There’s a more detailed video of the main event showdown between UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn and challenger Sean Sherk after the jump. Good stuff.

BJ Penn is so versatile on the ground; I just don’t see how sherk can beat him in a 5 round war with out getting submitted. My money is on Penn Round 2 rear naked choke
Penn. Wandi. Lyoto.
I love that music with the fighter clips.
Off the subject:
Anybody saw ” IronRing ” last night?? Floyd. T.I. Nelly. DipSet. Ludacris. Lil’ Jon..I found entertaining..funny when Floyd said that is waht he wants to do..fight MMA. The New York tryouts were fuuny I knew some of the cats trying out. THe coaches got on my nerves. the Atlanta tryouts got straight to business..fighting. MMA on BET..entertaining to say the least
I’m less than impressed with the “Ill Will” name.
I hope Sherk beats him
BJ penns cool an all, but don’t lkye the way he has to keep throwing jabs at Sherk’s ‘drug’ story
100% back Sherk for being innocent and I’d love to see a G’n'P finish for him
But in sayin that BJ is to the light weights what Anderson is to the Middleweights
Gonna be tought for anyone to beat him

word
If Penn has got his cardio sorted and is ready for 5 rounds of Sherks takedowns he will retain his belt.
No cardio = No Win
Really want to see Old Skool Tito come out, bury Lyoto and give Dana a one finger salute but think Tito will have under estimated Lyoto and get TKO in 2nd Round.
Penn. Wandi. Lyoto.
word, as well
This is a very good card! It would have been much better if they kept the Rashad vs. Tiago fight intact, but its still a high quality event. Hopefully the Machida fight will be exciting, but thats a big if since both Machida and Tito aren’t known for exciting fights. Technically, I enjoy watching Machida fight. His foot work is so technica, he is like a ghost out there, very hard to hit. I will go crazy if Machida tags Tito up and KO’s his over rated ass out of the UFC!
Bj will make quick work of Sherk which will free up TV time for some undercard fights to be aired.

No I had to work. I forgot to tape it…
You liked it??? I looks like it would be funny..With that line-up you cant go wrong..alot of funny dudes.
Thats jokes that you saw some people you know…Did any of them get on(or how ever the show works??)..
I am going to find it somewhere on the net right now and watch it..Thanks for reminding me about it..
Heres how the fight will go:
Round One: tito and machida will come out after a suprisingly calm weigh in, and both be very cautious, machida will start to land flicking jabs and tito will swing and miss for about 2 minutes, machida may even bloody tito up and tito will land nothing, machida will do some sort of spinning kick or flying knee and make tito hurt, tito will take him down after he gets a little hurt on the feet, tito will proceed to push him against the fence and drop elbows for the last two minutes of the round. close round tito will most likely edge the round depending on when he gets the takedown.
Round Two: Machida will come out looking like the Dragon reborn, landing good shots and some flashy strikes and doing damage to tito… for about a minute, then tito will push him against the cage and get a sort of greco hip throw and punish machid from side control for about a min until machida regains guard, then tito will push him up against the fence and drop punches and elbows for the rest of the round.
Round Three: machida will feel beaten and will try to defend the take down more than strike, and tito will land a good right and make machida worry about his hands, then tito will shoot in and do a high altitude slam and yet again drive him against the cage, machida may try to get up but it will be like trying to climb straight up a greasy stripperpole and he will be taken down again and pushed agianst the fence for tito to pound him out for either a Unanimous decision 30-27, or for a late third round TKO.
mark my words, watch it happen.
I like how they straight up said “the two best lightweights in the world.” But yeah, I see this fight being not much different than the Stevenson fight, with Sherk being a little more aggressive.

Sherk is a lot stronger, faster and better standing than Joe Daddy.
Everybody is counting out Sean Sherk, I don’t get it. Sean Sherk is stronger than anybody in that lightweight division, and he can hold you down and “use” ground and pound on you, and you cant do nothing because he is so strong. You never have to question Sherk’s cardio, because he can fight 10 5 minute rounds, can BJ do the same?
I understand that BJ has looked PHENOMINAL in his last two lightweight fights, and he is doing everything right, and he has finally tapped into his full potential. But, with Sean Sherk laying on top of you “using” his ground and pound, it tires out everybody.
A lot of people are forgetting Sean Sherk is very well versed in submission defense. Watch the Nick Diaz vs. Sean Sherk fight for an example, watch some of Sean Sherk’s Pride fights, the dude is no joke. Everybody thinks that Sherk is just going to get steamrolled, not so fast my friends.
Sherk wins via Round 5 ground and pound.

Stagger-Lee: Funny my dude. The Atlanta tryouts they fight to get put down on T.I.’s team.
NY..it’s like a mini boot camp. Striking. grappling. cardio station..the most annouying to coaches who did the first first round back.
You here things like: “I’m looking for the baddest brother”
Fights like a warrior..heart of God…I had chuckle a few times..a hustling non-mma know it all selecting the first round picks..without fighting.
One dude..which I seen him fight at ROC on March 7th at atlantic city..from team Rhino..beefed when he wasn’t picked.. ” I’ll beat anybody here “..which added some spice to the NY tryouts. Next episode he squares up with soem dude..I know of him the guy has a good chin. Cause he fought some tiger Schuls karate guy taht looked like Frank Dukes Blood sport..this guy lost the fight by a decsion but hung in there.
Atlanta: T.I. went doen to business. Fighting. Yager The afro MMA fighter from at L.A at 185..was the only fight you on top of alot of highlights…very entertaining..as we wait for TUF 7.
The Celebs taht had the best MMA outlook on things and if I was there the team I would of wanted to be on.
Nelly. Ludacris. T.I.
Floyd is to much. Go chk it out.
after fat bj loses his title fat bj will be on next seasons celebrity fit club…and for all u people out there who think fat bj could beat gsp please have sum commen sense,,,sean sherk get to the 2nd round and fat bj may have a hear attack
ok bj WILL beat sherk. its easy for bj too train for sherk, but its hard for sherk to find someone like bj to train with. bj has good stand up, awesome take-down defence, crazy flexibility, and world class BJJ. sherk is just a wrestler, however bj HAS to worry about sherk’s power and cardio. but look what happened with lesnar and mir, power isn’t everything. so if bj works his cardio, i think bj will win.
wandi will beat jardine. and if he(wandi) doesn’t beat him it will be because of jardine’s kicks and crazy style. its kind of a win/win for wandi fans. if he wins, then is moves closer to a title shot. if he loses he might move down to 185, and that would be pretty crazy! wandi vs silva for the middleweight title!!
i don’t really like lyoto or tito. i hate the way tito talks soooo much shit right before a fight. and don’t give me that “head games” shit! tito has no class. and i hate watching lyoto’s fight, their soo boring. i think lyoto’s style won’t work against tito. tito will take him down and rape him. as much as i hate to say, i think tito will win this one.

You have to remember that Sherk is a very similar fighter to Matt hughes. Penn dominated matt hughes the 1st fight, and in the second he got injured and lost via stoppage. I believe Penn would have won that fight w/out and injury. BJ penn has phenominal balance and jujitsu, good take down defense, and excellent striking. I will agree with you that sherk has a major advantage in the cardio department, I just believe Penn will finish the fight with in 3 rounds…
I would have to say that is one of the better promos that i have seen in a while. i like the action in it alot!
Penn. Wandi. Lyoto.
Ditto fo rizzo
translated: Yeh, me too
Penn will win. What it comes down to is this: Sherk is the better athlete, but BJ is the better fighter.
Didn’t Tito pull out of that fight?
I’m less than impressed with the “Ill Will” name.
It’s not easy coming up with 83 2- or 3-word phrases that convey some level of animosity and haven’t already been used for a Steven Seagal movie title.
Three fights all involving arguably top ten fighters. wow. i fail to see how any other organization can compete when the ufc can consistently have top 10 talent fighting each other.
what heath herring said about c.kongo works in tihs situation to - if this were a bodybuilding comp. the muscle shark would win - to bad for sherk its a fight not a bodybuilding comp.
but if it does go the distance BJ may lose to LnP not GnP.

these sound like the same reasons why some though hughes would beat gsp. i do agree that sherk is no joke and is the 2nd best lw in the ufc right now bar none. still b.j s standup is better than sherk and joe daddy,s combined. his bjj will overwhelm sherk by the 3rnd. b.j WILL be on top for most of this fight. b.j. is a top p4p fighter in everyones book and the 2 times sherk fought guys in this class( gsp, hughes) he was beaten soundly. good luck w/ this prediction.
I love that music with the fighter clips.
Carl Orff’s O Fortuna for those interested.
I love how through the highlight reel it shows bj beating ppl, knocking ppl out, submitting ppl,
but all it shows sherk doing is taking people down or missing with wild punches.
i also forgot to mention b.j. knees. he kod din thomas w/ a good one and sherk was rocked and looked very suceptable(spelling?) too knee shots against hermes franca in his last fight. sherk could suffer from a little ring rust as well.

OMG and they gave you job on here lol….They should make it a requirement for the job……..Have to be a BJ nuthugger.
I have no doubts that BJ will be in shape for this fight.
Have no doubts about Sherks ability, just no where near BJ’s skills.
BJ a very prolonged RNC round 2 (another Pulver RNC scenario but worse)
BJ will toy with him first….because he can and is that good.
I’m soooooooooo looking forward to this card.
Also, can’t wait to see Thiago destroy Mendes and get the shot he deserves.
BJ = #1 LTWT In The World
Sherk = #2 LTWT In The UFC

WORD! BJ’s compilation reel must be a tuff one to put together, lots to choose from in just the past two years let alone all his older material. Sherk has nearly 40 fights and it just shows him standing there and going for legs, too bad BJ’s takedown defense is the best in the world pretty much, therefore this fight will be Sherk standing around for his intro then a BJ Penn Highlight reel LoL !!!!

I know, Gomi would get subbed round one now. There is such a differencwe between the UFC champions and the rest of their weight class’s its rediculous that every champ has to leave their weight class to find comp but it makes for some rediculously great match ups!!!

WORD!
i hope that BJ stays at 155 for a while and successfully defends his title a few times before he considers moving up to WW for a rematch against StPierre. they both have improved so much since their 1st fight a 2nd fight would be awesome. IMO the new and improved BJ wouldnt lose.

Word! BJ/KenFlo BJ/Huerta BJ/Sherk2 (If sherk wants another piece) THEN BJ/GSP2, BJ/Karo, BJ/Hughes3 BJ/Serra2 etc etc etc
I forgot to mention after all that, BJ/Machida2! With a A.silva fight or two mixed in there. Not me wishing, just whats probably gonna happen seeing the fire lit under BJ’s *ss.

The reason he is counted out. Compare both of their fights with GSP and Hughes. BJ Penn was in all the fights, beat Hughes once was on his way to a second win with Hughes before tearing his muscle or break(forgot what it was). GSP vs. Penn, Penn beat the living hell out of him the first round, and forced GSP to essentially win by lay and pray. Who else has ever made GSP resort to a lay and pray win? I personally feel Penn won but oh well. Then Watch Sherk fight these 2. He is never in any of the fights. Then you take Penns Machida fight. He lost but he did good in a 205 match. MAchida was prob. in that ring at 220# and Penn holds his own. There is noway that Sherk is going to be stronger then GSP, Hughes, or MAchida. Gsp heavy hands did not phase him, even MAchidas heavy hands who knocked out Franklin(up to that point had been Rich FRanklins onlyloss by ko) hardly phased Penn. Pulvers heavy KO hands barely phase Penn. Hughes and GSP wrestling hardly are barely able to contain Penn, but make easy work of sherk. Where is Sherk’s advantage? Cardio? If we get the Penn that came out the last 2 fights no need to worry, hell, I’d be willing to say that the old would make quick work of Sherk let alone an in shape PEnn. Even if his cardio is better how does he avoid the rnc? He will give BJ his back just as everyone else does, hemay fight it off a bit but he will lose because BJ does not give up that position. At best Sherk gets in to the Third but I hope BJ knocks his ass out in the first. If not hopefully he puts him to sleep in the second…
best ufc card ever. BJ!! BJ!! BJ!!
