“That guy doesn’t want to fight me because he thinks he’s somewhere higher up than me? I just beat a guy that’s better than him. When was the last time he finished a fight anyways against any 155 pounder that was half decent on the ground … oh yeah never.”
– Nate Diaz — fresh off a thrilling submission win over Kurt Pellegrino at UFC Fight Night 13 — once again has some words for Tyson Griffin via GracieFighter.com. Griffin once trained with Diaz under Cesarr Gracie; however, he has since moved on to work with other camps … perhaps that doesn’t sit to well.

he actually has a point here
That would be a good fight, and the first Griffin fight to fall short of the distance since his octagon debut.
Diaz by submission.
nate diaz is for sure holding up the family name by proving that he is an awesome fight to watch! his fight with batman was awesome!!!!! he is showing that he is a force to be recconed with at 155! tyson griffin is a tough opponent , i mean lets think he is the only one to have ever defeated uriah faber, and he is totaly dominant againt anyone!!!! griffin will be tough for diaz because griffin is really good on his feet and diaz has shown that he can throw but not with the power that griffin has. it will be a good match if it happens!
i think tyson is fighting in july, the opponnent is unknown right now but i say have the ufc put this fight together for july,
I like how Diaz was pounded for a round by Pellegrino and said after the fight… “I knew he couldn’t keep up that pace.”
Man, that beating was something to withstand and then pull off the submission….. superb.
Oh, and of course, a fight against Griffin should be another excellent one.
Nate is getting too much credit now a days. The only reason he was able to beat Kurt was because he gassed badly at the end of the first round (Just like he did against Joe and Drew).
Before that he was getting worked badly, he couldn’t retain guard or pull off a submission or stuff takedowns until Kurt gassed. I’d make Tyson the favorite in this fight because he doesn’t gas and he is very strong on top.
I mean Come on, let’s not make Nate out to be some kind of submission master because he beat Kurt. It’s not the first time Kurt gassed.
Nate Diaz is a cry baby….I dont know why people like him so much….he cant even speak. And big deal to call out Tyson Griffin. If he thinks hes such a bad ass why doesnt he call out Stevenson or Penn? Because hes a pussy.
Make it happen Joe Silva!
TRIANGLE CHOKEEEEE
Nate Diaz has best BJJ in MMA that I’ve seen. If he gets stronger and get some hands he will be unstoppable.
Tyson Griffin is a joke…Diaz by stare down!…
Diaz is a joke. This clown will never hold a belt.
Griffin would tear Diaz up like a little girl. Griffin is a top is a top 5 contender. pelegrino is a nobody.
U gotta be friggin kidding me with a comment like that man. Nate diaz has nothing except for a few submissions. Have you ever seen griffins submission defense? LOL
Better BJJ than BJ Penn? You got to be out of your mind Eazy! Nate Diaz is good, and has shown a lot of heart and great BJJ skills…but best BJJ in MMA that you’ve seen? That tells me you need to watch more MMA.
But, Nate Diaz is very young and has a huge amount of upside that he may very well be the future of 155.
I love the line Rogan said on the show that Diaz’s Gracie Brown belt is a black belt in any other BJJ academy. So true…respect to Gracie Jiujitsu.
Both of them talk like 5 year olds, but Ill take Diaz by submission
It would be a doozy.
Diaz is a hell of a fighter, but I hate his attitude. The double-finger that Rogan orgasmed over at Fight Night was classless crap, and I’d like to see someone beat his face in.
That said, Diaz would take Griffin.
imma fan of nate. can anybody see him submiting bj??? LOL
Diaz by sub, i think if it goes to the ground Griffin gets finished.
Tyson! U MOTHER DUCKER!! lolhahahh

You must not have seen much MMA…Nogueira, BJ Penn, Dean Lister, Travis Lutter…watch some more fights
I wanna see Manny fight Diaz again. I believe Manny was dominating him until he hurt himself. That is the fight Diaz should want cause he knows he was losing that fight and Manny beat himself.
A manny-diaz rematch would be good to see, given that Nate was getting roughed up prior to the injury.
Nate’s BJJ is strong but not yet world-class. What makes his fights fun to watch is that he’s creative and relentless in his use of it. Every three seconds he’s trying a different move from a different angle on a different limb.
He has GOT to get some power in his hands real soon or it’s going hurt him down the line.
GO FOR IT KID!!!
i’m probably going to get trashed for this comment…
i hate watching a nate diaz fight! the kid gets his ass kicked for the entire fight, pulls a submission out of his ass, and wins! i thought batman , being a bjj black belt, would be able to avoid the submissions. he couldn’t and that was a let down. if there is two fighters i hate watching it’s nate diaz and lyoto machida.
lets see him try that shit on bj or kenny. give grey a rematch with him, and see if it happens again.
I would rather see Guida fight Griffin again and then see the winner fight Diaz.
tyson griffin would handle nate.
I have to admit I think that Nate Diaz has done an excellent job representing his family and Gracie Jits….my fear is that a little thicker 155pounder may be able to ground and pound him and beat him up. He beat pellagrino or whatever but he did take a little it of a pounding. I hope he continues to do well and keeps reppin against the big names in the division.
Diaz does have valid points and i love his attitude and his heart in the octagon…HOWEVER i just feel his stand up needs to improve a bit before fighting Griffen but then again Griffin’s ground game aint all that either right??…Also the Manny Gamburian vs. Nate Diaz fight HAS to happen sometime in the near future because the “manvil” does deserve that much….
Griffin by Mauling.
Tyson Griffin is so much stronger than Nate, he would literally eat his bones.
I still can’t get over how Manny gave Jeff Cox a cheap shot at UFN 13.. Watch it!! It’s pretty classless on Manny’s behalf, but we may not know the whole story.
When is manny gonna start fighting some top competition?
i think nate the great needs to be a little more humble. i was never a fan of nicks, but repected his fighting ability and heart. i just think he was too disrespectful to some of the top10 fighters in the ufc even after they beat him. nate the great doesnt need to be like nick he just needs to be like himself. he will sub tyson when they fight, but his bjj isn’t as good as b.j.s, so that is an overslight to b.j. against manny he was just starting to find his range in the 2nd when manny hurt himself. manny is an overated lay and prayer and i would like to see a rematch w/ him and creepy joe. can anyone tell i really like nate the great diaz? ha!. he could beat his brother if they fought right now at 160!
both nick and nate are cocky bastards
nate diaz will get beat when he fights a real contender….well i mean he always gets his ass kicked first but whatever. diaz-hole.
I think Nate and Manny should have a rematch at UFC 87 in Minnesota! Because i’m going to that one and would love to see the rematch live.
gotta love nate
Manny vs Nate is a no brainer.
Nate would get his butt kicked vs any of the top contenders, but I thought that about Batman… What a let down. Stay away from the guard and you got it made.
Lets see…

im sorry but i have to agree with an above poster. i can’t stand watching a guy get his faced bashed in for most of the fight and then seeing him pull a sub and win. its kind of like a team losing the whole game and throwing a hail marry at the end to win. you can’t get a miracle every time out. nate needs to work other areas of his game. if manny could lay on him like a cheap rug, what do you think a MUCH stronger, quicker and relntless griffin will do??
oh and my personal opinion about the above list. i would include spencer fisher in the b level guys, i think he would have a shot with most of them. i’m biased though i like fisher
that list is bs.
Generally I don’t think fighters should be able to call their own fights. Okay, if you are the champ you should have earned SOME say in it then. I think this happens to be a interesting fight though. Tyson Griffin has done nothing but win, win, win but he doesn’t get moved up to fight better guys. He is in the same boat as Arlovski- wins tactical, boring decisions and the UFC doesn’t want that.
This would be an interesting fight which Diaz hasn’t really earned yet but if it’s okay with Griffin, let them go.
A couple of changes though:
Top to bottom
A Level Fighters
BJ
Sherk
A- Level Fighters (on a good night could win the belt)
K-FLO
Huerta
Guida
B Level Fighters (climbing up)
Stevenson
Grey - iffy but I’ll leave him here
Diaz
Pelligrino
Tavares - move up from C
Lauzon - move up from C
Griffin - should have been on the list
Where is Edgar on that list? And how can you guida up there? Who has he beaten? And you have guillard up there but not neer or tavares or even tibau? Watch something other than Season 5 before making a list like that.
Can’t stand this guy and his brother. I think they’re both overrated. Why does everyone love them so much?
How can you put cole miller in there and not Jeremy Stephens… He has had 3 great fights in the ufc.. all against bjj black belts. put up a hell of a fight against din.. and just whoop the crap out of salava and miller…
Tavares’ bjj is no worse than nate’s and griffen took him. Granted it was a good relatively close fight, griffen would defidently handle nate no problem. If the competition was to see who would be mistaken for a retard by most people, Nate Diaz would slaughter tyson, and own the belt in all 5 classes.
I absolutely cannot frakkin’ wait till Nate Diaz faces Tyson Griffon. They’re both excellent fighters. Besides, I’m a big Nate Diaz fan.
RiverHorror - You can’t stand him because you’re a racist. (I’m totally kidding!!!) I have a friend who can’t stand them either — hates the way they talk or something.
I’ve liked Nate from the say I saw him on TUF. I like his laid back style, and the fact that he always, always backs up his words with his fighting. And when he boasts, it isn’t the infantile kind of boasting or smack talk that Tito (et al) tend to use.
Mamas Boy - I agree 100% with your list. Excellent synopsis.
I’m not a big fan of the Diaz’s however I think Nate’s got unbelievable talent and can definitely take on Tyson Griffin. As far as being a contender for the lightweight title, I don’t think he has the standup or the endurance to last with the top tier lightweights. I mean all of his fights have either been finished by submission in either the first or second round to guys who are decent at best. He was getting rocked by Pellegrino in the first round and then pulled off a submission out of nowhere. That’s great for him, but I still think he doesn’t have the experience or skill to last with BJ, Sherk, or KenFlo for that matter. I actually want to see him against Huerta. I don’t think he can beat Huerta. I think he would get blasted standing and the fight won’t go to the ground because I don’t think Nate can take him down. I know this thread is about Tyson. To answer the thread, yes Nate can beat Tyson.
PLEASE MAKE THIS FIGHT HAPPEN!!
I think Nate is getting a bit ahead of himself. Tyson would keep the fight standing and make a mess out of Diaz.
Nate is a bit of a one trick pony and Randy will explain it in plain English to Tyson… stay out of his guard = fight won.
Im glad Nate has the balls to call people out. Shows he isn’t hiding from anyone and he doesn’t want the protection that other TUF winners get. As to comments asking why he didn’t call out BJ or Stevenson is because the guy is classy enough to respect the division and knows he needs a few more wins against quality opponents before he can do that.
He isn’t a one trick pony like the above comment. He wins via Submissions. Would that make Chuck a one trick pony by winning by ko/tko?? Its MMA and what ever you do to do to win is fine. Its a win.
Nate is young, doesn’t give a f*ck and finishing fights.
He gets my respect all day long.
Nate has quickly become a man in the LW division of the UFC. When he first walked into TUF 5, he was simply know to most as, “Nick Diaz’s little brother”. Although his youth was displayed during a few episodes in the house, Nate impressed everyone with his performance in the octagon, both standing and on the ground. It was unfortunate what happened to Manny’s shoulder at the finale, because some haters still want to say that Manny “would” have won that fight. How many times do these people need to see Nate take a beating in round 1 but STILL win the fight via submission? Gray Maynad, Kurt Pellegrino… Plus Manny dry humped him when compared to the beatings Maynard and Pellegrino put on him in the first stanza. After winning season 5, Nate is 3-0 in the UFC fighting tougher competition along the way, and only wants it to fight the toughest fighters - sounds like the Kenny Florian spirit. With the 3 impressive wins, Nate has quickly made a name for himself, and is simply now known as “Nate Diaz”.
Nate called out Tyson Griffin after his last win against Alvin Robinson. The day after his win against Batman, I was on here saying that a fight between Nate and Tyson needs to be booked immediately. I had said:
“NATE F’ING DIAZ!!! That fight was reminiscent of his fight against Gray Maynard of TUF. He gets beat up in the first round and submits opponent in the second. This kid is ready to take on the top of the division, right now. Joe Stevenson’s win over Kurt Pellegrino, a decision win none the less, is what cemented a title shot for Daddy. So what does a win over Batman mean for Nate? I’ve yet to read thru the comments (I’m about to), but I got a recommendation on who he should fight next - Tyson Griffin. Plus Nate called Tyson out after his last win, and they used to train together until Tyson left. That is a fight I want to see. That fight would make a great Main Event to an UFN (story line included), or of course be showcased on a PPV.”
Please Joe Silva - Book Diaz/Griffin.
Nate Diaz is a cry baby….I dont know why people like him so much….he cant even speak. And big deal to call out Tyson Griffin. If he thinks hes such a bad ass why doesnt he call out Stevenson or Penn? Because hes a pussy.
Can someone say “Hater”? Nate a pussy? Actually, I’d say he’s the furthest thing from. At 22 years old he specifically says that he does not want to be babied like other TUF winners and he wants to fight the toughest fights out there. That doesn’t sound very pussylike to me.
Why doesn’t he call out Penn or Stevenson? The answer is quite simple. Although he has a goal of becoming LW champ, he is still realistic. He understands that he has only had 3 UFC fights so far. Joe won Season 2 and just got a title shot. Nate knows that he is not the number one contender right now, so what is the point in calling out the champ? It would just be talk. Instead, he thinks of the toughest opponent that is on the “next rung up the ladder” to fight, and that would be Tyson Griffin. I don’t know of a single pussy that called out Tyson Griffin.
I’d like to see someone beat his face in.quote]
It’s already happened a couple of times, and they STILL got choked out or had a limb torn apart.
I wanna see Manny fight Diaz again. I believe Manny was dominating him until he hurt himself. That is the fight Diaz should want cause he knows he was losing that fight and Manny beat himself.
Kurt Pellegrino was recently in a #1 contender bout, and has won a fight since then. That is who Nate Diaz just beat. Manny fought on the undercard against Jeff Cox. Nate fighting Manny would be a MAJOR step backwards for Nate. Manny needs to first prove that he can go 5 fights in a row without seperarating his shoulder.

THAT is MMA. A fight is a fight until it is over. If these fighters had the ability to finish Nate, you wouldn’t have your problem. When you have a fighter/team down and out, you must go for the kill. Why let them hang around only allowing the possibility of them pulling off an upset.
Did you forget to mention the UFC HW champ in your list, or do you not consider Big Nog in that group? Because he has taken some serious beatings and still won via submission.
I myself, love a come from behind victory - in any sport. What’s the sense of rooting for the favorite all of the time. I loved when Drew Ficket came from behind to beat Kos in the last 30 seconds of thier fight. Even though I was rooting for Guida, it was HIGHLY entertaining seeing Huerta down 2 rounds to 0 come out and do what he did in the 3rd. Were you upset that Huerta won that fight???
WHATS GOING ON HERE? ARE WE LOSING THE “QUOTE” FEATURE??? Or is the site experiencing some techinical difficulties? I really hope that its the latter of the two, because losing the “quote” button would be a mistake in my opinion, its used to keep conversations going and to argue valid points.
We better not be loosing that quote feature.
My favorite Nate Diaz quote: “Many people think TUF winners are sheltered….Not me, I dont want any sheltering”
This kid is ready to fight Tyson Griffin. He trained with Griffin for years, so he obvioulsy has an idea of how to explot Tyson.
We all thought Nate was crazy for taking a fight against Batman, who like Tyson is a lot stronger then nate and very well versed on the ground…. well Nate embarressed him!
Nate vs. Tyson has to be the next main event for the next UFN event.
Manny vs. Diaz is pointless because Diaz is light years ahead of manny. mann is wasting his time fighting Cox, Diaz was putting on a show UI wont ever forget against Batman.
Manny has a lot of catching up to do if he ever wants to fight Nate, because at this point, he doesnt deserve NATE!
How impressive was Nate submitting Batman (ju jitsu black belt), after taking all that punishment, and with out loosening Batman up 1st with strikes? VERY IMPRESSIVE.
In todays mma, many submissions come after a fighter loosens his opponent up with strikes…. Not Diaz, he just technically out outclassed him..
Nate Diaz has a very bright future!

i agree

actually most times im rooting for the underdog, and yes i was upset that huerta won. not because of that though, it was because i like guida more. the point im trying to make is that nate’s game plan is to let his face get pummeled until he can pull off a sub. thats sounds bad for his health. its not the first time we’ve seen that from him either.
I certainly admire Nates attitude and his BJJ is very good (although lets not get carried away, it’s nowhere near the best in MMA yet)However, unless Nate gets himself some hands his career will be shortlived - you can’t take a pounding like that every fight, even if you do end up winning, and expect to have a long career.
where is the manny rematch
Nate Diaz will go far in LW - but it isn’t his time just yet. Sure he’s trained with Griffin but Griffin’s moved on to other places - namely Randy’s gym. Tyson Griffin is noooo joke and has been on a tear. He is very fast, scrambles well, and at this point I believe has what it takes to take Nate out of the picture.
BJJ blackbelt or not - if you gas, you are 500% more susceptible to being caught in a submission. If your conditioning is tight, you won’t gas. Tyson Griffin WILL NOT GAS. He’ll take care of Nate like you have to - run him around, gas him out, THEN beat his ass. It’s obvious that once he’s getting pounded he can’t get away. Maybe a beating from Tyson will change the way Nate looks at his game, and set Griffin up for the fights he deserves.
Getting your ass kicked for a round or two and hoping you can hold on long enough to submit a gassed opponent shows great resiliency and toughness (props where it’s due), but is a strategy that will not work with guys like BJ, Kenflo, Sherk and Stevenson running your division.
Joe Silva, set this one up so Nate can get destroyed and rematch Manny. It’s for his own good.
i think diaz can definatly take this one.
I think Diaz hsa pretty decent BJJ, but that should mean most of his fights will end up being standups. He’s either going to run into someone better than him on the ground or someone smart enough to keep it from going to the ground.
I like Diaz, but he needs to learn some better defense.
Just blocking all those shots with his face is not the way to go. A real puncher will finish him if he doesn’t improve in this area
I have no respect for unclassy people like nate diaz to me he is a looser he is a terrible representitive for mma his double fingers were totally disrespectful prior to beating peligrino he is an ediot what his worse is none of the people he has beaten since the show are half as tough as manny gamburayan nate is a punk and I hope he gets put in his place it is understandable that tyson griffen left diaz to train with another camp the diaz bros are ediots
