my concern for my favorite mma fighter, wanderlei silva, isn't his size. that alone will not be enough for jardine to beat him. my concern is that, for whatever reason, wanderlei will do what he did in his match vs. liddell; that is, fight according to his opponents preferences and strngths. wanderlei's many mma skills, most notably muay thai, were not on display against liddell. it appeared to be all stand-up and primarily with the hands---chuck's strength and preference. i saw no knees, flying or otherwise and very little in the way of takedown attempts. had wanderlei fought his own fight instead of chuck's, i'm certain it would have been liddell appearing to be intimidated instead of the other way around. look for wanderlei, who is humble enough to learn from his mistakes, to serve jardine (a good fighter but very unimpressive vs alexander and fortunate to have gotten a decision vs liddell as the match looked drawish) a huge helping of brazilian whoop-a$$. re penn and sherk: penn is great with jiu-jitsu but underestimation of sherk will prove foolish and dangerous (ala serra - gsp in their 1st match). it's funny to hear commentators give the nod to penn re striking power. from my perspective, sherk appears to hit not just harder but noticeably so. re ortiz-machida: tito is still tough and crazy too but looked somewhat lackadaisical vs. evans whom he should have handled. machida is undefeated, very skilled especially at submissions and though lacking tito's power, is, unlike tito, dead serious. most gave him little chance vs. sokudju and we saw what happened there. i see machida giving tito a big wake-up call assuming machida realizes success in this fight will take him from being a relative unknown despite a great 12-0 record (due to less than exciting fights) to a big name in ufc/mma.

You make a valid argument, but don't forget the brutal KO from Houston Alexander. That lowered his stock some, and he only won one fight since then. Sure he beat chuck, but he didnt KO him. If he can beat Silva, he will earn a title shot, sooner than later if he can KO him.

Thanks for the kudos, but I have a slight disagreement. What you say is a smart fight, was what I called fighting for a decision. I lost alot of respect for chuck when he started taking Wanderlei down. He knew he wouldn't be able to put Wandy away on the ground, but he did it anyway to bide his time instead of going for the KO. I know TD's and ground game are part of the game and all but it was Chuck Liddell for gods sake. It was the first time Id ever seen him initiate a ground attack, if thats what you could call it. Obviously I'm a biased old school pride fan and Wanderlei is like a god to me, but I was very disappointed and a little pissed off when Chuck pulled that crap. Anyway, I hope Wanderlei knees Jardine's head into the 10th row in this fight.

Are you certain that Wandy walks around at 206? If that were the case it seems a drop to 185 would be a no-brainer...205 in the UFC is much bigger than 205 in pride...I think it would be a big benefit for him.

You're thinking of Greg Nelson of Minnesota Martial Arts Academy. Greg Jackson's camp is in New Mexico, with guys like GSP, Jardine, Evans, Marquardt, and formerly Diego Sanchez.

I really wish people would stop making excuses for Chuck, bottom line is he got beat, he could not handle Jardine and lost. Keith also knocked Chuck flat of his back, and Wandi. could not do that. Some people act as though they have no clue, and refuse to give credit where credit is due. Jardine has beat Chuck convincingly yet Chuck's in line for a title shot. I hope Jardine beats him down, so that Dana and you people have to give him the respect he deserves.

Hi, well im mexican and i always write in spanish, i know a little bit of english, but i know that a lot of people love mma fights and they dont know english, so thats why i will write in spanish... so, sorry if u guys dont understand :D !

;D!!

Wandy stands at about 5'10" and walks around at 206 pounds, Houston stands about 6'0" and walks around at 215 to 220. Much bigger than Wandy, but Wandy is definitely more battle tested and once Jardine feels the power of the "Axe Murderer's" punches he'll know he's in for a nasty fight!

I'm going to be rooting for Wandy in this fight. But please, cut out the snorkeling and just focus on the fighting. The style you brought over from Pride and won you so many fights is the reason you are here!
I want to see Wandy come out like the "Axe Murderer" of old and destroy Jardine, I don't think Jardine is on the same level as Wandy and that will be proven at UFC 84!
