As a MMA fan like many that enjoy a good standup war, you gotta like Melvin. His standup is great. It just too bad that there’s more to MMA than just boxing/kick boxing. He really needs to be a well rounded fighter with better submission defense if he wants to win more fights.

I absolutely HATE Guillard, he just seems bad for the image of MMA. But, I like him in the UFC if only for the fact that I love to watch him lose. There are a bunch of fighters I’ll watch hoping they will win. I watch Melvin so I can see him lose. Preferably in humiliating fashion. Every sport has its “villains”.

anthony johnson stand up is not that great..its just tommy spears stand up sucks something awful.. it was a bad match up for tommy

melvin is 3 and 3 in the ufc..hes really not as horrible as everyone has made him seem. and as far as the talks about huerta vs guillard.. ill go for melvin on that one[/quote]

Anthony Johnson has great stand up, and a wresting background to help keep him on his feet. He knocked out that Dennis Siver guy in 13 secs and gave clementi a run for his money with a knock down when both of these fights were fights that he took with like a weeks notice. I agree that the match up for Tommy spear was a bad one, but not because his stand up is bad, but because Johnsons is so devastating.
