Either Randy is the world’s biggest dumbass (highly unlikely), or he fell victim to some VERY bad advice. Either way, looks like it’s curtains for Captain America.
Sad to see this thing unfold like a greek tradegy…
I think this will put some pressure on Randy to perhaps come back to the UFC. We know that Dana has a little more money behind him than Randy, but if Cuban joins Randy then there might be a fight.
Money money money! This all sucks!! But if BJ Penn and Dana can squash what went on between them (the infamous Charuto fight) then maybe Dana can man up to Randy and just say “i love ya, what will it take to end this and give the fans a show”
ill give Randy a break. he assumed that since he came out of retirement and got a title shot that he gets everything he wants. Poor Randy must be so confused.
As a law student, the conspiracy to damage Zuffa claim not being dismissed is a huge hit against Randy. Of the charges being brought against him, i felt strongly that one would be dropped. It may still be dropped at the time of the verdict, if it doesn’t settle out of court.
Now i love Randy and feel he is a great representative of MMA, but sometimes you gotta know when to fold em. The only way that couture is going to get out of this without it costing him millions is to just finish the last two fights. Fight Nog, and if he beats him( which i highly doubt), go to Dana and ask to just sign Fedor to a one-fight deal(which Dana will most likely void). It would show that Randy is the best heavyweight by legitimately beating the top 2, and UFC would rake in cash by setting up one of the best MMA battles in history.
To me, that makes the most sense. Which of you ladies is with me?

I agree 100 percent john. Whomever is lead counsel to Couture is not properly guiding his client. If there are two things i know 100% it is that 1. The Fertittas know the law( millionaire casino owners are damn near lawyers themselves) and 2. Their money hires MUCH BETTER lawyers than Coutures money.

Can’t watch the video here at work. Just curious though, on what was the motion to dismiss based? It’s typical for claim’s to withstand 2 or more motion’s for dismissal, and they’re almost always based on minor technicalities any able bodied attorney or firm should solve with ease. i.e. These things are typically no big deal.

if the courts let Couture off on this contract dispute, then everybody with a contract is going to think they can break them…..you just can’t break a contract…Couture has to be alot dumber then he looks to have thought this was going to work out in his favor……..Randy is ither going back to fight for the UFC or going to lose alot of money……along with all the respect he once had.
Maybe it’s just me, but I swear the bad blood between Couture and Zuffa is beginning to feel contrived. Could they have staged this whole thing for publicity? Would they be so bold as to abuse the court system for press? No such thing as bad press, right?

I agree with your take with respect to the lawsuit. If Randy was smart - he’d cave.
I happen to be an “insider” on the Couture lawsuit, and I can tell you that Randy has more than a good shot at winning, and he has one of the most successful law firms in the country on his side.

Correction: Billionaire! LOL Randy vs. Billionaire Casino Owner! He’s in over his head.
I’m getting tired of hearing about Randy Couture. I know, I can just ignore the story- but here’s a better outcome through all of this crap- Couture should either grow some balls and fight Nogueira or retire. Then we could all save ourselves from the pain of hearing week in week out whether or not Couture will get the fight that he is so babyishly demanding. That’s right, babyishly- it wasn’t a word until Randy Couture decided to do every thing in his life in that fashion. I’m losing all respect for Couture- you get in the ring, you prove yourself, or you shut the hell up. Couture refuses to do either and he thinks he’s king of MMA when he’s not top 3 HW. Come back to Earth Couture, and act like a GD FIGHTER!!!!
Randy is screwed. I knew this was going to happen after Zuffa clowned him and made him look like a liar over the “money” issue. Someone said earlier that “A man honors a contract.” That is exactly right.
As far as ppl saying Nog would destroy Randy. You must be smoking crack, because Randy would tool Nog. Look at what he did to a much bigger and more game Gabriel Gonzaga.
The co main event for the 1st ever mma on CBS will be:
Phil Baroni vs. Murilo “Ninja” Rua!
True Story!
Hopefully the main event will be Kimbo vs. Aleksander Emelienenko, but at this point thats just wishful thinking!
If thats the case, there goes Kimbo’s win streak

This is no big deal at all. It is a legal formality that happens in every case. If it was not filed, the lawyers leave themselves open to a malpractice suit. If it goes to trial, there will be more motions from both sides to try to get a resolution to the case before there is a verdict. They will also be denied (most likely) and it will also be no big deal. There are certain motions that must be filed to protect the lawyer and this is one. Basically, when the judge hears this motion he looks at everything in Zuffa’s favor and the case will only be dismissed if he says what you are saying is true, Zuffa, and you still have no case. That is all that happened. I’m not saying I think Randy will win, but again, its no big deal.
Read Genooo’s post above mine.
IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL. It happens ALOT, and really doesnt affect the case. All it means is that YES the case is moving forward.
I so hope Randy loses soooo much money on this case…as someone earlier called him “Captain GoldDigger” and I agree totally…I have NO respect for him anymore…he is a selfish, self-centered, and disloyal HAS BEEN…if he thinks Dana needs him he is SADLY mistaken…look old man…why don’t you do us all a favor…retire and spend your twilight years somewhere with that gold digging wife somewhere way far away from the sport of MMA…Randy is done now and I really wish I wouldn’t have to keep reading about Grandpa because he is irrelevant!
Awesome, teach him not to respect his contract and cry like a baby. Someone already said it, I don’t want to scroll up again and find out who, but yeah if Dana and BJ can make up after what BJ pulled and went to K-1, I’m sure somehow it can happen again with Couture.

I mean it is malicous, but not in the court’s eyes’ they’ll see it as a claim that needs it’s day in court
I agree with everyone above saying that Randy should just swallow his pride, and fight Nogueira. That is if he wants to keep fighting for a living. He has had his day in the sun, and it’s a shame he may be going out like this. To think he can win a legal battle with billionaires is ridiculous! Zuffa/Dana White will save face no matter how much it costs. I’m glad there are legally educated people in here to clear up confusion. It makes sense that this would be routine.
I once a long time ago said that this would happen, I gave my legal point of view and some clown here who’s name I forgot, talked sh*t, pretending to be an attorney, Fuck*ng clown. Anyways if Zuffa wants they make CRUSH Randy Couture for Breach of Contract, etc etc I won’t repeat myself, it’s only a matter of time before Randy is at Zuffa’s feet like a slave. Randy Couture has everything to lose and nothing NOTHING to gain, not Mark Cuban, no Gary Shaw NO ONE CAN HELP JUSTIFY A BREACH OF CONTRACT!!!! It’s a LEGAL document! When it expires my ass! He signed a contract with Cuban? don’t get me started with that. Randy will be Dana’s puppet when all the dust settles. Believe it.
Man, I am glad people are starting to see Randy as the chump he is. When this all first broke last fall, everyone was on Randy’s side saying Dana should’ve got Fedor blah blah blah.
I’ve said it since the beginning. This was not about Fedor and it never was. This was about money. Dana gave Randy the world (come out of retirement and fight for the title) and not even a year later, Randy decided he wanted the universe.
No respect and no love for a man who doesn’t honor his commitments: period.
Denial of a motion to dismiss is not indicative of what the final outcome of a case will be. Its usually just a legal manuever and it most often fails. Don’t look too far into this. It is NOT a final judgment.
I love how he thinks that the only fight left for im is Fedor. Like Nog is not his level. That is such a shitty attitude for him to have. I think Nog beats him.
Secondly the motion that was denied…This is what happens when you try to back out of a contract with a multi-million dollar boss…He lost me as a fan the minute he turned his back on us….

But you’re still a student, so research your books a little more.
this might not be as bad as it sounds…we dont know what grounds the motions to dismiss were under yet. I’m a law student, so i have a little experience with this, and there are many different motions to dismiss. He could made a motion based on a number of different claims not based on the actual merits of the case, like jurisdiction or improper process of service, so the dismissal might have only been based on procedural terms, not the actual legality and sufficiency of the claims. Does anyone know where to actually access the complaint and the answer?

Why is it than when an Org breaks a contract with an athlete (i.e. releases him/her), it’s business as usual, but when an athlete quits, he’s in breach?
Wanting out of a contract is a normal process. Just ask any CEO of any Fortune 500 company. Ask them how many contracts they re-negotiate or cancel due to changing market issues?

most of your post, to me, is “a joke”!!
Im not out-right saying Nog would definetly beat Randy, but that IS the most likely senario that would happen if they fought.. Nog is by far NOT a joke…Nog is (imo) the #1 ranked HW of the world…You must not have been following Nog’s career?? Nog has never been finished EVER..He has only lost 4 fights and they were all decisions…
And the funniest part of your post is when you said “Chuck should step-up and ?dominate? Nog”"”
hahahhahahahahah…now thats funny..
If Nog cant take chuck down? he would pull guard.(like he did on sylvia)..and then tap him out quick time….
Dont get me wrong I am a big Chuck fan, but it would be madness to think Nog couldn’t beat chuck…And I mean stand-up, or if it goes to the ground (imo) Nog wins…
Anything can happen in this sport, so I would NEVER count Randy or Chuck out, in a fight with Nog completly. But the realistic prediction would have to go with Nog..Like I said you must not have watched other Nog fights outside of the UFC. Nog was the man in PrideFC(at one point)..And now he is the man in the UFC…To call a two time world champion a “joke” is a joke in it self..
If you knew Nog? you would know that he does not need to get a take you down to win..If he cant take you down he pulls guard(he dont mind fighting off his back)..And Nog’s stand-up is great aswell.
The only part of your post I agree with is’
Randy does need to man up and complete his contract…
Man up and fight Nog….

Maybe it’s just me, but I swear the bad blood between Couture and Zuffa is beginning to feel contrived. Could they have staged this whole thing for publicity? Would they be so bold as to abuse the court system for press? No such thing as bad press, right?
I guess time will tell…
I agree with your take with respect to the lawsuit. If Randy was smart - he’d cave.
I happen to be an “insider” on the Couture lawsuit, and I can tell you that Randy has more than a good shot at winning, and he has one of the most successful law firms in the country on his side.
Me too mang.. We ain’t got no speakers at work
Randy’s a fool and this will cost him all that hard earned $$$.
He really needs to prioritize and think things through.
Money money money! This all sucks!! But if BJ Penn and Dana can squash what went on between them (the infamous Charuto fight) then maybe Dana can man up to Randy and just say “i love ya, what will it take to end this and give the fans a show”
The Fertittas know the law( millionaire casino owners are damn near lawyers themselves) and 2. Their money hires MUCH BETTER lawyers than Coutures money.
Correction: Billionaire! LOL Randy vs. Billionaire Casino Owner! He’s in over his head.

The co main event for the 1st ever mma on CBS will be:
Phil Baroni vs. Murilo “Ninja” Rua!
True Story!
Hopefully the main event will be Kimbo vs. Aleksander Emelienenko, but at this point thats just wishful thinking!

Sad to see this thing unfold like a greek tradegy…
Greco-Roman tradegy
Randy is gonna have to eat it and honor the contract. New years vs Nog. And randy wins that fight.
randy is such a dumbass. haha. btw i have lost all respect i once had for randy.
Also, he needs the Fedor fight more than Fedor.

Randy should just go honor his Zuffa contract and fall each fight after the first punch.
lol take that, randy! that’s wut u get for listenin to yoko.

I agree, I never thought this case would be dismissed, it is somewhat complicated and not malicious in its intent, this is just lawyer/court proceedure

Hahahahahahahahahaha

HAHA, u actually think randy cant beat Nog?? most of your post, to me, is “a joke”!!
