Love him or hate him, Tito has certainly been a huge money-maker for the promotion over the last 11 years. I, personally, can't take much of his rhetoric without starting to feel the gag reflex in the back of my throat. There is very little argument against Tito's prior successes in the promotion, especially in their early years, but any claims that he is in any way the same fighter today as he was then seem to be coming solely from long-time Tito fans that are having a hard time letting the "Bad Boy" go.

Reality check: Machida is technically impressive, much more so than Tito is or has ever been. His footwork, hand speed, and cardio are also noticeably faster than TODAY's Tito Ortiz. Does that mean he'll dominate him at 84? Not at all, it means he SHOULD. I enjoy watching all of this high-schoolers vehemently tout their fighter as the sure bet, knowing half of you will be strangely silent come the 25th.

I think the bottom line, is that Tito has higher aspirations than most fighters, fostering an ego that is largely undeserved today. The pretentious third-person references, the repeated claims to being a "smart businessman", the preoccupation with being the ONLY fighter known for "breaking the mold", his not-so-subtle obsession with PR friendly buzz words such as "family", "fans", "charity", "kids", etc.: all of these things scream of a man who is terrified of not being noticed, recognized, stroked, paid ridiculously; the list goes on. He strikes me as someone who constantly needs to be told how important he is. It's all pretty damn sad.

I certainly don't hate the man, hell I don't even know him. I won't be like everyone else on the site who, somehow, know beyond a shadow of a doubt who'll win on the 24th. I will say that given my knowledge of the sport (judging by some previous posts, this is where I should sputter on about how long I've watched MMA, or throw in the name Jacob to illustrate that I'm in the "know" and know what Tito's name is - that'll convince people that I'm MMA-smart....ecch...) I would certainly bet against the Vegas line and take Ortiz on the upset, 'cause let's face it: they do happen.

On the other hand, it will be nice to see the crowd boo like mad at the end of a 15-minute snooze fest, and then cheer like banshees when Machida's hand gets raised after a unanimous decision. Just the way I see it happening.

And guys, aren't you just dying to hear the "fans" reaction after another disappointing Tito Ortiz gives his farewell speech (assuming Dana allows it), especially if he starts bashing the organization? I for one can't wait.

I think Tito's a good guy at heart.

He's just crabby some times because Jenna gave him, well, crabs lol. A touch of herpes too I'm guessing. I jest, i jest. She's totally respectable now that she's out of porn.

And to assosiate himself as the leader and Randy as his follower. Its funny but even if Randy was following suit, he's only been pissing hardcore fans off with it. Tito comes highly over rated and I feel the same falls on Sylvia and Randy. Sylvia is a big guy PERIOD. Its hard for most fighters to take a guy that size on with his reach. Randy beat Sylvia who I have believed to become lazy in his last few fights, then goes on to beat an over rated Gonzaga only to try and claim is dominance as number one fighter around. Sorry but Randy was fighting at HW cause he could take on the LHW champ. Then he doesn't even get the high level title defense he should have. Randy against Arlovski would get embarrassed as well as Tito will be embarrassed when it comes to Machida.

This was a very good interview. You got both sides of Tito in this one. He showed his ever present promotional side and actually a more personal side. I liked the part about his time on celebrity apprentice. He really cares about his reputation as a businessman and about helping kids less fortunate. I am glad that we got to see that side of Tito because that is not something you see from him very often.

I don't really know what to think of Tito anymore. I agree with John when he says that Tito is a shadow of his former self. Tito in the past was a great fighter and fun to watch but now I am just not sure where his priorities lie. I also have to agree with John when he said that it will be a good thing when Tito's name does not appear on a UFC fight card anymore.

I have to take Machida in this fight. His style is a lot like Liddell's but Machida moves away much better than Liddell and Tito couldn't take him down. Obviously Liddell has heavier punches. Machida is like Anderson Silva, he has very accurate punches. Tito is in for a long night.

No one has every read anything about GSP talking bad about the company. That doesn't mean that he hasn't complained to other fighters about the UFC. I don't think that GSP feels the way Tito does but it doesn't mean that he hasn't complained before. You can't tell me that you haven't complained about the company you work for. Everyone does it. I do think it was shitty for Tito to say something like that in an interview. Especially if GSP told him that in a personal conversation.

As for the Hummer I can understand what Tito is talking about with paying taxes. If it were me I would tell them to just give me the money because I don't want the vehicle. I think GSP can buy his own car.

i really like the business side of tito, after reading
this, i have more respect for the guys. i used to just
think he was some ignorant punk, always so cocky. but he would be a pretty cool dude to meet. but i still have mixed feelings about his upcoming fight

Tito is correct when he says that Dana White has no respect for most fighters. As matter of fact, due to Dana, the best MMA fighter in the world - Fedor Emelianenko
- is still NOT in the UFC. They do not PAY! EliteXC, being one of the newest, smallest and weakest competitors to the UFC can pay just just as much as the UFC, you gotta KNOW that you are being robbed! Both: Fighters and Fans - UFC without Tito - man that is like the NBA without Shaq! LOL
