Jonathan Goulet earned his nickname “The Road Warrior” with wins over Jay Hieron, Luke Cummo and most recently The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 6 alum, Paul Georgieff, inside the Octagon.
However, disappointing losses to Josh Koscheck, Dustin Hazelett and others now has him fighting to get another shot in the UFC.
“The Road Warrior” is preparing for his welterweight tilt against Kuniyoshi Hironaka at UFC 83 in his backyard of Montreal, Quebec.
Let’s call a spade a spade -— for all intents and purposes this fight will not affect the top of the UFC’s welterweight division; however, it will definitely provide some fireworks, according to Goulet:
Here’s a snip:
” … I swear it is going to be exciting to watch. My goal is for sure to win that fight but also to force Zuffa to put my fight on TV – I really want to be broadcast.”
Under new management with Ken Pavia and having inked a new four-fight deal with the UFC, Goulet has a renewed sense of making the UFC his home. He’s not looking past his opponent though.
Another snip:
“I really respect him, he fought some good opponent like Thiago Alves, Jon Fitch and Nick Diaz. He did great, he’s a tough opponent that is going to be a hard fight ….”
Jonathan is training as hard as ever and recently spent a month in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, training with the Gracie Barra Team to improve his ground game.
He’s coming off a win in the Octagon and on April 19 he’s going to have a stadium full of fans hoping he comes out with another one.
I had a chance to catch up with Jonathan. Find out his thoughts on his new manager, Ken “I make dreams come true” Pavia, and what he had to say about calling out Mike Swick back in July of 2007.

relates to Bob Goulet?
you a never is, you a never was, you a never will be.
Since there’s no chance in hell this fight gets televised, regardless of the amount of excitement he pinkie-swears it will generate, he might as well come out in a tutu.
He might be the worst fighter ever interviewed by mania! lol
If his fight is aired, it will be because of Hironaka not Goulet!
Lets not forget, “BANG” Ludwig, KO’ed him in 2 seconds.
god this guy is lucky he is only here for the canadian crowd, a new four fight deal?? how many times are they gonna keep this guy. i have heard of having gatekeepers of divisions but now we have certified stepping stones? this guy almost got ko’d by that paul dude from TUF. So in short, i cant effing stand this guy

The only reason I see him getting a 4 fight deal is if there are 4 Canadian events in the future of the UFC. That way he can fill
out 4 Canadian under cards. I wouldn’t mind seeing War Machine THRASH this noodle!!!
it is because of guys like you, who need to buy a life somewhere that i’m getting better and better, bang is a damn good striker, for paul i just got surprise and when i step back, i turned my toes on the fence. it’s just for that i felt, the octagone was smaller than the one they used for every show.
i am working very very hard on all my aspect, i like that sport, this is my job and because off good guys like Ken Pavia and the owner of the UFC that i can work and with that money i can take care of my daughter.
i’m going to win that damn fight and you will probably going to like me. i’m not a punk i’m just a guy who start to hit a punching bag at 20 years old and i’m in the big show because i’m a hard worker.
thank you
Not too many Goulet fans out there huh? I cant blame you guys!
Come on guys give him a break.
Lets call this fight the last chance for mounting anykind of momentum in the UFC.
Who is this Kuniyoshi…
Mania you had to know this thread was going to be a bust.
C’mon guys he’s not that bad. I mean….he tries?
I don’t need to put my two cents in, because it seems Jonathan can handle himself, but this guy is 3-3 in the UFC and has beaten some pretty tough opponents inside and outside the UFC. I seem to remember another Canadian whose record inside the UFC didn’t start out too well and who has now compiled a few decent highlight reel KO’s recently. Cheers all…
Looks like a pissed off roided out version of “EMINEM”
wow…Goulet shut up all the haters with a fight of the night bonus…
lol, all the armchair champions…
cheers all.
