I can’t believe mania didn’t credit me with the assist (again). I posted this about an hour ago, they didn’t post it, and then they put it on the front page. Man thanks a lot guys. I like how he says he’ll win or it will end in the hospital…get the stretcher ready.

That place is going to be insane once GSP walks into the cage. You won’t even be able to hear yourself think with all those crazy Canadians. GSP, The Serra Teara.

Can’t wait for this fight. I know GSP is favored, but nothing’s gauranteed. I’m much more excited to see them fight the second time than I was the first.

did you watch the interview??? I know he speaks in broken english, but at the end he says he will be victorious or the only way he loses is if he’s in the hospital. Something to that affect, I’m not rewatching it

maybe he’s referring to ‘not tapping’ and going to the hospital instead.

This fight is going to be great in the Northern United States! I can’t wait to see that Frenchie make Serra pay for his kicking his ass last time. I don’t think anyone can stop GSP right now maybe if The Spider comes down to fight.

Man… never saw that lip-biting before. At first I thought he was chewing gum or had some salad stuck in his teeth or something.

Anyhooo, GSP should run for Prime Minister after his 2nd rnd GnP win.

I’m starting to think the fighters are getting way too many interviews. Half of what they are saying they have repeated 5 times already. And it takes a lot of time out from their preparation. I know they’re not doing as intense work outs just a few days before the fight, but they should still be staying focued on the fight, and worried less about their public image.

Serra is in big trouble. GSP has never been as motivated as he is for this fight, and based on his training camp, he’s never been this well prepared either. His training partners are elite fighters, his head trainer is one of the best in the world, all this spells a bad night for Serra.

Comment by Fidel Cashflow
2008-04-15 12:16:07

He’s not really as bad as people think under pressure. Yeah he lost the first fight to hughes, that was probably a lot of pressure. He came back and crushed him twice, and before that he beat a ton of big names in high stakes fights. His comeback fight with koscheck and the third fight with matt hughes (short notice) were both big pressure fights. He dominated.
I think he didn’t take training seriously for matt serra. He paid for his mistake, much like keith jardine (vs houston alexander).
that’s not to say he can’t lose again, but i think it will be different this time around.

Comment by Griffinfan05

GSP’s game plan is to walk right up to Serra and smash his F’n face in.

Comment by Brandon
2008-04-15 12:31:20

I’m curious too. Basically I feel GSP can do anything he wants out there though, whether he wants to go to the ground or strike with Serra he will probably be successful. A safer bet is probably taking Serra down so won’t have a chance to clip GSP with a wild haymaker

Comment by jerrolds
2008-04-15 12:33:02

I’m thinking GSP wont let serra get into the pocket to avoid those short hooks…

GSP will either be on the outside picking his shots while being defensive and watching for that haymaker, if serra tries go step in - GSP will immediately get in the clinch and overpower him for some sweep takedowns and GnP while watching for arm bars

As long as GSP keeps serra out of the pocket standing up and nullifies serras sub attempts he’ll be fine

If he takes more of a lyoto machida approach to stand up - since serra does have KO power (did not fear this from hughes) and keeps his cool and avoid subs - it will be an EASY win for GSP.

Comment by Clayton
2008-04-15 13:35:18

That makes a lot of sense. So long as he doesn’t feel like he has something to prove (a solid KO or sub), I think he should be able to pull this off.

good question. i think gsp will look to take serra down this time and win by gnp or sub. yeah i said sub to all the serra fans. gsp might pull out the old spinning backfist. its worked before and it could work again. i dont dislike serra btw, gsp is just one of my favs. after this fight i would root for serra over any other ww except diego. especially hughes and koscheck.

Comment by Shadyone33

it has indeed and if shonie can land the b-fist against serra, so can rush. i think gsp can beat serra in any fashion he chooses, standing or on the grnd.

He looked at little nervous, lip biting, laughing to himself at the end of the interview. Doesn’t mean he’s not going to perform when it counts, but you can see he’s feeling the pressure. Serra, on the other hand, is probably calm as can be. I’m starting to think this fight could go either way, but I still have GSP because I think his conditioning will catch up with Serra around the third round and he’ll get a stoppage. Don’t think he’s going to destroy him, though. Serra will probably gain a lot of respect even in defeat because this fight is going to be close in the early going.

Comment by Hardcharger
2008-04-15 14:17:47

Not hardly. GSP looks like he’s chomping at the bit, and as confident as ever that he’s going to freight train Serra, which he will. He’s been waiting for this revenge fight for a long time, and he’s prepared himself with a great training camp. Serra and his lame trash talking and Rocky references are going to be in trouble.

If GSP is nervous (and he might be in the clip) I think it’s just because he’s tense he’s about to have an on camera interview. He knows his English is bad and he thinks he sounds awkward.

I’m 99.9% sure he’s not nervous about the fight.

When he lost to Matt Hughes, he got like 5 straight wins and dominated Matt in their next fights.

After the loss to Serra, he’s got two solid wins over top notch guys. People claiming he’s mentally weak is retarded.

GSP has to win, or else a lot of other fights that are supposed to happen wont matter anymore (BJ Penn) But if Sera wins i wont mind too much, that means Hughes gets a shot soon after fitch and would regain that belt for Penn to win it in their final match. I guess its fun either way but i want it to be between who i see as the best Penn#1 GSP#2 . . . Hughes . . . Sideshow only good for money draws in a few more fights! HA!

I am one of GSP’s bigest fan but F*$% he didn’t seem confident enough rather a little scared. Once a person gets beat badly once, he will remember that for life and will always have a negative relation. For GSP, IT’S ALL IN HIS MIND. Only he has to have a clear positive focus mind. I pray GSP wins that night.

I am a Matt Hughes fan, but you have to respect GSP. GSP is a true gentleman, and he is the best fighter in MMA right now. Serra is going to get destroyed. GSP looks so focused and relaxed, and Serra is still running around acting like a punk. I only hope that, after losing to GSP, Serra has the guts to back up what he said about Hughes.

GSP wins by submission in round 1, rear naked choke. After getting hit a few times, Serra will give up his back nice and easy.
