Here’s where he should stand…Go fight Nog, contract is done…Pray Fedor gets through Timmy (because if he doesn’t, the fight loses it’s luster). This whole contract thing is a bit old, especially now that Fedor is fighting and it’s not against Randy. We the fans are the ones losing out.

if Randy could beat Nog, too.

I believe he could, he’s a master of making and sticking to a game plan. As long as he could avoid a submission, I feel he’d grind out a boring victory. On the flip side, I don’t see Fedor “I smash cans and freaks” beating Tim “The Bore”

i don’t know timmy’s sub defense isn’t that great and that is fedor’s thing, i think fedor is smart enough to get the fight to the ground asap and work timmy over w/a arm bar.

i guess i’m just thinking that the risk is too high. there’s a good possibility Nog would win.

… i think couture will miss his shot regardless cuz fedor will never fight anyone for less than a million per fight! i dont car who the better fighter is anymore between these two i just care about Nog as the only real great heavyweight out there left competing. and randy shot himself in the foot unfortunatly. he just want to fight fedor and he wont get his chance.

and couture nailed it right on the head with kimbo’s situation on elite xc…hes heas the ptoential to be great…but the fact that they marketing the barbaric streetside of it is just negligable for the sport overall. and LOL!! randy really doesnt like Angle for talking all this S***!!!

Just go back to the UFC and dont train at all and fall down after the first punch in all the fights remaining in your contract and then get up and say in the post fight interview that you did it on purpose.

Problem solved.

i think he still has 2 fights so fight Nog to see who is undisputed then myb fedor signs or Randy can defend against another contender at HW

Randy’s right about the exclusive contract thing. Holding fighters back is not fair to the fighter. After 1 loss, anybody could be knocked off. Shady business practices. And also about the ranking system, anybody know of better ranking than sherdog? Theirs is pretty unbiased except for overrated Gomi.

I dont agree with evrything Randy has done but I LOVE to watch him fight, but with the way things are going lately, I’m beginning to wonder if we will ever see Randy compete in MMA again…the UFC will do everything to stop him from fighting unless it is under thier banner and the fans are missing out.

Comment by idunnonadda
2008-04-11 16:04:03

truth is they can’t stop him from fighting ever, he might have to pay some money back or something but they can’t take away his right to fight ever no matter what the contract says

I believe this fight has somewhat lost it’s luster all ready, at least for me. I completely understand that good things come to those who wait, but I’ve heard so much about this and none of it is ever good news, and it’s been goin on awhile. Randy Couture and Fedor are both great in their own right’s, but there are so many other great fights to look forward too, that I kinda just don’t care about this one anymore. The shame is, no matter who is to blame, it probably could’ve all been avoided.

So many big egos at work here. I wish they would bring in an arbitrator to negotiate and end to the stalemate. If the Zuffa’s want to let Dana run the business side, fine; but they should hire someone else to deal with the fighters.

Why aren’t any of the mma blogs writing anything about the Sports Illustrated article in this weeks magazine about Lee “Lightning” Murray? They have a big article that talks about his failed heist and incarceration in a Moroccan prison. It also talks about his street fight with Tito Ortiz.

Pretty interesting read.

i read it and think its a shame the only news on mma in si is negative, unlike last year. murray was never a champiom in the ufc and really wasnt a prominant fighter in that org, but that was what got this story printed cause he fought briefly in the ufc.

Randy lost his luster when he decided he was bigger than the UFC itself. His move to simply walk away from the organization revealed that it wasent “just about the competition”. The way I see it, Power and Money became a filter of sorts for The Natural. Randy is still viewing life through that filter. From what I’ve seen in life, he’s probably due for some humble pie. IMHO.

Randy - I love watching you fight, but you’ve been a baby. Finish the contract, then negotiate a new one. Let’s see you take on the Large Nog.

Fedor - He’s not a can fighter, he’s got a great pedigree… but he’s not fighting anyone great anymore. So now he’s boring. Get off my top 10 lists when you won’t fight anyone in the top 100, please.

Sylvia - He ain’t so easy to take down, and he is a big old boy with a good camp and a lot of experience. This is a fight I want to see.

WHY IS NO ONE COMMENTING ABOUT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THAT CLIP?

Please please please say Lon Mchearen (sp?) is not calling the action for Strikeforce on NBC. Even without Norman Chad, this will not be fun to watch.

Randy has just ruined his career, lost the respect of a lot of fans, lost money in a court battle and all to fight someone he will lose to haha. If Fedor really wanted to fight Randy he would of gone to UFC, im sure Fedor could of at least agreed to a one match contract in the UFC. Fedor is too greedy and im losing respect for him when he is fighting cans & freaks, and dosn’t want any part of real competition, has the tim sylvia fight being signed yet? And even if he wins that he’ll go back to fighting cans in japan. Why is Randy wasting his time & money chasing fedor? If the fight actually does happen outside the UFC Randy will have probably lost more money in court then he will get payed for the fight. Seems kind of pointless. His motive to leave UFC was probably for one last fight with a big pay out, but look how its turning out for him, he needs to stop listening to his crazy wifes ideas.

WOW, great post, The can ?freakshow crusher and the Bore will fight, but the bore (timmy) will win, so the whole Fedor Randy fight won’t be able to get as much HYpe. Perfect world (as I stated) Randy beats Nog and Fedor wins…not gonna happen

Sick of this.

Defend your belt, honor your contract, fight NOG, then leave if it’s so terrible.

Randy has turned the MMA world into a future boxing fiasco.

Thanks Couture!

I agree with everyone that Randy would have demonstrated more integrity by honoring his UFC contract and fighting Nog. But I don’t read anyone criticizing the UFC about their role in the situation. I am guessing that the UFC took advantage of Randy’s eagerness to come out of retirement as a light heavy weight to immediately fight Tim Sylvia for the heavyweight championship, by only offering him a small amount of money. Nevertheless, Randy beat Sylvia, then successfully defended his belt, probably again for not a lot of money. Meanwhile, Randy became a megastar, drawing in phenomenal sums of money for the UFC, while Pride fighters were probably making more money than he was. I bet Randy asked the UFC for more money to keep fighting, but they did not want to set a precedent and start paying successful fighters more than their contract stated. Because the UFC was probably paying Randy very little and he was making them so much money, they should have offered him more of a bonus for continuing to win, which may have kept him in the UFC.
