UFC 83 After Party with Thiago Alves
Thiago “Pitbull” Alves, coming off a big knockout win over Karo “The Heat” Parisyan at UFC Fight Night 13 earlier this month, will be in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to host a UFC 83: “Serra vs. St. Pierre 2″ pay-per-view (PPV) viewing party at the Diesel Playhouse.

This special event is being put on by The Substance Group in association with Miller Genuine Draft, as well as a host of other sponsors.

Alves certainly cleaned up the mess at the top of the welterweight contenders list by taking out ‘The Heat’ and will look to get a shot at the title — Jon Fitch more than likely gets the next opportunity, taking on the winner of the main event this weekend sometime later this year.

If you’re in Toronto and you couldn’t score tickets to get out to Montreal to catch this historic card live, then this is a guaranteed great place to catch all the action.

The Diesel Playhouse sells out the PPV viewing parties each month so pick up your tickets beforehand. Click here.

i think that is Thiago fought GSP it would turn out a lot like the Thiago vs Fitch fight where Fitch took him down and controlled him until he pounded him out.

i agree w/ this statement. i like alves and the karo win was huge but he still needs another big win against diego or koscheck before we start talking gsp.

Since Tiago is the #2 competitor for the welterweight title, the earliest he can get a shot at the champion would be 8 months from now. Hopefully he doesnt just sit around and wait for his title shot.

The ideal scenario is Marcus Davis defeats Swick in June and the UFC set up a match up between Davis vs. Tiago….Talk about Fireworks!

MGD and The Substance Group are sponsoring? What’s that mean, free beer (MGD’s of course) as well as a wide variety of opiates, benzo’s, coke, and weed?

Now THAT is a party my friends!!!!

I sincerely thought that more people would have laughed at that comment. I know if I read it, I would have put “LMFAO”.

I guess a lot of the “youngsters” don’t know what opiates or benzo’s are (isn’t a benzo a nice car? LOL). Then they thought it was Coca Cola, not cocaine…

As long as you stop at the percocet and vicodin level. Oxycontin and dope/heroin is bad news!

OxyContins are disgusting and Heroin is not an option. Nothing like a perk or 2, kick it in with a blunt gets me all hype for a nice fight!

Why would you ever hope that happened to anyone? You have some issues to work out.

Thiago is a beast standing. The best in the division on his feet. He needs too work hard on his ground game to ever become a champ. Especially since GSP is probably gonna be champ.(im going for Serra)

LOL, what a week…GSP looking nervous on yahoo sports (which I gave to mania), McCarthy and Mcdonald getting way more press (on this site only I think) then they’ll ever get again, and just the overall build up to the event.

He will not make it to GSP he will fight some coming up that is in the same boat… Koscheck?

Karo should fight someone who lost so its Hughs (NO), Serra after GSP (NO) (Hugh and Serra is a no brainer) so that leaves. Nobody I can think of.

I do think they could match him up with Swick or Koscheck or maybe even a chance to avenge his loss vs Diego???

Clinch (Karo)
Stand-up Striking (Alves)
Shooting (Koscheck)
Ground n’ Pound (?)
Submissions (Serra)
Allround (GSP)

Do I have it wrong what about Fitch???

Comment by Arnold
2008-04-16 07:06:57

Fitch seems to improve after every fight, I’d almost give him the GnP. Karo’s “Clinch” looked like crap against Alves. Alves made my day by KO’ing Karo, but he needs a couple more fights before he’s at the top, if he can even get there.

Remind me again who Serra has submitted? I believe it was Kelly in 02… after that its been a string of decisions with exception to GSP’s KO.

The Fitch Vs. GSP fight is very interesting because Fitch finds his weaknesses and exploites them. GSP doesn’t have too many, so I think it would be interesting to see what style he’d bring to that specific match…

I laughed my ass off when he KO’d Karo. lol Just because Karo was so close to having a title shot, and then thought Thiago would be a sure win for him. lol Classic.

If he gets a shot at GSP it will be a very short fight.
