ProElite — the parent company of the Elite XC mixed martial arts promotion and several others — has signed a multi year production and distribution deal with Image Entertainment to release DVDs to the public, according to VideoBusiness.com.
The deal will include four annual Elite XC DVDs, as well as eight annual installments within the ShoXC brand.
Here’s a snip from Steven DeMille, Image senior vice president of marketing:
“There is a growing market for high-quality arena-based mixed martial arts content, and ProElite is the premiere source for this type of sports entertainment. We are pleased to add ProElite to our roster of content suppliers as we continue to grow both our distribution channels and scope of programming.”
The first two DVDs entitled “Destiny” and “Renegade” will feature fights that include Frank Shamrock, Renzo Gracie and Kimbo Slice. These are scheduled to hit the shelves as soon as May 13.
A third DVD called “Huntington Beach Badass” will feature Tank Abbott and go on sale July 22.
ProElite Home Entertainment Vice President, Turi Altavilla, added this:
“With MMA going primetime, we are introducing the sport to a whole new audience that will likely drive demand for MMA events on DVD. Watching these DVDs will be like having front row seats at MMA events.”
If nothing else besides pure entertainment, these DVDs will provide viewers — and new fans who come on board with the upcoming network television debut on CBS — the opportunity to catch up on the recent history of their favorite stars as well as build hype for future fights.

Wait a second. Tank Abbott gets his own DVD? Is that a typo? Maybe it just shows him riding around on the short bus, drunk, getting into bar fights. That might be worth something.
exactly what I was thinking!! Hey, shit sells!
Lets be honest, as much as I enjoy some of the EliteXC’s fights, they dont have a solid enough event to date, worthy of going out and purchasing the dvd.
Yesterday, UFC 80 Rapid Fire came out on DVD. Some of the undercards fights were pretty good.
Paul Kelly vs. Paul Taylor was an absolute WAR. I would love to see Paul Kelly vs. Luigi Fioravanti! That would be a great welterweight scrap involving 2 evenly matched bralwers looking to let the leather FLY!
I hope they name the DVD “Barstool Brawler: The Legend of Tank Abbott” and they can have Will Ferrell play Tank Abbott.
It would be better than what will actually be made, I am sure.
Great! a dvd about Tank. When will it end???? I’m sure they’ll start making Kimbo dvds with his street fights next.
On a side note, it was just reported that Kimbo will be on the cover of ESPN the magazine, LOL. this is great. he’s a sideshow act but who cares. he’s bringing attention to someone besides the ufc and dana white and i LOVE IT!!!!
It was reported last week, actually.

lol, my bad
hey mania, you get my email? just curious if thats nrmal or he’s a loser
woo hoo, off topic, but my stock is up 2.80 in 2 days!!!
I can’t wait for the Kimbo vs Cans DVD.
I wonder who wins?
these dvds are going to sell like hot cakes i tell you…
just imagine it
tank abbotts so called training and the couple of fights that they have the distribution rights to… just gloss over his early days in the ufc
same with frank shamrock but at least he trains… clips from his 3 fights that they own…
kimbo will probably be the best seller as long as he agrees to allow them to show his streetfights… otherwise theyll have under 5 minutes of footage
All you heard about first from EliteXC was how Antonio Silva was the next big thing in MMA. Now they forgot about (big foot) and focus all there attention on Kimbo.
hopefully they give UFC some healthy competition.
DIEHARD UFC SUPPORTER, but competition only brings out the best in both companies.
