To be honest im looking forward to seeing Tito back in the octagon, and even although the light heavyweight division is stacked he brings something different! i hope hes gets the win over machida and reinstates himself as a force, however it will be a very tough one for him as machida has some quality skills.
Go on the huntington beach bad boy!!
I feel ya mang.. Tito is a legend.
Ortiz is a guy I like to hate… looking forward to seeing him get his ass whooped by Lyoto for such a dumb comment. Nevertheless I’ll be sorry to see him leave the UFC when his contract is up.
Tito hasnt been a good fighter for years and Machida will destroy him wherever the fight goes
lyoto has much better hands and am expecting tko rnd 1
his hands aren’t that good
While I expect to see Machida get the W, I’d like to see Tito do well. Especially if this is going to be his last fight with the UFC (or ever).
Tito ought to receive his share of the blame for being a d*ck, but somehow, I have a hard time believing that Dana is completely guiltless in all the uglyness that’s going on.
It just has to do with Dana’s scale of low pay for fighters. That’s essentially where Dana is at fault, Dana is a grinder and very loyal and protective of the UFC, Ferttitas, Fans and his $$$$. Last on the list is his fighters.
This Tito is going to lose.
yes im a tito fan but idk i can really see him matching up well with machida…machida is so slick everywhere that its gonna take somebody bigger and stronger than him to push him against the fence, take him down, and hold him there to beat him up…tito can be that guy
i agree! i think tito will take him down and murder him. i’m not expecting a quick fight. i think tito has way better conditioning and that will be a factor. tito wins late in the 3rd round by tko…
Is it me? Or, does Tito always say how more dedicated he is going to be to his training? Even if he trains - will it be enough?
I am looking forward to seeing him fight for Tito does bring excitement to the ring. However, Tito may be in over his head. Machida has a sophistication to his fighting that may expose Tito’s slightly slow reaction time.
I use to love you tito.
Now i just hope you get knocked the F out
lmao, well said
Is this the same idiot who said he was going to put evans in a wheelchair? Machida is giong to knock this clown out
BS I saw tito on celebrity apprentice and he’s not funny at all. I know Rogan does stand up, but i’ve never even heard tito crack a joke… And Lyoto doesn’t even speak english so how can tito even know how good his stand up is…
HAHA.. quality laugh. And i would bet my dead grandmas vagina that Machida wins. I love new guys on here who dont know who machida has faced in the past.
you know who he fought in the past doesn’t matter right?
if he ends up not matching up well against ortiz i don’t think knowing he beat bj penn is gonna help him.
bj penn fought renzo gracie at 290 and won so i dont think u can put bj penn in a specific weight class hes the type of guy who will fight anybody at any weight he would give anybody in the ufc a go if it were like the old days where there were no weight classes
Who has he fought? He went to a decision with Penn who is a 155er thats not impresive to me. Penn would get killed by any top ten LHW. The fight with Franklin was stopped by a cut, oh and Franklin is a 185er. His biggest win is Sokoudjou, but Sokoudjou’s record was only 4-1. Thats not a big step up, he just beat a less experienced guy. If Machida can get past Tito in good fashion then I’ll stop saying he’s overrated.
You dont know shit Manchida has quality skills! Maybe if you would quit looking at the records and look at the fights. Sokoudjou beat arona and Noguiera on Pride and was suppose to be a beast when he was signed in the UFC but Manchida beat him dominantly
JV - Dude, do you just make sh*t up . . . He beat Bonnar with a cut not Franklin, he knocked Rick the f*ck out for his first loss and is the only other guy besides Silva to do so. And Rich is a 205er who moved down after that fight, just cause he fights at 185 doesnt make him a 185er, he cuts weight bro, figure it out. And since penn doesnt care about weight or height beating him is beating him and its impressive to do, especialy at the point in time that he did it (he stopped Penns run from Serra to Uno (draw) to Ludwig to Gomi to Hughes to a loss) And i didnt know that Soko was a bigger win than Tiger White???
Your right it was Bonner. But regardless I don’t get caught up in the hype, SHOW ME. What are you going to think of him if he loses to Tito? Was he overrated?
JV, Machida knocked Franklin out. He beat Bonnar by cut.
Somewhat but i think if he loses to Tito its not cause he lacks but because Tito wants to leave the UFC with his middle finger in the air and thats gonna be hard to do after a loss so he’s gonna bring it one more time, for the last time. If he was to lose to Tito under different circumstances, like just a regular fight with Tito returning regardless and not fighting for respect and the last word between him and Dana then yea i would think Lyoto is crap. If he beats Tito i wont think its anything big for Lyoto, just 13-0 and closer to i title shot. Ill never argue for Lyoto saying “he smashed Tito and he’s awesome because of it” Tito was officialy retarded when he let Dana waste his prime by fighting the same loser for 3 years in a row which proved nothing except Tito can beat Shamy, thats the story of Tito Ortiz, he can beat Ken Shamrock and not Chuck Lidell . . . And his hair is f*cked . . . what else is there? His moto should be “save your *ss, grab a fence” HA!!
Machida is not going to loose to Tito! Lets put that to rest right now. Machida’s footwork and quick striking is going to literally pick Tito Apart. This is the fight were Machida shows to all the UFC-Only fans what an amazing talent he is. The guy is like a Ghost! He is so hard to hit. People talk about the great footwork of Liddell, I believe Machida’s is superior. Also tito wont be able to find a training partner to mimick Machida’s skills. Machida will have no problem finding training partners that fight like Ortiz….Just find any old wrestler who doesnt know how to pass the guard.
This is going to be a bad situation for Tito! I think Machida’s footwork will keep Tito from taking him down, and if Tito does get the takedown, so what? he wont pass guard, and if he thinks he can sit in Machida’s guard and not get submitted he is in for a surprise!
Adam G, I know what your saying about Tito wasting his time fighting Ken 3 times. But from Tito’s point of view it was easy money and unfortunately thats all that Tito and most fighters nowadays care about.
I watched Machida agaist Heath at UFC70 and was really looking forward to seeing him…but was very disapointed with his performance…even though he won.
I think its going to be a close fight. Machida’s a beast and I think because he hasnt fought that much in the UFC, people do not his talent. However, if Tito can get this fight to the ground, he can do some damage (even in Machida’s guard).
And Tito doesn’t even speak French, so how does he know he’s in shape?
I predict Lyoto’s been training his Swahili and will knock Tito out with an adverb!
lmao
kick his ass tito
I’d be more inclined to pick Tito over Machida than I would Griffin, Jardine, Wanderlei or Liddel.
I saw the next video for on the list of Sherk. He says he has never heard of Nandrolone until after he tested positive for it…..LMAO.
Machida by decision….This fight will most likely go the distance….
This fight will go to decision, with a win going to Machida. First off, Tito hasn’t shown the dominant GNP skills he has since beating up Ken Shamrock, and everybody gets to beat up Ken nowadays. He couldn’t hurt Rashad when he had him down, and in all fairness Rashad didn’t have his A game until the last round.
Machida is a monster, Tito taking him down will only have him end up in his guard and doing no damage. Machida has far better standup, better submissions, and much better defense. Hell even Chuck dodged Machida and tito himself didn’t even want the fight to begin with.
Tito can only hope to make a strong impression and hope strikeforce picks him up for a phat contract. he loses this fight and you can expect to see Tito settling for a lot less.
Where are you getting that Chuck is dodging Machida? A monster you say, why? What makes Machida a monster ( 7 decisions ) ( only 2 submissions ) ( 3 Ko’s ) if thats a monster to you then DAM I wonder what that makes Chuck ( 13 Ko’s thats more than Machidas whole record ) ( 1 submission, thats 1 less than Machida ) (7 decisions ) 5 losses but all great fighters will get a loss sooner or later.
You realize that Machida beat the crap out of Franklin Right?…. beat Heath, Bonner, Thierry Sokoudjou who Ko’d Nogueira…
Machida may not win impressively, but he impressively keeps winning.
JV, John Hackleman said he doesn’t want chuck to fight machida because he is too hard to train for (as in they won’t find someone with machida’s style to train with). This was on a youtube video, I don’t know the link but if you take your time you’ll find it.
PS: this was a question that he had to answer, he was specifically asked what fighter does chuck not want to fight right now, and his answer was machida because of the above information. So much for taking any fights huh?
I appreciate the info linx. I think that Chuck fighting Shogun would get him to the title shot quicker, and maybe thats the reason for Chucks camp not wanting to fight Machida. I think Machida is a good fighter but were would you see him in line if he loses to Tito?
If he looses it’s no biggie, he’s still young and can build himself up again. To be 12-1 is not really a bad record. But I really don’t see him loosing and it’s my personal feelings that he should already be in line for a title challenge. I understand he’s not very marketable yet though, so a win over Tito will change that. We’ll see what happens in May, but I’m sure The Dragon will come out victorious. One thing that’s for sure, Tito has much more to lose in this fight than Machida.
Chuck wanted to fight Shogun because he saw that Forrest beat him and he saw how outta shape Shogun was so he figured he would fight him and KO him….thats what I call looking for an easy fight…I heard an interview where Chuck said he didnt think Shogun was such a big deal
dude, read up on your new instead of trashing guys you only read on record sheet. Chuck was offered 2 fight options when Shogun pulled out with his injury, Rashad or Machida, and he picked Rashad. simple fact is that Rashad not only matches up poorly against him but Machida is so elusive. Hell even tito whined about getting Machida, and for good reason.
If you actualy watch the fights and not look up wikipedia for your “knowledge” you will see why Machida’s resume is so respected. Bet your one of those clowns that never even know his name until after ufc 79 when he beat Sokoudjou… Sad
He’s just saying he has better hands so Machida will think Tito won’t try to take him down.
Tito by GNP, round 3 or W by decision.
Ha I have been waiting for this, I love Titos smack talk, Im going for a Tito win and a smiling Tito walking out the octagon with Dana worrying about if he should resign on of the biggest draws the UFC has, because love him or hate him Tito still is.
tito will win this fight.
All I ask is for Tito to come ready to fight with no excuses. I’m sick of “injury talk” after every sub-par performance. Come in healthy, Tito. Give your old fans something to cheer about. You haven’t had a decisive win over someone other than Ken Shamrock since 2001. It’s been awhile.
Prove you still have it against Machida.
Machida wins a Unanimous Decision.
I completely agree. If someone is hurt enough to make excuses if they lose, then they are too hurt to fight
Machida by tko rnd 2, tito will loose his cool during the fight and make a mistake
Better stand-up than Machida. hahaha. That guy is funny!
As Mr Thorazine wrote so nice “Machida may not win impressively, but he impressively keeps winning”.
But he did KO Franklin and choke out The African Assassin though…
My prediction: Machida due to referee stoppage… after Tito busting his crotch open trying to do a head-kick!
When will the “fans” stop making the most boring blanket in mma history such a draw? HIs fights are never exciting and always on the main cards, hence take up precious time we could be watching good fights. I admit he will probably beat Machida, but only if the ref lets them lie there for half a round. HOpefully the fans will boo his boring ass enough that the ref will keep it standing unless he’s doing something significant, and implements it quickly. By the way, I just watched the Joe Rogan “live” stand up disc. If you havent seen it, see it, the funniest comedy routine Ive ever seen. Second place goes to Dave chappelle killing them softly.
javster, you would bet your dead grandmother’s vagina? That’s the funniest shit I’ve ever heard! I don’t have a pick, I could kind of see it either way, depending on which Tito shows up. Don’t be mistaken guys, Machida is the real deal, but Tito once was too. It will be good either way
I kind of want Tito to win but I just don’t see it happening. Machida’s stand up is better and his jiu jitsu. Machida’s footwork may very well be better than Chuck’s right now. Tito is a better wrestler and that is the only plus he has but if he lays on top top of Machida for too long he’ll get submitted.
I am not a fan of Tito’s but I just kind of want him to get the last laugh flipping Dana the bird as he walks out with a win but I just don’t see it happening.
I agree with your comments about Machida’s stand up, JJ and Footwork. However, Tito’s wrestling was not so strong against Randy and Chuck exposed his lack of footwork and inability to GNP at the elite level. Tito’s wrestling looked good agaist Silva, however, his skin had a peculiar puffiness too it - IMHO. Tito is strong but I think his Charisma has gotten him further than his talent. Machida catches Tito coming in for TKO in the 2nd.
TapedUpPair, when you say his wrestling didn’t look so well against Randy and Chuck, you are talking about a Greco Roman Wrestler and the man with the best takedown defense in the business. I am not at all saying that he is an elite wrestler but just saying wrestling might be the only advantage he has in this fight. I do agree with your prediction, this could be ugly!
That is me …i am an old tito fan and i still am a tito fan and when he kicks this bum machidas ass everyone will be like wow tito is back and hes just beat on the top five lightweights in the world. THATS RIGHT!!!!!ALL YOU HATERS BE PREPARED CAUSE THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS IS BACK!
If you dont respect Tito you dont like MMA… At this point he has been figured out and will be a bottom feeder as long as he remains in the UFC.
?
Tito is not a bottom feeder, he is not happy with the way he is being treated, badly in HIS opinion and voicing his concerns.
He will never be top 5 again in the UFC but as long as he keeps hyping fights the way that he can he will still pull in $$$ for UFC.
Is that you Tito?
Old Tito = np
New Tito = We just dont know! do we?
So lets see where this ends up. As much as i would love to see the Bad boy back the way he was back in the days i dont think he would be the same. Strength is still his style so he should be able to beat him there. anywhere else, i just dont know.
Tito’s gonna come out and try to end it with GnP in the 1st 50 seconds (like the showman he is). He’ll try it a couple more times and tire out - Machida will do the lay-and-pray avoiding any damage while looking to submit. Once on their feet again, Machida will take the fight to him scoring points and winning the rounds. Will most likely be a boring fight while Tito tries to avoid any damage or a submission. Machida by decision.
DJ
That’s exactly how I predict the fight turning out, too.
This is a Bad Matchup for Tito. So far I haven’t seen anybody hurt Machida in the UFC. He has to be by far the most defensive pretty boy on the roster. Dana found the perfect guy to send Tito packing with a black eye, and a bruised ego. So say goodbye to the Bad Boy.
To all of you saying “who has Machida fought,” just remember this: he fights Anderson Silva every day!
Excellent point. Forgot about that.
No, he doesn’t. Black House, which is in Curitiba, is literally 1,000 miles away on the other side of Brazil from Machida’s home and training grounds in Belem.
He may not train there every day, but his official camp is Black House. Silva is usually working his corner when he fights, and machida also sports the black house shirt when he enters the ring
I see tito winning.
When Tito watches Star Trek does he wonder what it would be like to ‘go where no man has gone before’? I have never liked his persona, prayed that the mma gods would let SHAMrock find a way to beat him, and still love to watch chuck and randy beat his ass. I have a feeling this will be exciting to watch - tito is motivated but outgunned and will likely lose by sub or dec. I just hope it’s a good fight.
machida couldnt finish david health or sam mother fucking hoger, both of them suck. He may have dominated every one he fought in the ufc but not to the point where he can finish them(expect soko). So I dont see how people think hes going to knock him out.
Machida knock out Tito? Yea right…Chuck TKod him twice and he hits 100 times harder than Machida and he never knocked Tito completely unconscious…just dazed him really good the 1st time and wore him out the second time.
Exactly chadx23 machida is just an overated fighter thats in for a rude awakening to reality.Even though alot of people hate tito im glad that your honest about the whole situation you and i both know we will be talking alot of shit on this page come may 25……All tito fans get ready for the return we all been waiting for.The old tito will be back!
Hes gonna get spanked again, and this time it will be even more embarrassing. Id advise Tito not to piss Machida off. Remember he does spar with Anderson Silva everyday of his life. He isnt good on his feet by accident, there is a reason.
Espero q tito ortiz gane esta pelea, soy un gran fan de este peleador, siento q los años y la evolucion de este deporte le han pasado factura pero creo q es alguien q puede dar mucho mas…
espero q ganes tito y espero ver la revancha tito vs evans
Yeah, whatever he said!
que?
In all honesty…Tito has always been overhyped..and overrated..
Tito hasnt done squat in years…literally ducked Chuck and was slain by him twice..Forrest beat him and was fucked on the decision..and couldnt beat Evans….now c`mon..
JV, John Hackleman said he doesn’t want chuck to fight machida because he is too hard to train for (as in they won’t find someone with machida’s style to train with). This was on a youtube video, I don’t know the link but if you take your time you’ll find it.”
NIGGA…DONT LIE..He said he would fight Machida. But the prep would be different…Chuck would beat him. Lyoto isnt on that level yet..
I don’t know about Tito having ‘better standup’ but I do know Machida aint going to KO Tito. If Tito donkey kong 2 hand hammer fists Machida @ guard like he’s been doing at his prime, I don’t see how boring Machida will grind a UD like he usually does based on ‘aggression’.
Tito UD or tko round 2.
Machida wins this fight, I hope Tito proves me wrong but I just don’t see it. I don’t want Dana to have the last laugh but I think he will in this case.
I hate Tito. And I think Machida is going to smash him. TKO in rd 2
man i hat fighter like Machida. i hope Tito feds him elbow after elbow and smashes him into submission.
Tito and Machida are both my boys!! Can’t wait for this one!!
titos gonna win this fight ..machidas never fought someone like tito. even if machida wins i dont see him beating the other talent in the lhw division. wand, chuck, jardine, rampage, forrest. machida is overrated and just because he trains with anderson silva dont mean shit to me and hes gonna have to actually beat someone worth talking about before i even say hes decent!
and it wont be tito that he beats….thats for sure!!
Tito’s just not the same fighter anymore, and I think that was showcased in the bout with Rashad Evans.
Stylistically this is a bad matchup for Tito because Lyoto’s footwork and mastery of the distance is going to keep Tito’s shots out of range. I don’t think I’ve evr seen Lyoto flatfooted, he’s always on the balls of his feet. I think Tito will constantly have to shoot from a distance and it’s going to wear him down.
Tito is a legend, but come on guys you’re fooling yourself if you believe he’s going to beat Machida.
Joe Silva made this match for a reason, because they knew it would be a bad match for Tito. You think Dana wants Tito to leave the organization with a win? Of course not, so they picked a matchup for Tito where he would be all but guaranteed a loss.
