BJ is looking awesome..day after day, has he really improved his cardio?
I mean it’s still gonna go 5 full rounds but he might actually come out on top.
I don’t even need any extra hype for this fight. BJ is going to destroy Sherk in the 1st. BJ/under is a lock!!!!!
not because he’s one of my favorites, because he is just that dominant…watch out GSP!!
It’s too bad we’ll have to wait a year and a half at least for BJ vs GSP II
But - a part of me doesnt want them to fight ;P Just to own everyone else like some kind of superteam of destruction
me too. they are my 2 favorite fighters and i dont know who i will root for when they fight. probably neither, i will just let the glory of this fight unfold. no disrespect to fitch or sherk fans, i know they cant be overlooked, but b.j. and gsp will be the last 2 standing. i wouldnt mind seeing either against a. silva as well.
Word to that, its going to be epic, no one will be destroyed, it will be a war to the end, it will probably go the distance unless a mistake is made, most likely for a belt at 170 so 5 rounds it will go, the record will be set strait for one or the other and one thing is for sure . . . THERE WILL BE BLOOD! Is there any fight that you would rather see, honestly, i just cant wait and its that simple. (1-2 years-ish) (UFC-100″There Will Be Blood”)(GSPENNII-For the title of “Best Fighter In MMA History!”) AND where do i stand . . . BJ BJ BJ!!!
WOW adam, that is a great title. copy right that before the UFC uses it!!
I’m being serious too!!
LoL, maybe i should, but that movie probably owns its copies etc . . . Thats where i got it from. But it should be used for this fight for sure!
That movie was AWFUL. I wish I knew more about it before renting it… WIth that title, you’d expect a violent move. But was it? Nope. It was a snoozer about an oil tycoon. There was one bloody scene, over two hours into the movie. He beats this retard down with a bowling pin, and the movie ends.
DO not waste time on this movie!!!!!
Yea i havent seen it, now i wont LoL, the title would describe IGSPENNI pretty well though huh, damn im good!
After GSP shuts up Fitch, he should fight Penn or Silva at the end of the year. SUPERFIGHT to end 08! either would make a great fight, but I think BJ would probably be a closer fight(I love GSP and all, but … its Silva).
Who do you guys think Silva’s next opponent should be after Okami? A rematch with Marquardt? Henderson? I think rampage(assuming he wins) or gsp, but Henderson IS 0-2 in the UFC. Not saying he’s a bad fighter losing to Rampage and Anderson, but he needs a couple wins inside the octagon to get another shot IMHO.
Silva said he would rather move up in wieght rather than down, so I’m guessing he would jump to 205. I would love to see him knock off Liddell’s head.
If he jumped up we could have a card with GSP VS BJ II, and Silva Vs Rampage. It’s most likley wishfull thinking and will never happen, but that would be the best card of all time!
UFC 100: Jumping (weight classes) Silva vs. Jackson & Penn vs. St. Pierre
no one at mw (except hendo) will give him a fight. He’ll destroy GSP. sorry all you GSP nuthuggers, it’s a fact. He’s bigger, stronger, crisper on his feet, better BJJ. I’ll give the wrestling edge to GSP, but he won’t be able to do much on the ground against silva!!
not exactly a fan of the term nuthuggers, but it is used often here, just surprised to hear one of the most frequent posters using it. and if you did read my comment, i did say that i thought penn would be a better match up, because i think it would take a bigger guy to beat anderson, like rampage.
I agree. The only way Silva will lose at this point in his career is if he makes a mistake (i.e. throwing a flying knee like he did against Lutter), or if he gets “caught” with a strike, which is unlikely but we’ve seen the best strikers (Chuck, Cro Cop) get caught before. But I think Anderson is harder to hit, the guy’s just so slick. I don’t think he’ll get subbed in his prime either.
kevin bashin’ GSP again. He’s so biased against GSP it isn’t even funny. Fails to see things from a real perspective because of his hatred towards GSP. Get real…
one of my posts didn’t get put up cory, I admitted GSP is p4p top 5. And I didn’t bash, the only advantage GSPhas over silva is wrestling, which would be nullified by silvas strength as well as bjj. You’re a nuthugger of mine, the only time you post is to bash me! Stop hating buddy!
Do you just hate GSP cuz he’s Canadian or what??
why do you need a reason?? isn’t there a fighter out there you just don’t like??
I dont think Cory can read . . . KEVIN NEVER SAID HE HATES GSP, HE SAID THE OPPOSITE! END OF CONVO!
LOL, no shit HUH, I don’t really like GSP, but I do realize he’s the best WW right now (until BJ bulks up). Fitch will be finished sooner than Serra was, and GSP would be owned by Silva
I think Cory can read very, very well. kevin, its cool that you hate GSP. People hate Kobe Bryant, people hate the Patriots, people hated the Yankees when they were unbeatable. Shakespeare said it best: “In time we hate that which we often fear.”
Adam, where you been, Kevin said it PLENTY, that he hates GSP. Go read some of his Serra posts. That’s his right to hate him, but he still said it and he sure as hell NEVER said the opposite.
This will be a very dominant performance by BJ Penn.
Kevin: I ABSOLUTELY Love Penn/Unders…beause that fight wont make it to a 3rd round…I am positive about that!
When BJ is on top of his game, he dominates opponents and right now BJ is on top of his game. This will not be a close fight and Sherk will never have BJ in trouble. What will happen to sherk after he gets dominated by Penn?
I am a big fan of both GSP and BJ Penn, they are both 2 of my top 5 fighters but if Penn comes into that fight in top condition, I suspect that his skills may be a little too much for GSP!
I have learned that Affliction’s fights will take place in a ring instead of a cage, which is great because Tim Sylvia wont be able to dry hump anyone up against the fence.
I am so happy that this event will happen, where aree all the nut-huggers that actually believed the Bogus reports that Fedor and his camp did not want to fight Sylvia?
Sylvia is going to get busted up really bade before getting his arm torn off!
sorry john, there are no tim sylvia “nuthuggers”. unfortunately just a few of his turkey hunting buddies will show up for the free seats.
I’m in the minority that thinks Timmy can win this fight if he can keep it standing. The ring is an advantage to Fedor no doubt. I also think if they put this on PPV (for us comcast people who don’t get hdnet) it could make some money. They won’t be able to put on as many events (with the amount they are paying out), but 4 “super cards” could leave us salivating so much for more, that they break ppv records
Kevin: I believe it has been announced that this event will be on pay per view! The contract between Affliction and HDNet fell through, probably because affliction wanted to make some pay per view revenue!
Please dont waste your money on Tim Sylvia….he is going to get MAULED for sure!
John: Will this event make money? Or will it lose money?
I can’t see it making money, which leads me to think it will unfortunately be a one-off event?
Do you have any info/thoughts?
Even if it is a one-off I can’t wait!
If it actually makes a profit, is a big concern for sure…However, most mma organizations, have lost money in the early stages, so hopefully Affliction is anticipating a ($$) loss in its inagural event. Not m any organizations make a lot of $ in their 1st event, so hopefully Afflictions expectations arent too high…
If I were them, regardless of the star studded card, I would anticipate a loss for the 1st event, if they go into this with HUGE expectations, then they will FAIL!!
I for 1 am hoping that they succedd, even if they can only put out 4 events per year, any company with the vision of putting together a card like this….Is doing something right..
For 1 they will have delivered a DREAM bout that Dana Could not deliver…Fedor vs. Sylvia, so far they are headed in the right direction, I cant comment on the probability opf it being a success, because I have no idea what its executives expectations are…. If they hope to make a huge profit in their 1st show, they maybe sadly dissapointed…. We will see, I am hoping for the best!
I will be ordering this event on pay per view for sure!
We’ve heard rumours that Fedro will earn 1mill and Tim 0.8 mill + bonus.
What do you think any of the other fighters are earning?
surely some of the other top guys on the bill will be wanting similar to Tim?
I will have to catch the fight on the internet as I can’t see it being available PPV in the UK.
I’m not sure I class any Tim Sylvia bout as a dream, but he will be a good yardstick to see where Fedor is at having had 2 years off fighting anyone of note.
I think this card looks especially great because it features a load of HW fighters - contrast this with the weakest division in the UFC and it definitely gains extra points. Fans have been starved of a good HW division for ages and this caters to the void. It would have been much more difficult to stack a card with this level of non UFC talent at another weight.

Slow down there Bostonmmajunkie….,u have been watching a little too much of Chonan vs. Sylva!
That was a helluva fight though!
BJ is looking as dangerous as he ever has…except for maybe his breakout fights
I can’t wait for this fight! BJ is looking like he’s in great shape and it’s just going to get better in the last couple weeks.
he’s going to show the world that he’s on a whole different level than sherk
BJ is gonna kill The Roid Shark.
2nd round rear naked choke by BJ…which he’s gonna squeeze a litle tighter after Sherk taps hehe
sherk is a decent fighter
bit dull but tough for anyone to beat at 155 except BJ
BJ will destroy him
BJ totally owned matt hughes who is a more talented version of sherk who weighs 10-15 lbs more
BJ is also the only guy who i can see posing a threat to GSP
after that i hope he takes on silva as he could be the biggest threat to him to sub 205 where a war against a guy with heavy hands and a great chin would be interesting
someone like wanderlei or rampage
I wanna see pics of a shrunken sherk!!! Ive heard some things about what he looks like now and i wanna see some proof, probably not true though but who knows . . .
The BJ Penn raley with Stephen Marley on th 23rd looks chill, and all those pics are awesome, #52 is SICK!!!
AND you finally get to see BJ’s lady, FUCK Mandy Moore!!! That Hawaiian godess puts her scrony ass to shame!!!
Offtopic: But anyone remember that long sleeve sweater that BJ Penn wore when he came back to the UFC vs GSP?
It said “THE CHAMP IS BACK” - where can i buy this
hahah
Also - anyone know where you can find the RCVA fight shorts he wears (with the belt belt drawn in) that says “BJ Penn” on the side?
I gotta get those shorts for the beach season haha
The RCVA fight shorts you mentioned is badass but I wouldn’t wear them unless I’m a real blackbelt.
EXACTLY! They are nice for support, but they signify many things about BJ such as the things i listed in my below post:
You gotta make that shirt like he did and it said “The Champ Is Here” A la M.Ali . . . The shorts are a hot topic and id like ‘em as well, maybe at RVCA.com or searching the web. I read somewhere that they ARE going to come out with them but i havent seen ‘em yet. I bet they will be missing something though, either the “redbelt” portion which signifies “master BJJ practitioner or 10th degree therefor a solid colored block and not notches/stripes” or the “BJPENN” on the belt, or something, if you can get identical replicas feel lucky and expect to pay 60-80 bucks for ‘em, i would.
I think BJ should wear a shirt that says “Steroid Free” on the back of it to the ring.
Heshould wear an old school “DARE” T-Shirt into the ring, like DARE to keep kids of drugs that is supported by police officers. That would be funny and BADASS! LOLLL!
Sean Sherk is dead
I’m going to dub Sherk “The Prodigy Killer” once he finishes Penn off. Laugh about that
Thats original . . . Did you get that from watching Renzo Vs Penn towards the end of the fight when it was apparent BJ was going to win and they dubbed him “The Gracie Killer” . . .Looks like the Penn hater like to watch BJ fights! Its ok, come over to the BJ Penn world man, we welcome you, we dont deny you. ENTER!
And how do you think Sherk will finish off Penn? Most of you Steriod Shark lovers say Sherk will win a decision, but aparently you think he can finish BJ (Somthing he couldn’t do against Florian or Franca).
First off I’m no Penn hater. The dude has mad props and can literally beat anyone on any given day. Unlike Fedor however he doesn’t beat everyone everyday. It doesn’t make me a nut hugger or a hater because I’m rooting for the other guy to win. I don’t talk shit about Penn and I don’t even think his cardio is bad, it just isn’t enough for the amount of energy he uses. I am also not unrealistic about how this fight is going to go either. I don’t think this is going to decision, it isn’t even possible. For people to call this as going to decision is weak and shows that they don’t know much about either fighters history. If Penn is able to make it to the decision he probably will win the fight, because he probably took the first three rounds. Anyway if Penn gases he’ll get finished no doubt about it. In this fight niether guy is going to stop for a second meaning that if one gases the other one is going to capatilize. The only possible submission I can see that Sherk could get on Penn is a RnC but I don’t see that happening. I see a GnP victory in the fourth round to be honest. It’ll be a great fight but if Sherk is to win it is by Gnp in the fourth. Also not many people have finished those guys either so that theory doesn’t really mean much to me. Even if it goes to decision I don’t know why anyone would be complaining, you just got 5 rounds of BJ and Sherk fighting like maniacs. Niether of these guys are slouches and I could only hope for a 5 round fight to the death.
BJ looks like he’s got a sokodjou wig on haha
LoL, i looked up at it and just noticed that, hella funny!!!!!!!!!!
This is going to be one of the best UFC events of the year. Keep em rollin
BJ WINS 2 FIGHTS IN A ROW AGAINST OVER THE HILL PULVER (WHO BEAT HIM IN HIS PRIME ) AND JOE DADDY AND YOU GUYS MAKE HIM OUT TO BE THE BEST EVER, SHERK WILL OUTWORK HIM TO A DECSION VICTORY! SHERKS GOT GOOD BOXING GREAT CARDIO AND GREAT WRESTLING AND A HEAD OF STONE
WHY DOES EVERY1 BUM BJ PENN, HES WON 2 IN A ROW BIG DEAL AGAINST OVERHILL PULVER WHO GOT BEAT QUICKER BY LAUZON ( AND BEAT BJ IN HIS PRIME 2) AND JOE DADDY, SHERK WILL OUTWORK HIM TO A DECSION VICTORY, HES GOT GOOD BOXING SKILLS, GREAT CARDIO AND WRESTLING AND HAS A HEAD OF STONE! TITOS THE MAN HES GONNA MAKE MACHIDA LOOK LIKE KENNY SHAMROCK
LoL, you should do standup, stanup comedy that is. Sher fights CAN’S! His record would be 5-2 if you remove the 20 or so CAN’S he’s faught, Sean is down here_____ and BJ is up here—— HA! You like that sh*t huh!
BJ is the man but don’t overlook Sherk……can’t wait for this one!
BJ over Sherk then BJ to face GSP for welterweight belt. I’d like to see a grandprix in the UFC and see the ultimate best overall…Penn vs GSP vs A. Silva vs Rampage vs Big Nog vs Couture vs Fedor.
Sherk fights CAN’S!!!!!!!!!!!! OVERRATED!!! His record should read 5-2!! But when you pad your record with junk fights you get a 30 and something record. You would be a fool to think Sherk can win this fight, even Sherk has to regret never fighting consitant good fighters now that he has to face the best.
Yup
hell yup!
I don’t care what anyone says…BJ is the best p4p fighter out there. Once Anderson and GSP hold two belts at two different weight classes then will talk.
Ya right, BJ doesn’t even have one legit belt. He couldn’t win a belt at LW, so he jumped up (WITHOUT fighting ANY top WW contenders first)and got a FREEBE title shot. He LOST his next 2 WW bouts. Then he jumps back down and gets another FREEBE title shot after ONLY beating a washed up Pulver (who lost his previous fight in a matter of seconds).BJ has 2 bogus belts and if he took the true championship route that GSP or Hughes took he would have zero belts. You got it backwards, when BJ can avenge all his losses (in dominant fashion)like GSP HAS, then we’ll talk about BJ being the best P4P fighter. Right now GSP is the most dominant fighter, yes even more than Silva. Silva has been winning all his fights lately, but he doesn’t dominate from bell to bell. In fact he was losing most of his fights until the very end, he still has unavenged losses and the MW division is nowhere near as tough competition as the WW div. When it comes to P4P best, one could argue Anderson is better than GSP, but BJ, NO WAY. He hasn’t proven it,at least not yet.
sean sherk wins by brutal roid rage
If the Affliction fight is going to be in a ring… there goes any small chance Big Timmy had unless he sneaks in his hunting rifle into the ring. Also, Rothwell’s chances against AA just jumped up significantly. Fedor, Barnett and Rothwell would be my predictions if it happens.
