“As of right now I am still rehabbing a torn labrum I suffered over 20 weeks ago. This time has given me time to reflect in my career and my life in general. I am also trying to get down to 170 and compete at welterweight. This has allowed me to become more dedicated and to lead a more disciplined life style. No drinking and binging will make me a better all around fighter.”
– Contestant on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 4 and long-time UFC middleweight fighter, Pete Sell, tells FightTicker.com that he is mulling a move down to the welterweight class. “Drago” is on a four-fight losing streak inside the Octagon since his upset of Phil Baroni at UFC 51: “Super Saturday” back in 2005. During that span he was involved in one of the most memorable finishes in the history of the promotion, losing to Scott Smith via Hail Mary knockout at the TUF 4 Finale in November 2006. The move would hopefully help the Matt Serra protege get back on track — Sell is a good guy.

1st!! “NICE! DRAGO! NICE!!” - Serra… ahhah. Welcome to ww, give him Lytle.
Sell has the second biggest head in the UFC, first being Rampage.
I like Sell’s style, but the only fight anyone can remember of his was versus Scott Smith. His heavy hands may be needed in WW.
Sell is a great guy, I hope he can turn it around and get back on track.. LongISLAND!
Sell has the second biggest head in the UFC, first being Rampage.
That’s the wierd thing, because usually fighters with big heads have solid chins and can take the most punishment to the dome without going down. Examples - Rampage, Cabbage. and Chris Leben. The exception = Tito Ortiz
Sell is still in favor with the UFC…..tapping Baroni while Baroni was arguing with UFC for money put him in the good graces. Then doing the 2 TV show’s get’s ya pretty chummy as well.
The fight with Smith was enjoyable for the fans (action and drama with a highlight ending) and his loss to Quarry he was putting on a great showing (bloody standup war) before getting caught and he’s pretty much been forgiven for the quick stoppage loss to Quarry that started his slide.
Not sure why he needs to go to 170 because it seems to me the UFC is either ready to toss him an easy one or he could be used against another TUF’er in need of a win…..Kendall Grove or Sakara (who they like for his tats)
Sell can round out a ultimate fght night undercard but has no chance of being on a main card pay per view right now.
Could do a WEC fight and keep friendly with Zuffa
I don’t care…Pete Sell is as worthless as his boyfriend Matt Serra

lol.. who’s the smartest of the big head guys you named? … if you HAD to rank them… i’d have to say Tito..haha
Even when he has healed up from his torn labia, he won’t have an impact on the WW division. WEC might be a sound alternative.
lol at grizzly , sell is a good fighter , but his problem was always his discipline he needs to focus on training and fighting , no going out and actually take ppl down , pound em out and submit em and he could be a force at ww , hell even middleweight , his main prob is his choice to stand , we all know he has no chin after 3 losses by tko/ko
“torn labia” that was funny but pretty stupid if you think about it.
Sell’s problem has never been that he is a bitch. He is just not as skilled. He’s tough and I don’t know how anyone could argue against that even jokingly.
And I agree he should try to get fights to the ground more. I think he’d have more success. Possibly someone told him that standup fighters get paid more than winning fighters?
I don’t care…Pete Sell is as worthless as his boyfriend Matt Serra
I TOTALLY AGREE
Sell would be tough to handle at 170.
LONG ISLAND! Bout effing time. Pete Sell is a great guy and fights his heart out. Thanks to NY and LongIslandGuy! Mikey (x West Islip Lion)
Pete Sell should stick with his night job bouncing at Club Mirage on Long Island. He’s a human highlight real for knockouts in the UFC and he looks like Toad from Super Mario.
He is running scared from Bisping!!!!
From Pete Sell about GSP: “GSP is an awesome athlete,” Sell told fightticker.com. “He has all the tools to dominate, but he is a mental midget. His mentality is very weak.”
I don’t care…Pete Sell is as worthless as his boyfriend Matt Serra
Look don’t be mad cuz he left you for Serra, ok live with it you’re the EX. Be happy for him, he’s dating the Champ.

Lol. this coming from the guy whos too lazy to train properly or keep regular hours and stop partying? I would like to see this retard step in there with GSP and see how mentaly weak he is.
From Pete Sell about GSP: “GSP is an awesome athlete,” Sell told fightticker.com. “He has all the tools to dominate, but he is a mental midget. His mentality is very weak.”
thats dead on
I wonder what you Serra haters are gonna have to say when he beats GSP for the second time?
Kama kaze isn’t a word. To agree with an illiterate from Long Island while not being able to spell the name that you use as your screen moniker is kinda weak, isn’t it?
It’s KAMIKAZE. or…神風
Pete Sell is the Jorge Gurgel of his division. he has a solid ground game, but yet he still decides to stand and bang.
Sell can sure take plenty of shots in the chin before getting kod so him moving down to WW is not a bad idea only a handfull of guys are heavy handed and he would be one of them also might be able to muscle them around who knows i think this is his last shot at high status..

I kinda disagree with you VM Tito took some shots from Chuck before going down in theyre 2nd fight in the 1st round and he recouped pretty good 2nd and 3rd round proceeded to get punished but, ultimately TKO also in their 1st fight he got hit with some crazy ass overhand rights and a solid right hook that didnt face him… I think he has a pretty good chin

lol… oooo personal attack. have some haterade captain… get it out the system.
Pete Sell he has been in some of the most entertaining fights I have seen in the UFC. he is still around. Who gives a shit what the guy says about GSP. Sell is a quality fighter who just needs to learn how to put away his opponents and use his bjj more. A move down to WW probably isnt smart for him since he’s a naturally big guy. I think he should move to the WEC or another promotion, get some fights under his belt and come back, he’s still very young.
I wonder what you Serra haters are gonna have to say when he beats GSP for the second time?
HAHAHAHA I needed a good laugh…GSP is going to send Serra where he needs to be…to the IFC ..Serra faked an injury so he didn’t have to fight Hughes now it backfired and he will have to fight someone twice as tough…And to beat him on the ground…Serra has to take him down and GSP couldn’t be taken down by the best take down guy in the UFC in Matt Hughes…Should be fun seeing Serra get slapped all over the octagon
Serra faked an injury so he didn’t have to fight Hughes now it backfired and he will have to fight someone twice as tough…And to beat him on the ground
I guess you know better than the doctors and xrays serra had taken. Like the ufc or dana would let a guy pull out of a fight for a non injury good one. Serra has no problem if gsp takes him down. That’s where his bjj skills will come into place. And dont think that renzo gracie, gsp’s old bjj coach hasnt told serra some of his sercrets. gsp disrespected serra and renzo was not happy about that. looks to be a good fite

Dude thats messed up…my buddy chucksux and I were just talking about Sell and he said the SAME EXACT THING! He called him Jorge Gurgel because he has no game on the ground and stands up when he shouldn’t..I couldn’t agree more!

GSP won’t be taking that loser down…he won’t need to…first round knock out..Serra disrespected GSP from what I heard and all he did was awake the sleeping giant…Serra is a poser who got lucky and will be back where he belongs after this fight…on the undercard
Pete Sell is the Jorge Gurgel of his division. he has a solid ground game, but yet he still decides to stand and bang.
comparing drago to grugel is just wrong. Its true he’s a bjj black belt and doesn’t use it but he stands and bangs to put on a good fight. His last fite wit quarry he should have just taken to the ground in the 3rd round and won it. He’s more like clay guida if anything b/c sell’s fights are always entertaining even if he does get tko’d. i’d rather see a fighter lose in amazing fashion than win in a boring @$$ way
Am I the only one who thinks Drago would be tough at 170 lbs?
If he can make that cut, he would have some of the heaviest hands in the entire division and he has a ground game, but does not choose to use it.
At 170 lbs, a match up against Chris Lytle or Marcus Davis would make for a very entertaining SlugFest!
I don’t care…Pete Sell is as worthless as his boyfriend Matt Serra
This is the kind of comment you usually hear from a closet case.
I don’t care…Pete Sell is as worthless as his boyfriend Matt Serra
That’s the type of quote coming from someone who doesnt know much about mma and doesnt have respect for real fighters. Is that Mark Lamon saying that?? LOL

o yea… he could definitely be a FACTOR. He hits hard and his ground game is pretty solid. too bad i remembered him most from getting dropped on TUF though… lol at the Gurgel comments which is true, when he gets caught up banging with some1 better than him and doesn’t realize it and keeps going at it. But going by his quote, he realizes that he has a discipline problem ie: drinking, straying from gameplan. Lytle or Davis would be a perfect test to see if he gets KO’d AGAIN then I’d think he’s a douche OR if he taps these guys out, I’d say he matured.

Ok. Your points are well taken. I should have said that Tito is the one of the bunch that likes getting punched in the face the least. Leben and Cabbage actually LIKE it.

Drago might be better at 170 than 185. But lets be serious, he isn’t a threat to the title in either division, headed by GSP and The Spider. However, Sell can still provide for some entertaining fights. But you know what, Pete Sell offered exciting fights and actually won some of them, and he’s out of the UFC. If Drago wasn’t buddies with Serra, I don’t think he’d still be on the UFC roster.
Marcus Davis vs Pete Sell???? Are you F’ing kidding me? I think you been smoking too much today John!!! Besides Jon Fitch, Marcus Davis is the HOTTEST WW right now. So why in the world would the UFC match him up with a dehydrated, on a losing streak, Pete Sell? It makes zero sense. Marcus Davis has proved time and time again that he is, and has been, ready to fight the Top 10 of the WW division.
I think that Pete Sell should drop to WW, but the WW division of the WEC. I don’t think Sell would to to well with a sober and in shape Paulo Filho at MW. Carlos Condit is the WW champ of WEC, but he seems primed and ready to make a run at the UFC after his next fight or two.

I wasnt saying that I expect Drago to fight Marcus Davis. Like you said he is one of the hottest welterweights right now. I was just saying that would make for an entertaining fight.
I only listed Lytle and Davis because they are 2 of the best strikers in the division, along with Alves and when you match up Drago with a striker its usually exciting.
In reality Lytle will be a real option, Davis wouldn’t (unless he looses to Swick, but I doubt that would happen)
Ahh, ok. That makes more sense - my bad John!
I wonder how big of a push Thiago Alves will get after beating Karo? Alvez vs Davis = VERY interesting. I actually think that Davis would only stand for a couple of minutes, and then show off his well roundedness taking the fight to the ground and submitting him.
GSP won’t be taking that loser down…he won’t need to…first round knock out.
Yes you are correct in this assumption, but the only problem with your assumption is that you have the names backwards. It should read
Serra won’t be taking that loser down, he won’t need to, first round knock out
Davis is doing very well for himself, he’s squeezed his way into the top 10, but I think he would get owned by anyone in the big 8 below him, which would, in my view, be: 1. GSP 2. Serra 3. Jon Fitch 4. Matt Hughes 5. Thiago Alves 6. Koscheck 7. Karo 8. Diego Sanchez. I don’t think he could beat Chris Lytle, frankly, and he doesn’t make anyone’s top 10.
DRINKING! PARTYING??? MENTALLY WEAK!
f%$h you pete sell and your s*&t talking about gsp you little s&^t. I hope gsp takes you outside after his fight on april 19 and welcomes you to welterweight you bottom feeder.

It depends on how he cuts the weight. If he keeps his mass he will be pretty good. I agree with VM though Davis has earned top talent. How about Sell vs Anthony Johnson?

maybee, but he looked huge on the serra/hughes tuf. i bet he walks around 200-210lbs. if he could make the cut he would be an enormous ww. it would probably be a good career move though.
Dudes lost his last four. Unless he does something drastic his UFC days are very very limited……

That’s was drago is. the fighter with great heart who has just come up short a few times, but still goes out there and gives it his all!!!
Drago in for another loss?
