Kurt Angle. Samoa Joe. Frank Trigg?

Total Nonstop Action (TNA) is currently trying to woo the former UFC and PRIDE fighter to the land of make believe for a full-time announcing job according to Rajah.com.

Trigg (16-6) is scheduled to provide color commentary for the main event of the company’s upcoming Lockdown pay-per-view (PPV) on April 13.

“Twinkle Toes” has worked as an announcer for PRIDE in the past and co-hosted numerous MMA radio shows.

Interesting to note that WWE.com (who links to the Rajah report) doesn’t realize that Trigg is no longer a commentator for PRIDE.

Or that there is no longer a PRIDE organization.

You would think that a company so eager to whip out a gogoplata at Wrestlemania would be a little more in-tune with the current MMA scene.

I guess somebody over in new media ate one too many chairshots.

Havent we seen Undertaker before in some interview video of matt hughes? and in the crowd at UFC events? doesnt suprise me he takes groundgame to another level in wrestling if he spends time watching MMA. (refering to the gogoplata)
And i read somewhere he takes BJJ lessons aswel.

I guess after GSP beats you into retirement TNA is the only thing left for you? Nice job Trigg, have fun watching fireworks and shouting incoherently into a microphone. Now I won’t have to watch your bald head in-between my old Pride highlights.

Well, they are still showing Pride on FSN which Trigg is announcing. Are all these old tapings or they working in any new ones occasionally?

That section of wwe.com just lists headlines for other sites, it’s not a news story of their own. It’s all RSS.

As for the gogo, Undertaker has been a hugh MMA fan way before TUF started airing. There’s even that video of Matt Hughes and Jeremy Horn showing him a flying armbar after a UFC event you can find on youtube.

Pride no longer exists. So they are tapings.

Yeah that flying armbar was nice. I think someone pulls it off on TUF tomorrow, swear I saw it on the preview.

TNA!? How the hell Frank’s gonna switch from real combat sport fighter to fake ass wrestling bullshit, sure your gonna git more money but there’s no pride of being a fighter in fake wrestling entertainment just pride of bein a fake ass wrestling actor. No offense commenters I love the old school ECW, WWF, WCW, man those were the glory ages of wrestling entertainment but now WWE, TNA, etc, have so many cheesy shady wrestlers with crappy names and their characters sucks. The old days, the characters were very original and more charismatic than those now.

He’s commentating, not wrestling.

I’m pretty shocked that a) WWE now reports TNA news on their website and b) WWE uses PWInsider.com as a source.

I like Frank Trigg…I’m actually surprised he never went more mainstream. He was a UFC contender, Pride contender, Pride announcer and analyst, he was on a VH1 reality show….he’s had a lot of exposure

2008-04-08 14:28:04

I guess Frank wouldn’t have to worry about Rear Naked Chokes in TNA.

“there’s no pride of being a fighter in fake wrestling entertainment just pride of bein a fake ass wrestling actor.”

I never understood this type of reaction whenever an MMA fighter gets involved in some way in pro wrestling. Yeah, it’s obviously acting, but how is it any less respectable than appearing on King of Queens? Most ppl loved it when Trigg, Randy, Rampage, and Hendo were on King of Queens, but when Trigg does pro wrestling, ppl get their panties in a knot.

And besides, Trigg just wants to work with his twin brother Kurt Angle.

Dude, I’ve been saying the same thing about them being twins for years.

We need to see:

Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart and Tank Abbott

VS.

Kurt Angle and Frank Trigg
