nick diazThe talent raid on the upcoming Strikeforce: “Shamrock vs. Cung Le” fight card continues with Nick Diaz being the latest fighter scratched from the March 29 event at the HP Pavillion in San Jose, Calif., according to MMAWeekly.com.

Drew Fickett — who was slated to challenge Diaz’ training partner, Jake Shields, for the 170-pound EliteXC title — will now fill-in and take on Jae Suk Kim. Shields bowed out of his bout with Fickett earlier this week because of a back injury.

There was no reason given for the Diaz withdrawal at this time.

Diaz and Shields join Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos (visa issues) and Joe Riggs (spinal injury) as high profile scratches from the show that will air at 10 p.m. ET on the Showtime premium cable network.

The showdown between Fickett and Kim will be featured during the televised portion of the broadcast.

More bad news for this show … Diaz is quite a draw. However, two titles will still be up for grabs in the Golden State this weekend.

Check out the most recent Strikeforce: “Shamrock vs. Cung Le” card after the jump. Hopefully, there are no more surprises.

Yeah this card gets worse daily it went from 5 fights that I would be happy to see even if they we’re on a ufc maincard.
went from shields and diaz fighting 2 guys I dont care for at all to the 2 guys I don’t care for at all fighting haha, Even Villsenor was fighting a more exciting fight and now he’s fighting a ufc failure, annoying.
I can see Melendez not fighting next jus’ because haha
f*****g ridiculous.

Elite XC sucks ass. Stayed at a hotel that had showtime this weekend and watched some elite XC. I was able to see Kimbo slice fight some douche bag who took a dive in a rigged ass fight. I have NEVER watched a UFC fight and been so pissed after watchign it. This was one of only 2 fights they showed. 2 fights ?!??!? The other was Nick Cry Baby diaz losing in a fight due to doctors stoppage. What a bunch of crap. I hope ELite XC goes under.

LOL. Nick Diaz is overrated. So was Gomi and Gomi was beating Diaz down at the beginning. If you watch the Diaz-Gomi fight, and you have a brain, you’ll notice that Diaz wins not because of his superior skills, but rather due to the fact that Gomi had NO conditioning in the fight, he gasses SOO badly, it’s ridiculous that people don’t take it into consideration. Gomi’s hands stay by his waist towards the end, he makes no attempt to raise them, and he looks like he’s ready to collapse- and then, he does, and Diaz locks up the easy Gogoplata… but wait, that’s not easy to do, right, that’s a very difficult submission against the world’s best fighter right? NO! Get your head out of Diaz’s ass… that pinky comment is gold though- I’ll be laughing for weeks :)

You Diaz fans will remember that KJ Noons won by a cut stoppage, but what you will not remember is how poorly Diaz was doing in the fight. And did anyone see him fight Mike Aina? For ****’s sake, people, get it together!

Can these guys ever manage to get a card to go as they originally set it? Damn things are constantly changing with good fights turning to shit fights. Makes me oh so want to watch it.

Nick Diaz has been pulled from this Saturdays Strikeforce Card. Diaz was reportedly pulled from the card for admitting to being a Cannabis Club Member. Diaz was planning to pass his drug exam on the day of his fight however he had admitted on his state application to haveing previously used marijuana and being a member of the Cannabis Club. Marijuana use is legal in California when prescribed by a doctor. Nick Diaz has a prescription and was told by the doctors recommended directly by the CSAC “We are aware that you tested positive before so if you are a legal user please present your Cannibas Club Card to ensure there will not be problems if you do test positive”

Armando Garcia became aware that Diaz would be submitting legal documentation proving that he had a legal prescription for the use of marijuana and threatened to pull him from the card. Pro-Elite consulted with Daiz and was guaranted that he had indeed not been smoking and was prepared to pass the drug test. Two days later Armando, after reviewing Diaz’s initial application summarily pulled Diaz anyways.

“This is like a cop giving you a ticket for owning a Ferrari eventhough he did not catch you speeding.” – Gary Shaw

When pressed by Sherdog reporter, Josh Gross, Garcia then stated that Diaz had not submitted his medicals in a timely manner and that the Commission did not have ample time to review Diaz’s application and medicals. However Diaz had finished all applications and medicals on March 10th and was actually the first Pro-Elite fighter to have completed all his CSAC requirments.

Elite XC has destroyed what was a pretty solid card (by EliteXC standards of course)!

Good for Diaz, he shouldnt have been fighting the Korean tooth puck anyway!

I was thinking about it last night, and you know what the UFC is missing? Those exciting smaller Chute Box fighters:
luiz Azeredo
Daniel Acacio
Jean Silva
nino “elvis” Shembri

what a joke man, they shouldnt even be testing for weed. the saftey of fighters is a BS reason, cause weed put fyghters saftey at risk. i know some people are gonna say that it slows reaction time and that puts a fighter at risk of getting hurt by a strike. but i dont think anyone lights up before a fight. plus testing positive doesnt mean he smoked just before the fight, cause THC stays in your system long after the high goes away.

this is what happens when your org. doesnt have depth. your top fightrs get injured then they repaced by lesser fighters, kinda makes for a shitty fight card.

I agree it makes the card a lot less appealing, but come on, Shields and Diaz were not going to get into close contests. Both of their fights were set up as freebies. That’s why EliteXC is a joke and UFC isn’t. Shaw even insulted Dana for not being “smart” enough to give his big fighters freebies (e.g. Brock Lesnar). I’m mostly just disappointed because I don’t get the free money I was going to get off of Jake Shields beating Drew Fickett. Jake Shields was 100% to win that fight. The Gilbert Melendez matchup is a joke, and I don’t see how Cung Le is at all prepared to fight Frank Shamrock. Shaw needs to realize that the fans want exciting fights, not a bunch of superstar-can matchups.

First, let me say that this card went from being really solid to really weak, but why in the hell are people complaining about fights that you don’t have to pay $50 for.

Stop acting like you’re owed something. If you want to watch the fights, watch them. If you think every event, every organization and every fighter sucks, go do something else.
