It's not new, but it works great. The eccentric contractions account for up to 50% muscle growth so if you just let gravity do the work by dropping the weight fast, you are missing out on it's effects. Explosive concentric contractions are great for developing power.

Again, you take the words out of my mouth and save me some typing. GSP always seemed to have the upper hand with his opponents in the grappling, but now he just mauls them. Before GSP went to Chaimberg, he could only do 10 pull ups with his body weight, which isn't very impressive for any athlete. Though reps with the added 100lb dumbbell is very impressive.

I don't think it's as much about muscle production/atrophy/building as it is about creating muscle strength and endurance. The best examples are Olympic lifters. They are very strong (obviously) but are not as muscular as bodybuilders (even clean/natural ones).

He was bunny-hopping the hurdles consecutively (ie two-footed and no running start). I'm sure a lot of track athletes do it regularly, but for an MMA athlete, it's pretty good.

I like how the trainer emphasizes really SLOW movement on the eccentric contractions and explosive contractions on the concentric side - i think this is a kind of a new development in muscle training where slow going down, fast going up results in faster muscle production

Good job GSP and crew!

Who?...hahaha. Just kidding. I hate being at work, I can't watch the video until I get home. What's so impressive about the hurdles? Is he jumping regular hurdles or does he have weights on or something?

I would say it's better than both Sherk and Franklins. More functional.

I had to watch it again to hear him call Kang Denny. Yep, Denny could do with some more actual fight practice.
