Yeah I Wann See That Fight Happen. Rich Should Start Training With Anderson Silva They Could Dominate That Weight Class Together.

I like Franklin but when he say’s, “I went out and got a new coach and still used all my other ones”, I can see why the fight went down hill so fast. That’s like saying, “I divorced my wife and got remarried but I kept my ex-wife around so we can mull over the same mindless arguements so that I can learn what not to do in this new relationship!” Lose Gurgel and go train with Couture or anyone else, but I truly believe Gurgel is really holding this guy back!

I think it’s more like saying, ahem, “I changed my old diet and got onto a whole new regimen but I’m also going to keep the old regimen just in case the reason for losing wasn’t the diet after all, but that I couldn’t defend Silva’s insane knees to my poor face.

I’ve been commenting on the exact same thing about Gurgel since Rich’s 1st loss to Silva. Dump Gurgel, go train with Couture and work on wrestling/clinches/takedowns. Not that Rich could beat Silva, but this is the area where he needs the most work. Franklin doesn’t have the strongest chin, there’s no way to work on that part. But he’s a classy guy and great representative of MMA

What is next for Rich? I mean he wins 3 more fights in a row and then gets another shot at Silva? Ooof. Poor Rich. I don’t think he is ever getting that belt back.

I have the strange feeling that every few months we’re going to see a rotation of Franklin, Hendo and one fighter soon to be named getting knocked out by Silva.

Wll you figure by the 5 or 6th time he fights Silva he will figure out that Silva is just that good. He can take the fight anywhere. He KO’s the stand up fighter, submits the BJJ specialist, out wrestles the pancrase champ, and KO’s the tenacious in seconds. None of that includes all of his other fights in cage rage and Pride. Yeah he has some lost but just mistakes, the only time he got owned was against Daiju Takase. The fight is available on mmalinker.com but he really does not even look like he goes into the fight the way we are used to seeing him. Even in his loss to Ryo it is a fluke thing. He owned Ryo the whole fight and that move would work 1 out of 100 times. IT was just that 1 time…It will be interesting to see in Wandy drop down to challenge, considering wandy used to be his corner man in the Pride days…

Anyway as far as Rich goes he is a stand up guy. He gives credit were it is due and I think that is why Silva respects him so much. At the end of the Hendo fight he says it was never a title fight because Rich was the real champ….Anyway Rich is a great guy, a great fighter, but unfortunatly he is runnning a marathon with the best of the best right now!

I like rich he’s a good guy, I’m sure he’ll beat lutter but unfortunately there is no going back to the belt as long as the spider is at MW, sorry.

yeah rich, that was no lucky punch either, you can even see anderson’s face become more fierce as he hit yours with that punch, that was 100% intended.

true dat, he’s not going to be champ anytime soon unless someone knocks off spider (but who?) he should move up or down in weight because he is a game fighter and it sux to be gatekeeper or #1 contender for the rest of his career. look at pete sell. he probably thinks that he has a better chance against GSP than spider, which he does. not saying he’ll win but has a puncher’s chance.

people need to get on Jake Sheilds / Anderson Silva hype after he beats fickett. I seriously think that he could touch spider. didn’t lutter get the mount on silva? Shields could do the same thing and end it right there.

It is a pity that Trevor Prangley lost his last fight. He is a much better fighter than Lutter and would have caused a lot of problems for the top fighters in this division. Matt Lindland is really the only one left to challenge Silva though. Dana needs get over himself and get Lindland and Barnett back in the mix. That is what the real fight fans want to see.

GSP to move up to fight Silva, they can meet in the middle 177.5 what a great fight

That would seem very unlikely. i would not like to see a 3 round catch weight bout that does not involve a title unification at all of the two weight classes. it makes more sense for silva to drop down than for gsp to go up weight…i dont think gsp has ever fought at middleweight(correct me if im wrong on that) but the frist half of silva’s career is at welterweight. i would rather see the figth happen at 170 for the welterweight championship and then see them both fight for the middleweight. not too many great fights in mw for gsp then there is for silva at welterweight. mw match ups(gsp vs marquardt, gsp vs. bisping, gsp vs. franklin, gsp vs hendo, and gsp vs okami, gsp vs. tanner, gsp vs. almeida). or ww match ups (silva vs. hughes, silva vs. john fitch, silva vs koscheck, silva vs. sanchez, silva vs. alves, silva vs. parysian) see you get alot more from silva dropping down even though hsp going up has sum really good one though.

Class act!!! But like I wrote before his last fight w/ the Spider - he needed to get that training you see in fight movies were everything changes and something clicks (I.E. KickBoxer) - haha. But that is just not going to happen with the old crew hanging around. Like Ray said - go train w/ Couture or find that mistick trainer in Thi Land; which ever is eaiser.

There is a glass ceiling in the MW division & its called Anderson Silva. Franklin is the best of all the contenders but will not beat Silva.

Silva isn’t indestructible, he is human, but at present there is no fighter in the UFC who will beat him at MW.

Stepping up a division wont help him as he isn’t strong enough to compete with the top LHW and I doubt he could recover enough from cutting weight to drop to WW.

While Silva is around he will always be the 2nd best & he knows this.

Regardless of whether he ever gets the belt back or not or whether he beats Silva or not, Franklin is still one of my two or three favorite fighters. He’s going to kick Lutter’s pudgy ass.

Am I the only 1 not excited about Franklin vs. Lutter?

At this point I really only want to see Rich vs. Henderson.

and Rich will be good to test the young up and comming fighters, but I have no desire to watch him beat up Lutter.

I might not even order UFC 83….and I rarely miss an event, its just not appealing to me at all! The card started off as GREAT, now its mediocre!

I won 2 tickets to the Yamma Pitt fighting event yesterday from Philadelphia’s local sports radio station 610 WIP. I live in Philly and Atlantic City is only 45 minutes away, so I guess I will go watch this fake ass mma spectacle, but I am not so sure yet whgat I am going to do!

I am not all that crazy about watching fossil’s like Oleg, Frye, and Butterball, I mean Butterbean, fight in a glass bowl!

I think you may be right PW. I am a huge fan of Don Frye, more his personality than his fighting ability, but whatever….my brother wants to go so I guess, i will be at that fake ass mma event!

Who the hell am I going to bet on? Its all a bunch of has-beens, I dont know who is more washed up then the other…Betting on this event will be tough….What the hell if I get bored, I will just head down to the CRAPS table!

I did however get my hands on some Shrooms! Maybe I go to the fight tripping…all shroomed up. lol… we’ll see!

If you’re not excited over any mma event, you’re not a true fan, but a fan of ’spectacles’. Obviously some events might look more exciting than others but how many times have you watched a fight that wasn’t necessarily a headliner or ’supposed’ to be exciting yet it was? That’s the beauty of mma so your comment about not being excited about this event really shows your lack of knowledge and true love of this sport.
As far as that new Yamma stuff, why don’t you have an open mind about the event, you might be surprised. Or it might turn out to be garbage. But if you enter with a pre-formed opinion, how can you judge objectively? I mean we don’t know crap about it and yet you’re already calling it fake. Wow you sure sound like a very open-minded individual

Why would you not go John? Free tickets? Just go to AC for the night and have a good time. I mean seriously, if you don’t want to go, you can mail them to me (I’ll pay for shipping of course). I got nothing going on this weekend.

I am going…It was just unexpected. I wasn’t even trying to win them…I was talking Eagles and Sixers with Howard Eskins on the radio and at the end of our convo he just gave me 2 tickets.

How much mma is really going to be involved? I am actually excited about the tournament and seeing who can win 3 times in 1 night, but the superfights are pretty SuperLame!

I guess what I am really mad about is that my brother really wants to go, but I would rather go with a hot chick! Cant leave my lil bro hanging though so its whatever…

I Will let you guys know what I thought about the experience on monday!

Rich is a great MMA ambassador, but he’ll probably never be a champ again. Not that there’s anything wrong with 2nd place though. I think he’s at the point of his career where he should be going after “money fights” against fighters that are more popular with casual fans, even if it’s at LHW.
