wec ticketsWith a sell out crowd of 8,000 fans expected to fill up the lower bowl of the Arco Arena, the WEC recently announced that it will release more tickets for WEC 34: “Faber vs Pulver” on June 1.

In fact, according to the press release, the Zuffa-owned promotion will sell tickets for the upper sections of the arena for only $35! (Excluding taxes and additional services, of course.)

Vice President of Production for the WEC, Peter Dropick, had this to say:

“WEC fans bought all of the tickets so fast that we decided to open up more seats upstairs. We originally planned to sell seats only in the lower sections for this event, but it’s going to be such an exciting night of fights that we want to accommodate as many fans as possible to see the live action.”

How can you argue with that?

WEC 34 is easily the most stacked card in the promotion’s history with two title fights lined up and two former champions also in action. It’s going to be an historic night on June 1, which we can all witness for free on the Versus channel at 9 p.m. ET.

To purchase WEC 34 tickets head over to Ticketmaster.com or StubHub.com (Note: StubHub often has seats available even if the event or certain section is “sold out.”)

I live in the bay area and have never been to a live event. If I get great seats, is it better than a 50 inch in HD? My whole thing is a bunch of drunk morons who know nothing about mma booing when the fight hits the ground would annoy me. At home I see all the action, don’t have to put up with stupid people and enjoy myself. Not an anti social, but wondering how great a live event is?

Montreal was awesome, pretty loud and there are idiots everywhere you go. The only thing that was kind of annoying is depending on where your seats are you may have a cameraman in your way. I don’t know about this event, but going to the UFC event was an incredible event and something I won’t forget. Montreal was soooo loud, it also depends on the card. Obviously Montreal was loud because it was GSP in Montreal.

You should definitely check out a live event. I’ve been to several and the atmosphere is great.

I always tivo the fights so I watch them again from the couch, but it’s definitely worth checking out a live event….especially if you can get a ticket for $35.

I’ve been to Columbus and Cincinnati in the past 8 months and they were very enjoyable experiences. I sat upper level for Cincy and club level in Columbus. If you have to sit high, you’ll be watching the monitors when it hits the ground. Other than that, its a pretty awesome experience.

Drunk morons will be in the upper deck, I train at Fabers Gym and he as got 500 members who will all be there. James Irvins Gym (400) will all be there as well, Just get your lower level seats and you be fine.

The WEC is different, and I have been to both UFC and WEC events. The WEC has many more hardcore fans, and there are less casual (boo when it hits the ground) fans. The WEC I went to in Vegas was awesome, and it was very intimate. You got to see the fighters up close, and they are accessible for the fans. I highly recommend going to a WEC event. They are actually better and more consistent than the UFC.

Kevin,

My wife’s girlfriend went with her boyfriend to a UFC event last year in Vegas. She loved it. She warned me that all the real tools and posers buy the seats closest to the Octagon. Take that for what its worth.

Ditto. Vegas would be the only venue I would attend for any type of Boxing/MMA live event.

Kevin: I am just like you man…Not anti social, but
I tend to enjoy a small crowd for an mma event. My ideal show is just me, my brother and our girlfriends, with some buds and brew!

I could not be able to deal with all the boooing and drunken idiots. Thats why I would have loved to go to Japan to see one of the old PRIDE events live. Great Atmosphere, like an mma festival, A very respectful crowd (with NO BOOOING) and a hell of a show.

I am from Philly, HOME of the worst fans in the world. I can only imagine what an ignorant crowd would show up to a UFC event held in Philly….I just could not deal with it…. Best bet would be to get a punch of people together and rent a luxary Box… that way you are somewhat iscolated from the ignorant baffoons!

I’m 10 minutes from san jose, and have heard that. I’ve been here 2 years, but once again if I’m going to end up watching the big screens at the venue, I might as well watch the big screen at home!

Hey john, thats what I do for football games. The pats are coming to Cali 3 times this year and it will be expensive. I’m flying my grandmother in for the san fran game, I live 20 miutes from oakland and will probably fly down for the chargers game. I will end up dropping over 1000 a game just for tickets alone, but good seats are worth it, and for some reason you can see football games a lot better than indoor darkened events. I agree about inviting 2 or 3 people with some mma knowledge (or just aren’t annoying) over for events!

I took my wife to Chuck/Rampage last year and we are going to BJ/Sherk. She is not really a fan, but she loved it. Generally, if you pay $500-$800 bucks for a seat you know something about MMA. From my experience the people around us were very knowledgeable.

hmm cheap seats are tempting. on the other hand, MMA seems be very live event un-friendly. most of the good parts of the contest you wouldn’t be able to even see from beyond the first couple rows.

They have big screens everywhere in most cases. You should definitely check out at least one event. Record the fights and watch them again….I always watch the fights 3 or 4 times anyway.

Quote:
According to Dave Meltzer of Yahoo!, Nogueira and Frank Mir are expected to be the coaches on The Ultimate Fighter season eight, which would keep both out of action quite some time.

Even though we all knew this already, I for one am sick of it. The ww title was held up for a year, lhw, I mean come on. How bout some trainers coach, I’d love to see Greg Jackson and Pat miletich or Bob cook and caesar Gracie. How bout legends like Bas and Royce. It may turn off guys that only know the tuffers, but who cares. Do something for us hardcore fans (besides hold up titles and great fighters). The show is getting weak, and the fighters on the show aren’t the same caliber as years past. I don’y know, try making the die hards happy!!

Its pretty obvious that UFC is on all cylinders as a money making business instead of providing a platform for the best MMA matches available. That sucks, Kevin.
