“I want to prove to everybody what I’m all about. I’ve had a couple of fights and people have questioned how good I am…. Now I want to make my place in MMA history by beating not one but two of the icons of the sport. I’m expecting to fight ‘The Axe Murderer.’ The guy we haven’t seen in a while. The aggressive one who fights across the ring throwing his haymakers…. What I can’t wait for is being in the middle of the second or third round, being sweaty, bloody, tired, just me and him –- seeing who the bigger man is on the day.”
“The Dean of Mean” talks about his upcoming clash with Wanderlei Silva at UFC 84: “Ill Will” at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 24. With a win Jardine can topple two of the sport’s most feared and respected 205-pound fighters in the past few years in back-to-back appearances — he already outpointed Chuck Liddell at UFC 76: “Knockout” his last time out back in September 2007.

Jardine ALL the way, I’m putting big money on it. AND I will be in vegas that weekend woohoo
I got to go with Wandi by brutal TKO. I will be at the fight too, can’t wait. See you there bitches!!!
Attention all Japanese mma fans. DREAM is giving the fans a chance to vote for what match ups we want to see in the 2nd round of the middleweight tournament. I cant tell anyone what matches to vote on, but by now I think most of you should know that I know a thing or 2 about Japanese mma. Please vote for: Jacre vs. Mayhem and Sakuraba vs. Moussasi
To Vote for what fights u want to see, click on this link: http://www.dreamofficial.com/special/vote/middle.html
That link will take you to the webpage…The problem is that all the fighters names are witten in Japanese. Once u r on the voting page, scroll down the screen and u will see a blank space vs. another blank space, and then four more rows just like it.
When u get to the 1st row, click on the thing next to the 1st open space, you will then have a list of japanease names to choose from. Moussasi is the the 3rd japanese name down from the top….Then go to the other side of the vs. and click the thing next to the back space and Sakuraba is the 4th fighter down from the top.
From there scroll down to the next blank space vs. Blank space. Click on the tab next to the 1st blank space and choose the name 5 down from the top and that will be Mayhem miller. now go over to the other side of the vs. and click the tap: scroll down and Jacre is the name thats the 2nd up from the bottom.
After that fill the rest of the match ups with the names that werent used above and when you are all finished just click the big green tab at the bottom.
Please VOTE!!! I would rather vote for this then the president of the USA. lol
right on. good job john.
thanks
Its going to be a battle. I’m taking the Axe Murderer in the 2nd rd TKO
amazing!!!!
Jardine by TKO 2nd round..
damn! cant wait for this one. go wandi!
I want Wandi to win this one but since the pounding he took from Houston Alexander i don’t think he takes anyone lightly anymore. Still though i want Wandi to kill everyone in that division.
man i’m still wondering about jardine. i still have to believe chuck beats that guy 9 out of 10 times. wandi hasn’t looked too good lately, but fighters go through slumps. one of 2 things happens: 1. jardine squeaks out a decision ala the chuck fight 2. wandi of old shows up and walks through jardine like a hot knife through butter.
i like jardine, but im hoping for an axe murder.
Well said! This fight could go either way but I’m hoping to see Jardine eating Wanderlei’s knees from the clinch.
I think you will see wandi go back to the clinch like he used to he beat up rampage bad twice that way. i wanted him to do that with chuck but it never happened. and jardine is like serra 9 out of 10 times he would lose to chuck
says who you or statistics, because in my eyes Chuck could not handle him at all that night, he stood there took Chucks best shots and beat him, what we think doesn’t matter it’s what actually happens that matters.
i think we are all in agreement then. jardine did best chuck that night, but chuck didn’t look himself IMO.
Chuck is a hard guy to clinch with…Just ask Randy, who’s a Greco-Roman wrestler. I don’t think Wand was going to bother with the clinch against chuck, unless he rocked hiom from the outside first. Chuck is too elusive, and too good a counterpuncher, constantly catching guys on the way in. I know nothing about Jardines clinch work, but I’d like to see what his face looks like if Wandy can land a few in there. I’m routing for Wandy, although I cant make any predictions. Cant wait for it though!! 84 is gonna be the best card yet!
I feel exactly the same as you. Saves me from typing it out. haha
jardine is growing on me, but i want silva to win
Good interview, I still think Jardine takes the decision, although I hope Silva wins
If the Wandi of old shows up, Jardine won’t get out of the first round…. He better think twice on what he’s wishing for!!! Please come in guns a blazing, thai clinch working, with knee’s being unleashed from hell we really need to get another taste of the Wandi of old.
I’m actually more interested in this fight than the Penn/Sherk bout. I think both fighters want to prove something and think there’s about a 50 percent chance of one of these guys going to the emergency room.
I think theres a 50 % chance that I might die of excitement, getting to watch this fight, BJ/Sherk, AND Tito/Machida!! The 24th cant come fast enough!
I like Silva in this one, but he is a mw in the UFC. He is considerably smaller now (not making accusations just stating fact) and think he should drop down. I’m still picking him to beat Jardine
I agree with you on his size but I think part of the problem with Wand moving down, is that Anderson is the champ. Theyre old training partners, and probably wouldnt fight eachother, similar to the way Shogun never had a title shot against Wand back in Pride, because they were good friends that trained together. This is just speculation on my part, but it seems valid to me. I would LOVE to see Wandy tear up the MW division though!
Thats were u r wrong…I think wandy and anderson had a falling out…I actually think they dont even like each other anymore…Anytime I have ever heard someone ask Anderson a questin about wanderlei his translator says no comment!
Kevin: I know wandy is really a middleweight but wandy has fought heavyweight before so I doubt 10 pound weight disadvantage will change anything………I really feel that Wanderlei will win this fight!
Jardine better hope “the ax murderer” doesn’t show up or he’s big big trouble. Chuck had an off night in my opinion and really who else has he beat? Forrest? I think Forrest is a sub-par fighter himself. Wandi rnd 2 KO
You know it’s o.k. to be a fan of someone, but Chuck got beat all over the octagon in every aspect. This was not a flash knock out but Chuck just got beat, give the guy the respect he deserves.
I never said it was a flash KO, I just think Chuck looked off. He was not as aggressive as he usually is. I think if they fight 2 more times Chuck wins both of them.
Chuck is a counter aggressive fighter, not the aggressor…he sits back and waits for people to try and bumrush him and delivers the KO…Jardine didnt really rush Chuck..he played the calculated game of timing kicks and hooks good enough to beat Chuck who hasnt had to prepare his striking against another striker like Jardine. He was used to fighting wrestlers who dont know how to strike so yes, Chuck was OFF. Props to Jardine though. I think he is a tough SOB, he just got KO’d by Houston which is the only majore thing to discredit him for….I want Wanderlei to win, but his days might be over, we will see!
I think Chuck learned a lesson from the Jardine fight, because he actually stalked Wandy in their fight, as well as using a lot more weapons.
sounds to me as though everyone will be saying if Jardine wins that the Wandi of old would have killed him. All we can say for a fact is who ever wins then is the winner.
i predict silva murder by nees
since his last couple losses and even going back to when he was robbed by judges in the hunt fight, it seems like Wand’s confidence has been going down each time and forgot how to get crazy or something. guarentee there’s some self-doubt in his mind from getting beat up a couple times in a row. I like Jardine staying outside the pocket working leg kicks like the chuck fight. But the thing is, he’s kind of hunchback and his head is in front his body thus giving up some reach. lol. I’d be worried about his head movement standup wise cuz chuck smashed his face a couple times. To me, this is kind of a toss up, but my money’s on Jardine decision/overs because his sole purpose is to win the fight & climb ranks while Dana indicates that losing is acceptable to Wand and he wants to be fan favorite. really looking forward to this 1! its going to be a slugfest!
this is the match i am most looking forward to and very possibly will be fight of the night. i hope they both stand and jardine gets the win and then his title shot
I somehow feel that this one is ending very quickly….this is a fight I honestly think will end within the first round whoever wins it and I havent felt that way about a fight in a long time.
I felt the same way before Chuck and Wandy. Didn’t turn out that way. Who knows?
i’ll not give you a credit jardine if you win via desicion against silva unles you knock him out or submit him.
I think Jardine will get “axe murdered”
Jardine will not be taking Silva lightly but I think Silva will take Jardine lightly. I backed Jardine against Chuck because of there fighting styles and I would say 9 times out of 10 Jardine would beat Chuck. Silva for me has one of the worst styles for Jardine because he is so reckless and careless and agressive, which would make it a lot harder for Jardine to set up and time his major strengths which are his kicks. Jardine does poses knockout power though which people tend to forget and he also put on an amazing technical display against Bonner in a fight he definately won. I think he should have been fightingt Machida and Silva could of had re match with Tito, but I believe that the UFC put this fight together because they also think Silva’s fighting style will stop Jardines chances of getting a title shot. I am going to back Jardine again to win this even though I think Silva does have the worst fighting style for him, because I think Jardine is going to be the smarter fighter and that Silva will underestimate Jardines striking. Look what happened to Forrest. The UFC and Dana will probably try and put him against Houston again if he wins or maybe they might get rid of him for wearing an unsanctioned t-shirt like Lindland. Should be a good fight.
I bet you back Serra vs. GSP in their first fight, too.
Sorry but I call BS on this one.
Nobody expected Chuck to lose to Jardine…Nobody…
Of cousre I did not back Serra against GSP, but I always thought he had haevy hands, I just thought that Jardine would and had the capabilities to beat Chuck. Bullshit you say…

I think this should be a really good fight and I’m looking forward to it. I do not think this is going to be an easy one for Chuck at all. I am going for the upset.
Jardine made a mistake and took Houston lightly and he paid for it. It seems like people are judging Jardine on this fight alone I think that is a mistake. Jardine is a very tough fighter who has knockout power, excellent leg kicks and a solid chin. Most fighters would probably have not have got up from one of those power shots Houston threw, how many did Jardine eat before he went down. Rampage only through the one bomb at Chuck and he was on the canvas. I still think Chuck is one the deadliest strikers in the division, but I think having not fought any solid strikers in a while in is going to work against him. Most of the people he has fought recently were without doubt some of the best, but I do not think they were genuine strikers like Jardine. Chuck will have the reach advantage but I do not think his experience will come into it when it comes down to slugging it out toe to, which it probably will, and this is where I think that Jardine will come out on top, as I believe Jardine will be able to take more of a beating then Chuck (no disrespect to any sensitive readers out there). I am still Chuck fan, but just as I did with the Rampage fight I think this is another bad matchup for him. Either was I think this will be a good one.

I agree that Jardine has a fighting style that can beat Chuck and I wouldn’t be suprised if he pulls off an upset. There maybe others that deserve the opportunity more than Jardine, but I think he will definately put up a good fight Chuck has beaten a hell of a lot of top guys without a doubt, but he has beaten most of all of those guys without really getting hit. When he does get hit by a pretty decent puncher, you’ve seen what can happen. It only took one punch from Rampage to put Chuck down, Jardine took quite a few heavy shots off Houston Alexander before he went down. Look at the two fights again. Jardine is a tough fighter, who can punch and probably take a better punch than Chuck can. He destroyed Forrest in the first round which is pretty good going considering how tough and how much punshment Forrest can take. Chuck better stay away from Jardines heavy hands otherwise he is going to be in trouble. For me this is a pretty even fight, but again if Jardine takes it wouldn’t surprise me. Chuck is one of my favourite fighters, but I don’t have a problem with saying when I think one of my favourites has a chance of getting beaten. Jardine is definately the sort of opponent that I think can cause Chuck problems.
I couldn’t be bothered to find anymore comments I made on that fight, but I did make a few more. Anyway OJR, if you do see this, you can kiss my @ss.
Of cousre I did not back GSP against Serra but I always knew he had heavy hands. Serra was lucky to win that fight, but I would not have called a lucky punch. I always thought that Jardine had the capabilities and would beat Chuck in their matchup.
Bullshit you say….

I couldn’t be bothered to find the other comments I made on this fight, but when you’ve finished reading these OJR, you can kiss my @ss.
I actually did not think that first response was allowed to go through, but I think you get the point OJR.
yea.. it’ll be hard for Jardine to keep his distance against aggressive “old Wand”.
you guy’s better get the world’s best detectives on this case cause The Axe muderer is going to kill again!!!! wanderlie by kimora (ha ha) just kidding by knockout 7 seconds into round 1 beating the u.f.c’s fastest k.o. by a second:)
i would like to say wandi will win, but jardine will come into this fight with a 15 pound weight advantage. that cant be good for wandi
I dont see why Jardine would have the weight advantage.
When Wandy fought Crocop the last time he was actually over 230lbs!
Although he does look quicker and sharper when he is lighter anyway…
I like Jardine but I just wanna see the old Wandy come out on a mission that night to K.O him violently!
Most. Awkward. Style. Ever.
