elite xc tickets
Elite XC tickets are now available for “Saturday Night Fights” at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on May 31.

The sale for the first-ever mixed martial arts show to air on network television (CBS) began last Friday; however, there are plenty of seats available, ranging in price from $18 to $1003.

Not a bad deal considering fans can get a good look at the action inside “The Rock” even in the cheap seats.

“Saturday Night Fights” will showcase 12 total bouts — seven on the under card and five that will be televised during the primetime slot that airs on CBS at 10 p.m. ET.

Here’s the main card line up:

Kimbo Slice vs. James “The Colossus” Thompson

Elite XC Middleweight Champion “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler vs. Scott “Hands of Steel” Smith

Gina Carano vs. Kaitlyn Young

Phil “The New York Badass” Baroni vs. Joey Villasenor

Brett “The Grim” Rogers vs. Jon Murphy

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. ET for the prelim matches and it’s set to be a long night with several solid bouts. We’ll keep you posted as the under card fights are announced.

If you live in the New Jersey area this is a show you’re not going to want to miss. Not only is it a special night because it’s an historic night for MMA, but this card is set up to be a real crowd pleaser.

Don’t be surprised if the five main card fights don’t go the distance … and that’s something to be excited about.

To purchase tickets head over to Ticketmaster.com right now. Or, hit up StubHub.com for more options (remember that StubHub.com will have seats available even if the event is “sold out.)

They better hope this works because if it dosen’t they wont be around long. Elite XC has again reported major losses for thier 2007 fiscal year. They been loosing money since the begginning and it is not getting any better. I hope they go under so the UFC can buy them out and become the NFL of MMA its the only way the sport dosent turn out like boxing.

i agree. if this doesnt work and get respectable ratings with no ppv revenue, elite will fold like a lawn chair. no more buyouts though, the ufc can just wait for them to go under and pick and choose who they please. it could possibly be a hit though. i think it will take at least 2 shows to tell. they’ll have to give away those 1000$ seats.

fop is saying that FOX is the leading candidate on closing a network deal w/ the ufc. this would blow elite ouy of the water.

Fox makes a lot of sense too, along with NBC. Fox is known for pushing the programming envelope, but right now its only successful shows are cartoons that attract the same demographic as MMA.

its not a bad card and i may be more likely to tune into this for free than pay for the ufc england card

if they do fold i wouldnt bank on the ufc bailing them out… its not like theyd really want any of the fighters on offer… easier to let it fold and pick through the bones… maybe lawler ninja and baroni for WEC perhaps

they dont really have any fighters that the ufc is going to pay to obtain… infact its more likely that the opposite is true and DW would prefer to pay not to have quite a few of them stinking up the ufc again

Soapbox moment…

I think this whole network television and Kimbo idea is bad for the sport.

It just feeds the stereotypes that have plagued the sport from day one. Picture your average boxing fan and what is there argument against MMA??

“Human cockfighting” or “Brawlers being chucked in a cage beating the hell out of each other”

Kimbo is not the ambassador that we need. Coming out to gangster rap and pretending to shoot the camera. It just screams freak show as opposed to a proper sport.

What the non MMA fans need is to watch Randy, GSP or Forrest and then they might change their prejudice.

Good point. I’m assuming the live event will have a 15 second delay so they can at least beep out all of the curse words that will pour out of the fighters mouths in the after-fight interviews like diarrhea after too much taco bell. Then again, Baroni will lose, so there goes that bowl full of cuss words that won’t be included in the winning interviews.

Thompson was knocked out by Butterbean so the whole debate around Kimbo stepping up has no credibility whatsoever. Sure Brock lost his first fight but at least he stepped up and fought a credible opponent. I am intrigued by Kimbo but will not be impressed until his opponents are of higher quality.

Hands of Steel Scott Smith vs. Ruthless Robbie Lawler is going to be the best fight on this card.
win or lose the N.Y BaddAss is always entertaining.i hope Phil gets the win over Villasenor.
Thompson vs. Kimbo will end with someone KOed,probably James.i would like to se James pull off an upset and KO Kimbo, but Kimbo has got that huge ass beard protecting his chin.
