 1 and 3 in the ufc(including his fights in the past). granted i do not put a KO win past him i just dont want anyone to think that jardine is a push over win!
dont count out jardine! look what happned when the odds were against him with chuck!
It just sucks that Wanderlei lost to Chuck, who’s he gonna fight next??
Actually I’m betting the house on Jardine, If he can take Chuck and Forrest, he can take Wanderli ……
He couldn’t take Houston Alexander. Wanderlei has a chance to win this fight Vera-Liddell-GSP-Edgar. The chuck that fought Jardine wasn’t the same Chuck that fought Wanderlei. Chuck was much more focused against Wandy and I think Chuck would win 4 out of 5 with Jardine.
From the beat down he received from Houston Alexander via clinch and dirty boxing, there’s absolutely no possible way I’m betting the house against Wandi!!! We just need Wanderlei to break out of the slump and put all the hater’s to bed. Losing three in a row’s not all that bad when the guys your facing are Mirko, Hendo, and Chuck arguably all top 10 fighter’s when they faced Silva.
This is for all the “newer” fans who keep writing “why is BJ so good, he beat an old pulver and Joe Stevenson.” BJ beat Caol Uno in 11 seconds. BJ was put in that fight to lose. Uno was on track to LW title. He submitted Matt Hughes in the 1st round when Matt Hughes was in his prime. He then walked away from the exclusivity of the UFC contracts because he wanted to fight in K1. So Randy wasn’t the first guy to do this! He beat Gomi, when Gomi was the anderson silva of the LW’s. He went the distance with Machida, who is undefeated (until next week) at 205!!! Contoversial loss to GSP, and was picking Hughes apart in the second fight until he broke a rib, and he never gave up. He is The only fighter who potentially could hold 3-4 belts at one time.

who’s bj penn? lol GO TITO!!
He walked away from the Welter weight title for one main reason and it has nothing to do with K-1 . . . BJ walked because the night that he beat Huges someone else won their welterweight bout and earned #1 contender status in the division by doing so. That guy was Charutto Verissimo, BJ Penns best friend and BJJ sensei, UFC treid to make them fight and BJ left. He left the belt up for grabs for his friend to get by beating Matt Hughes himself but Charruto didnt do this, he lost to matt and then left the ufc as well. Thats why there was such a big deal about a possible Penn/Lauzon fight because BJ was now in the same position as he was the last time he had a belt, would he fight a friend . . . So for all you guys that say BJ’s attitude is what makes him a punk maybe you should get educated on BJ Penn instead of thinking you know about him from one “Sean Sherk Ya Dead!” He’s calling him dead for YOU, the fans that this chump disrespected by bringing roids nto a sport he holds dearly to his heart as the purest thing in his world, thats the kind of guy BJ Penn is, thats why he’s the greatest fighter in the world and in history, whatever he would do for a belt and for this sport he’d do twice as much for a friend. So when he’s choking Sherk’s massive neck to a purple state, just remember, he’s doing for you, the fans, his friends . . . BJ BJ BJ!!!
well put Adam, I really can’t stand these guys who have zero clue! Sherk has no chance. Bj beats hughes 8/10 times, and GSP is shaking at the thought of facing BJ again. The point I forgot to make was BJ gassing. Look aat the decisions …he gasses, yet goes the distance 7 times (once at 205)
Good post Adam, couldn’t have put it better myself.
Yeah, but I can… BJ Penn is blah blah blah
JUST KIDDING! Great Post Adam!
LoL!

Just to add to all the Penn haters reference Penn’s lack of cardio.
1. Penn has had 18 professional fights.
2. 13 of them were wins, only 5 of the wins were in the first round.
3. His last 2 fights were won at the end or near the end of the second round.
4. Penn took GSP to a 3 round split decision.
5. Penn has a fight average of 2.5 rounds per fight.
Can’t wait until my man Penn chokes out the muscle sherk and keeps choking like he did with Pulver.

I hope he uses his monkey legs to invent some sort of simultaneous choke/arm bar. He choke Sherk unconscious, then wake him up with the sound of his arm snapping.

Yep, Penn went 3 rounds with GSP (a strong wrestler like Sherk)and he was GASSED and would’ve been finished in the 4th. Title fights are FIVE rounds. BJ has 2 rounds to finish Sherk or he’ll be finished. This fight isn’t going to a decision.

I disagree, he was tired but wasn’t gassed and that was against GSP who arguably has the best cardio out of anyone.
Does Forrest Griffin have bad cardio???? He was gassed against Bonner 1 after 3 rounds. The answer is no, he has great cardio!! So how does Penn have bad cardio Gord??
Penn can go 5 rounds but won’t need to against Sherk
JUST THOUGHT I WOULD ADD THIS IN FROM A PREVIOUS THREAD. I HATE IT TOO WHEN PEOPLE HATE ON PENN WITHOUT KNOWING ANY FACTS ABOUT HIM AND ALSO AS WE ARE BUMMING PENN UP ON THIS POST
I know it was from a previous thread, but the simultaneous choke armlock thing was done by gsp against hughes, right? Wasn’t he working a triangle choke and kimura at the same time before transitioning to the armbar that finished hughes?
***ATTENTION all Japanese mma fans*** DREAM is letting the fans vote for the match ups that they want to see for the 2nd round of the middleweight grand prix… Please everyone go vote for Mayhem vs. Jacre and Sakuraba vs. Moussasi…
Head over to dreamfighters.com and place your votes. I am not too internet savy and I dont know how to switch the fighters name from Japanese to English….can some internet savvy bloggers head over to the site and figure out how to switch the fighter names to English…PLEASE…and get back to me!!!
Wish I could help out, but I’m surely no Japanese translator….But on another note I switched over to DirecTV just so I could purchase HDnet to watch Dream and boy am I pleased, great fights and fans all around. Anyone with any bit of liking for Japanese MMA should obviously invest, it’s well worth it.
Hey John when you click on the tab and select a fighter by Japanese symbol’s then there face will pop up in the box next to it.
BJ and Sherk will be an intense staredown as will Jardine and Wanderlei. The Axemurderer is one intense dude when it comes to fight time.
If anybody still thinks Sherk didn’t do steriods, take a good look at that picture above!
did you see this guys everyday workout though!!!! most people cant do some of the stuff he did! i am not saying that he did not do steroids because i think he just might have however you have to look at his training and his workouts!!!!! he is a monster!
He did those workouts on steriods, that’s the reason most people can’t do it. You think “he just might have” done steriods, he tested poitive, that means HE DID do steriods and that is why he is a “monster”
Sorry man still don’t think he did steriods.
Yeah, and Bary Bonds is also clean as a whistle.
yeah, he admitted using roids as clean as a whistle.
Yeah, he looks like the Incredible Hulk from the 80’s tv show, minus the green paint of course.
Just because someone is more built than the average guy, doesn’t mean they had to do steroids. It just means they had to work longer and harder. I know some guys who came out of prison after 5 years or so and they are huge. Not from doing steroids, but from working out consistently for five years straight. If you look at how Sherk trains and eats, it is not unreasonable for him to be his size, especially if he’s got good genes.
Look at the picture is right. It is a pose from after a weigh-in (when guys sweat off almost every bit of water weight they can before jumping on the scale. That will be when they look they most ripped. Not an indication of ‘roids. But those that wanna speculate on steroid use will not let anything change their assumptions anyway.
Totally agree PJJ
Smokes :
If Sherk does not use roids then what was he found guilty of?
Fighters don’t serve suspensions and get their belt stripped based on a whim.
Its cool to be a Sherk fan but come on…
“After Sean received the letter from the UFC, he immediately went to a doctor and had his blood checked. Result…zero traces of nandralone.
As for the CA commission, they had a bunch of screw ups. First, they lost Sean’s blood. Second, they did not water test their testing machine between fighters’ pee tests, and two other fighters tested positive before Sean was tested on the same machine.
There were many discrepancies and the commission delayed the hearing after getting this info and then made their decision without allowing any of the other evidence or Sean to state his case.”
Sherk has good ethics for training, and the roids will only mess a fighter of his caliber up. I don’t think the commission did a very good job and I do blame them for this mistake. They had a delayed response on their decision because they said they did not have enough time to read Sherks report. Sorry man but I believe Sherk.
Its all good man, I don’t hate Sherk. I just don’t see how a commission singles out a man for no reason. You have your opinion and are entitled to it.
It is not speculation. It is a fact and was proven in a court of law. Stop trying to defend a cheater! I can’t wait till BJ squeezes his neck so hard one of those steriod veins pops. What will be the excuse then, he wasn’t on the roids and that’s why he lost.
But those that wanna speculate on steroid use will not let anything change their assumptions anyway.
Did you really just say that? Sherk tested positive and his appeal was denied. Your the one who won’t change your assumption no matter what happens. He tested positive thats how you catch a steriod user. What does it take to change your assusmption? cuz if this doesn’t than obviously nothing will and your just taking a completely narrow minded approach due to your bias because your a sherk fan
If you did not drink and a crappy officer gave you a breathalizer that you failed would you cave to him? You probably would knowing that if the test says it then it must be true. Well the California commission is not noted for being thorough and right, they make alot of mistakes. Sorry but some guy screaming he failed he failed, I’ll let the weigh ins show me the difference and I’ll let Shawn do the talking in his fight. And even if he did fail he has never been a slouch and now he has proven himself clean so I would penalize him for the past regardless.
Where are these mistakes, this non thoroughness, cause Sean Sherk says there are, and where is this lie detector test all you Sherkheads bank on, cause Sean Sherk says he took one. Show me a website that states Sherk took a lie detector test and passed it and it ant be Sherk saying it or being quoted as saying it. Show me his lawyer saying it, the UFC saying it, the CSAC saying it. Your entire arguement is based on what Sherk is saying its not like some governing body is acknowledging he passed a lie detector test, no one does but him! And hes the only person saying the CSAC made mistakes, they probably are in disbelief that Dana let this guy stay in the UFC when hes just an excuse maker and not a man. A man owns up to his mistakes, he doesnt make excuses for them. Period. But you let me know where i can find out about these mistakes and that lie detector test he took, just one resource that isnt Sean Sherk, ’til then, please stop living in your bias denial and come back to reality!!! BJ breaks a rib, he posts the xrays and docotrs reports ASAP, show me proof like that from someone other than Sherk cause his word means nothing to me as i view him as a cheater. Period. Why aint Hermes making these same accusations about the CSAC . . . Cause hes a man.
Never said I wasn’t biased. Its reported that 15% of over the counter suppliments are contaminated (either purposefully or accidently) and will test positive for steroids. Now I don’t care about a lie detector test because even though its said they are 80% correct some studies show that statistic to be about 56% instead of 80. What I do care about is that he took a blood test as well right after the urine test showed his failure. I’m going to look for any documented proof of this and I’ll post it for you when I can find any. CSAC doesn’t have a good system for getting things done and at times looks to be less than professional. My last reason for believing Sherk is why did he get his sentence reduced if he pulled up zero proof of his innocence? Well it could be that the CSAC is just weak and not very good at following their own rules, but I would chalk that up to the case of CSAC being a terrible company that makes mistakes. The other reason is maybe it is possible that there is reason to believe Sherk did not take roids ie. the 2 positive test that were taken before him. This is not something Sherk can just say and get away with, the CSAC has the information here and could have called him out on it if he was wrong. I know the case against Sherk may seem pretty overwhelming but I’ll pick him over the CSAC and also I’ll be looking for him to shut up his critics with his fight.
His sentenced was not reduced, they just counted the entire appeals process as part of his year long sentence so when the appeals process was over there was 6 months left on his sentence and that is when they said it started, like it was just a 6 month sentence but it was not, his sentence was being carried out throughout the appeals process. NOTHING WAS REDUCED!
http://thesamblog.wordpress.com/2007/12/05/csac-reduces-sherks-sentence/
From what I know Sherk and Franca had the same sentence. From all the articles I can find Sherks sentence was reduced to 6 months. His appeals process went to his sentence there is no question there but his sentence was reduced. This is why he will be fighting soon and Franca still will not be for some time.
I think franca has already faught or is aranged to fight, he no longer fights in the ufc.
And it says right there “reduced WITH time served” that means they arent making his year start right after his failed appeals process they are starting back when the crime occured. I wish they didnt use the word reduce cause it makes you think its something its not, its reduced with the time he served, he was suspended for a year botom line right.
http://mmamania.com/2008/02/25/ufc-grants-hermes-franca-release-from-contract/
This is a link to Franca’s details. It states he wanted to fight over seas but found he couldn’t because he would no longer be able to fight in the US. I think similar to Vitor but not 100% sure. Anyway it also states the year sentence and how Sherk did get his reduced. Again I said that I agreed that they counted his time during appeals toward his sentence which is no problem because the entire time he wasn’t fighting so he wasn’t breaking the sentence. Anyway man no big deal but I hope the link clears things up.
ok, so then with the time he served and the 6 months how much time is that . . . 1 Year?????
and what about all the tests . . . Urine, lie detector, anything . . . And anyone saying that the CSAC doesnt do things properly besides Sherk??
Ill give you this smokedog, at least you dont come in here like these other guys do, make an uneducated claim and then just bounce. Your TRYING to prove your arguement and thats all i like in here is good quality arguments and i dont bash sherk, i just like to clear up untruths for the sake of the opposition (YOU) so youll see that Sherk isnt what you think he is and that just cause it on TV doesnt make it real right. Fact is is that Sherk puts all this info out there, no one else is there to back him up with anything or any proof. If the guy said he was Moses reencarnated would you beleive him without him proving it. He says a test, whatever test, so post the test or a phone number of the place you took it, or their website, anything to back up what you say. Of course he aint gonna say he took a lie detector test and failed it LoL, but if hes not slandering anyone he can say anything he wants without proving it (freedom of speech) and hes good at it!! I hope maybe ive helped ya see that he had no evidence, just him saying he had evidence, no sustance to his claims caue i wanted to beleive him to, but i found nothing in the realm of proof when i looked and it saddened me cause this sport became another tainted by god damn steroids!! And by a champion . . . .
Franco admitted to the steroids, thats why his sentance was reduced, Sherk didn’t.
Sorry dude you don’t get a reduced sentence for admitting taking them. This isn’t like going to jail. And I take your points Adam and I’ll be working on them. I didn’t come talking shit to you for no reason. You’ve been on the top of taking all the Sherk claims down and many of the better bloggers on here are congratulating you on your knowledge on the subject. Well if I want to give Sherk more backing in his claims I gotta take out the dude choping my pillar down. That’d be you, you got me with the cans and after looking up Nanodrolen I realized there is only one way Sherk could not have taken steriods. That would be the claim that there were two people tested before Sherk and both their test came back positive. One was for nanodrolen and it was also Sherks claim that they did not properly clean out the machine leaving it with the ability to throw a positive when he did not test. I’ll be looking for evidence that this was submitted to the CSAC and I’ll also be looking for proof that he took a blood test after failing the piss test. This is the only way to disprove his test because it is literally impossible to have that much in your system. Anyway I’ll be posting the websites back on here, looking forward to finding proof. Oh and screw the lie detector test honestly its stupid that he even took one, no court would ever accept one I don’t know why CSAC would.
I may have to change my statement to I don’t believe Sherk willing took steroids. After searching around I haven’t been able to find any solid proof to disclaim the test. Although it would be easier if CSAC would just make public Sherks proof that he did not take them, I honestly however do not think he took the roids on purpose. Here is the link that has most of the information on Sherks case.
http://www.mma-analyst.com/post/Sean-Sherk-My-take-in-response-to-Jared-Barnes.aspx
-There are a couple related pages at the bottom that show more on the case
roid face errgghh!! look at me errgghh!
if b.j. can submit hughes, he can sub sherk. sherk is just a little lighter, a little weaker version of hughes. so unless b.j. pulls a rib again(doubtful) i see this as being an esy fight for him. hughes was an easy fight for him the 1rst time and an easy one for 2 rnds rhe 2nd time until the injury.
can’t wait until thiago silva odds come out. the opponents of the guy he’s fighting (antonio mendes) doesn’t even have pictures up at sherdog. LOL! mendes won a decision to a guy that lost 4 in a row. bank on silva, this guy is the future.
Sokoudjou seem like a good bet too even though I’m not a fan of his. If he can beat bjj Ricardo Arona, little Nakamura should be no problem. He’s no Machida.
ortiz, jardine overs are also on my radar for small wager, risky high payout bets. 1 of these guys will come through. if these 2 lose, i’d expect to still come up from my sure bets: silva, sokoudjou, penn. HOPEFULLY!
mania: you’re messing with my head by putting crazy shredded sherk picture next to skinny happy bj picture!!
I didn’t know Thiago was fighting, that guy is a beast!
I’m dumb, sorry I didn’t see the fight card posted…only looked at the steroid sherk pic
seriously, thiago silva’s going to be the next chuck liddel. American Top Factory, 12-0, FINISHED 8 of that 12 in the first LOL, seen the 3rd round once, TKOd houA & jIrvin. The guy he’s fighting is a striker, taylor made into silvas strengths. the best time to bet on these guys are when they’re on the way up, fighting scrubs before they reach top 5. once they become top 5 contender, it becomes risky IMO. guarentee $ if there is such a thing - even if the odds are minus infinity-million! LOL
I’d take Mendez at plus 1000.
I don’t think you have to be a Fight Club member to go to the autograph sessions. It’s just for the Q&A session.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=EventDetail.home&eid=480
If AA was signed we wouldn’t have the stupid Mir vs Nog crap, because AA would be getting a title shot.
10 DAYS AND COUNTING BABY!!!! BJ BJ BJ!!!
You’re damn right!!! BJ’s going to handle his business.
Sean Sherks juicing ass is about to feel the wrath of The Prodigy! Damn I can’t wait. I’m sorry, this is better than the Affliction card coming up. Wandy, BJ, and Machida all on the same pay per view, are you serious? The only thing that sucks is that we might not get to see how Sokoudjou does but other than that this is a bad ass card.
Lets just hope we get some of that under action. Soko, maybe a little warmachine, anything would be nice, but if not, the death of sherk will be enough for me!
I’m curious as to how much you’re going to drink when BJ wins. lol
So when he’s choking Sherk’s massive neck to a purple state, just remember, he’s doing for you, the fans, his friends . . . BJ BJ BJ!!!!
And the Oscar for “Best Post on MMA Mania” goes to….(drum roll)……. ((Adam G))!!!!!!
Hollywood baby!!!!!!!!!!!!
good info adam g! and then b.j. came back with a vengance. randy should have along sitdown w/b.j. imo.
LoL, id like to thank all the poster’s out there, opposing or agreeing for giving something to argue about. Id like to thank dad for buying me my first Penn DVD (Rumble on the Rock #4)way back in the day! Who else who else . . . And last but not least, id like to thank Mr Miagi for giving the sentamental touch that i put into that post. THANK YOU ALL YOU”RE GREAT!! HAHAHA! BJ BJ BJ!!!
And remember . . . Look eye! Always look eye!
Adam G think about this, Liddell and Ortiz were friends too and they gave us two of the best fights ever. All this stuff about friends not fighting each other is dum, its the way they eat and make a living. What would you say if Anderson Silva and Wanderlei Silva had a chance to fight for the MW title and they didnt want to because they are friends? Would you be ok with never seeing this fight? Or should they think that its a fight fans want to see?
They werent real friends, look at them now. There is no comparison to the friends that they were and the best friendship and beliefs that BJ/Charruto share. Get out of here man. And if Penn had faught Charruto he would have helped him up off the mat and carried him back to the dressing room after with apologies. You value what you value and me and BJ will value what we value. Money does strange things to people and there is just as good a fight available somewhere else without fighting your friend so fuck what some people you dont even know want to see if it means hitting your best friend, especialy for an org that only cared about money and the biggest payday available like the UFC use to (still kind of does), i mean they would rather give the guy that just beat Hughes an altumatum of fight your firend or we dont have much use for you, dick move IMO. BUT now BJ would fight anyone, hes done some growing and doesnt have to worry about ever fighting Charutto again. Now its about being the best of all time and for forever, Bruce Lee status!
Props for the insane BJ knowledge…
I got it all day . . . OR since the opposition cant argue properly they say im a hugger and attack me, whatever for them cause the hugger comments just mean my job has been done and that they dont have anything left to say about BJ.
Then you can call me a fellow nut hugger cuz I think BJ is the shizznitt, too.
BTW - where can I catch/buy BJ’s fights outside the UFC? Any DVDS?
The website i got all mine at is called bushidovideo.com and fightsforsale.com but bushidovideo.com is now a rental place or somecrap i think and fightforsale took forever to send me my order and it was not official DVD’s, some dubbed crap, like a copy. I got my Runble on the Rock’s with Penn/Gom and Penn Rodrigo Gracie at Tower Records. Tower also carries Romanex with Penn/Ludwig and the Grand Prix 2000 with Penn/Machida. The early UFC’s are the hard ones and can be found on EBAY because they arent made on DVD in the USA, just VHS, like Penn/Pulver1 and Penn/Serra etc. Ill look around online right quick and see if this other site i use to use is still up, but Tower Records Online and Bushidovideo.com were the sources that made my collection.
The Hawaii Grand Prix was with Penn/Renzo Gacie i mean, not Penn/Machida. Penn/Machida is K-1 Hero’s.
Thanks.
There are also one out there like “On The Mat” with some Penn BJJ matches. And Grappelers Quest with some Penn BJJ. And try BJPENN.COM
Its Bushidodvd.com, but its rental and it sucks now.
IM going to be there, got my $250 seats, and will be arriving at Vegas around noon!
Damn AdamG, I don’t even wanna post things up anymore because you post everything that I want to or have to say. Good point about the UFC 46 info. After Penn won the fight, he watched the Charuto vs Newton fight. He sounded like an excited little kid cheering Charuto on. For anyone that wants to see this, buy the UFC 46 DVD.
Ill lay off soon, take a day or two myself LoL, you can take this over, there doesnt seem to be much said by the opposition anymore. Once we stop talking cardio and start talking all the other issues surrounding Sean Sherk, BJ Penn and this upcoming fight, they dont have much to say.
Sean Sherk:
Fights CAN’S and his record should be 5-2.
Has no proof of anything he claims(lie detector/CSAC)
Was found GUILTY by a compitent governing body.
Rudely cut off Joe Stevensons post-fight interview.
Screamed “oweeeeE!” at the elbows of GSP.
Is a liar and a proven cheat.
Is a tool. Period.
BJ always sounds like a little kid when he talks, I love it, its the funniest thing.
Word to that, how can such a bad ass dude sound like a chipmunk HaHa! I love ‘em as all of you know but hey, who can argue with this . . . HA!
BJ will finish Sherk like he did to Joe Stevenson.
Lol why do people always talk about how BJ could hold 2-3 belts at a time when he hasn’t even proven yet that he can hold 1 belt for very long? This guy is so overrated, and calling me a newb fan for saying that is being ignorant. Anyone who isn’t a newb fan would know how much of a beast Sherk is, and he more than likely was not juicing, which he will prove on the 24th when he shows up just as strong, and conditioned as ever. BJ this, BJ that…he is good, but lets stop hyping him up to be a God just because he beat Caol Uno in 11 seconds, and has had a few decent fights, with even more bad showings lately under his belt. There is absolutely no reason to think that Sherk is going to be submitted, or knocked out cold (yes I understand he has been TKO’d by GSP once in 35 fights). He has a granite chin, and has never been submitted while fighting the best of the best. BJ on the other hand has proven that he has weaknesses. It will be a good fight that could go either way, but on paper this absolutely has to look like Sherk will win, BUT I know paper doesn’t matter in this sport because anything can happen. I’d still put my money on Sherk based on all of the facts without
