I can’t wait for this card! I can’t help but hope Tito puts a beat down on Machida, it aint gonna happen but i hope.
Also gonna enjoy watching Wand run through Jardine and his chicken dance style of fighting.
As much as I want WAND to win I think Jardine has a decisive size advantage against him. He looked tiny in his last fight with Chuck
Brandon, even in Pride wanderlei was usually the smaller fighter (except when he fought some Japanease dudes and Arona) No one said he was too small when he was destroying Rampage (who is HUGE at 205 lbs). Size will not be a problem for wanderlei!
Worse case scenario he cutts down to middleweight and scares the crap out of every middleweight not named Henderson or Silva!
I agree Brandon but silva will come at him like a train after losing his first fight. Can’t wait for lots of these fights!
Also, Wandy wont sit back and wait for Jardine to strike first. But I’m sure Jardine knows he can’t use the same game plan against Wandy that he did againt Chuck, two totally different fighters. I think Wandy will run in and tear off Jardine’s head, then throw it at Liddell. lol

Wandy is my favorite fighter at 205 but I just have a bad feeling about this fight. Jardine’s size and awkward style could be bad for Wandy. Don’t get me wrong, I hope he gets Jardine in the clinch and destroys him the way he did Rampage but Jardine is a hell of a fighter and I can’t count him out of this one.
Dam this card is stacked! Hope Tito exposes ( the butterfly ) Machida.
I’m not a fan of Penn or Sherk…
I’m looking forward to watching Jardine take on Wandy… but even more so, I’m looking forward to hearing all the sh@t-talking that Tito does before/after his fight. I have a feeling Rogan is going to have to fight him to regain control of the mic!

i saw an interview with Tito and said he has nothing against Machida, and says he is a great fighter. The only smack i heard him talk was against Dana White.
Penn and Sherk will be a great fight. One fighter spends all day flipping tires and swinging an sledgehammer for cardio and one spends all day in the guard.

Why would anyone want a has been, entertainer like Tito, who is leaving the UFC after this fight, to defeat Machida, who is 1 of the top 3 contenders to Rampage’s title?
Machida loosing to Tito would be a disaster and I can not understand why any fan of the UFC would want to see this happen!

A fan roots for the fighter he wants to win, not the promotion moron. And as far as Liddell vs Rampage 3, I’m a big Liddell fan so I would love it. Chuck goes out there to kill, Machida grindes out a boring decision.
Titos last fight was a loss in a boring decision. Didnt Machida just KO Sodujuko (how ever you spell it?) and another submission win before that, HELLO! MACHIDA!!!!

Adam G: U r absoluetly right! Machida is a top 5 LHW fighter in the UFC. BTW, Machida submitted Soko, either way finishing Soko was very impressive. IMO, Machdia is one of the toughest fighters in the world to build a game plan against. He is sooo damn tricky! At 1st I didnt like him, now I really appreciate his style!
Only time in the past couple years that Tito has been in an exciting fight, was when the Iceman was punching his face in!!!

lol… i hear what you’re saying, but I was a Tito fan since back in the day when he used to just tear through fools. So were a couple thousand other people who flip flopped. Machida will probably win, but still rooting for the old Tito to GNP his face INTO and THROUGH the mat!! and then dig a grave for him to sleep in, next to Ken Shammy. HAHA!!

I dont understand how in “Today’s mma” tito can still have fans. His ground game is very novice. He hasnt passed an opponents guard in like 10 years… What is there to like? that he talks sh*t? He brings nothing to the pctagon, Machida will make him look silly anywhere this fight goes.

Standing up: Tito punches like Matt Hughes (girly), Machida has the toughest stand up style to adjust to in the UFC….ask Liddell and Hackleman… Standing up Machida will land shots at will and Tito wont land not 1 punch on Machida. Stephan Bonner said it best: Fighting machida is like fighting a GHost, you just cant hit him.
Groundgame: Can Tito take Machida down?…Probably! But so what, Machida has some of the best ground game in the entire division and a very dangerous guard. Tito hasnt passed a guard in years. If anyone think Tito will be able to sit in Machida’s guard for 15 minutes without getting his arm ripped off is in for a rude awakening!
Originally I was not a fan of Machida, but since the Nakamura fight he has turned up the aggression and now I am really starting to enjoy his unique style of fighting. Liddell made a career out of world class footwork, and Machida’s may be better. He doesnt provide the Brutal KO Highlites but I hjave learned to appreciate his unique style of fighting…Machida should be taken serious….Tito is a JOKE!
yea.. i was surprised how Machida picked sokoudju apart (his mask is stupid by the way, let it be known). but really, he was just standing there, and when it went to the ground, he was just laying there. Machida throws a punch and legkick and the runs away. reminds me of my little brother. Its not amazing and I’m not a fan of that. lol.
If Tito didn’t hold on to the fence, he would’ve beat overrated Rashad. right? And besides that, he has 3 losses since 2000: chuck twice (his friend) and couture (hw champ) so there’s no shame in that. I think its the weird stuff he’s doing outside the octagon that is making people doubt him inside the octagon. He better be living in the gym if he wants to win this fight. He’s a good coach (on TUF) and down to earth when he’s not talking about himself constantly. I’m not his biggest fan or anything but I’d rather Tito win than Machida.
you answered your own question, that disasterous outcome would/could put the lhw guys on notice. If tito comes in prepared and focused (not on acting or whores) who knows what Tito we’ll see. Even if he wants to sign somewhere else (which I’m not convinced of) he’ll have to put on a god show. If Machida dominates him, then who can you sell a tito ortiz fight to??
Tito is a joke but one thing you have to remember is that Tito has destroyed people from the guard but I do agree with you guys, Tito will likely be submitted in the second round.

HA! This is the best card of the year so far and im stoked, time flew by since Joe Daddy, its been like ten minutes. . . If Sherk was the champ you wouldnt get to see him fight til December, if you’re lucky! BJ will probably fight a total of 4 times this year, or by Jan 19 of 2009, (Joe/Jan, Sherk/May, ?/August, and ?/December/Jan) thats a champion. Then its GSP time baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Tito wins, it brings down a potential contender for a title shot (machida) and gets rid of Tito(his last contract fight). The division is stacked, so maybe for the sake of figuring out who fights rampage next, it would be good if machida lost.
Wandy isn’t the same guy he was. He’s been beat down and slimmed down (for whatever reason). When was the last time he “walked through” anyone?

- lyoto will pick apart from the outside since Tito has very sub par striking while defending takedowns, lyoto will probably get the better of tito in the clinch. Any GnP tito will have will do little to no dmg to lyoto
Wanderlei by TKO in the 1st
- Jardine will be overconfident in his leg strikes with his win over Liddel plus the long layoff will be a factor. Silva will look for and check those leg kicks while having superior striking. Greg Jackson and his incredible game plans might be the key.

I’m right here bro.. I literally can’t can’t wait till Penn silents the haters on May 24.. I don’t see anyway of Sherk winning this fight. Penn’s striking abilities are better, Penn’s ground game is better, $hit Penn is just a better fighter period.. If the fight goes to the ground there’s no way Sherk will be able to pass guard. I don’t think he will even try to.
However, even though I see eye to eye with you on most things, I disagree with you on you pick of Machida over Tito. I think (and hope) Ttto has one or two good fights left in him. I truly miss the old Tito, the one who used to do his signature post-fight rituals. But that’s just my opinion mang.

i love the hopes and expect to see this fight soon but just not yet, i see Dana forcing BJ/FlorianHuerta winner first and formost. Wanderlei should knee his way to victory against jardine, as we saw when he fought houston he got raped in the clinch. And wanderlei has a way better one than houston.WAND ko round one or midway round 2.

Man I cant wait for this card! I am going to be rooting for Jardine. I backed him when he beat Chuck, I knew Chucks style was perfect for him. Silvas style is going to be a nightmare for him. He will have no time at all to measure his greatest strength, his leg kicks. I am a little worried that Silva is going to give him the same treatment that he gave to Forrest. Jardine does have heavy hands, if he could knock out Wandy that would show how hard he can hit, as Chuck hit Wandy with everything the whole fight and never really got close to knocking him out. If Jardine does win though the UFC and Dana might have to use the Matt Lindland t-shirt excuse to get rid of him as they really do not want another marketing nightmare on their hands.
Does anyone knoe if they are having a press conference or any autograph sessions befdore the fight? I am going to Vegas on May 22 and would like to go to a press conference if you can.
