jess liaudin paul taylor
Welterweights Jess Liaudin (12-9) and Paul Taylor (8-3-1) are booked to scrap on the UFC 85 fight card, which takes place at the O2 Arena in London, England, on June 7, according to a recent MySpace message from “The Joker.”

The 170-pound match up is actually a rematch — the two went toe-to-toe under the Cage Rage banner back in 2003 with Taylor pulling out a decision win.

Here’s a snip from Liaudin:

“On the 7th of June i will be doing my 4th fight in the UFC and will be fighting against Paul Taylor at UFC 85. I fought Paul about 6 years ago and lost a controversial decision (the fight is available on youtube) so it s a rematch. Paul is a well rounded fighter with good cardio, strength and a big heart. This fight is very important for me as my actual record in the UFC is 2-1 so another loss may mean that i can get booted out.”

Liaudin will look to rebound after a first round knockout loss to Marcus Davis at UFC 80: “Rapid Fire” earlier this year. Prior to the defeat he was on a five-fight win streak that included two victories inside the Octagon.

His upcoming opponent, Taylor, also has a loss to Davis on his record — a first round submission via armbar in a sensational fight. He followed up that performance with another loss to Paul Kelly via unanimous decision at UFC 80.

It’s safe to say that this fight is also extremely important to Taylor if he wants to remain a UFC fighter.

UFC 85 features the main even between former light heavyweight champion, Chuck Liddell, and undefeated challenger, Rashad Evans. To check out the remaining UFC 85 card click here.

Should be a good scrap. It seems everytime two of these British fighters get in the cage, it’s always entertaining. Especially when they’re fighting over there.

UFC signed all these Britsh dudes, butthtey had a problem signing some of Fedor’s Red Devil fight teamates? Make no sense to me, except for the fact that the British fighters only appear on British fight cards.

Dare I admit it……..British fighters can only compete with other british fighters at the moment. Hence the hype around Bisping.

Our last british representative….Ian Freeman.

We are just not at the same level………Yet!!!

Paul Taylor almost finished Marcus Davis, and hes um… American… thats competing with someone other than a British fighter right? Anyways this should be an awesome fight between two solid fighters that are coming off losses and one that pretty much has his back against the wall (Taylor)

Ha … how so? 1. It’s incomplete, and 2. Rumored bouts thus far are solid.

Paul Taylor is an excellent striker, he has been super exciting in his last 2 fights I dont understand these fools that are hating on him,if he works on his sprawl or gets alitttle stronger to where ppl cant take him down I see Taylor climbing up the ranks . I think the Joker is gonna add another highlight loss to his resume.

Its funny that after I read the headline that these two will be fighting, the first thing that came to my mind was “That’s going to be a good scrap, hopefully it will be an undercard bout that makes its way to the televised portion”. Then Mania proceeds to use the word “scrap” to describe the fight, and so did about 5 posters. That’s awesome. LOL

I see more potential in Paul Taylor than I do in Jess Liudan, and I find Taylor to be SUPER exciting, so I will of course be rooting for Taylor.

I wonder what the betting lines for this fight will be like? Who would be the favorite? I think the odds would be pretty even with the Joker being the slight favorite. What do you think?

Interesting. I would think taylor would be the favorite but not by much. Either way should be a very exciting fight. This may become the “swing bout” of the event. As exciting as a match up this is, it would never be the swing bout of a Vegas fight card, but since its taking place in England, and Traditionally UFC events in England feature weaker cards, This has a shot of being televised, at least now. If better quality fights start getting booked, then this fight wont be televised.

Either way its a solid match up.

I really hope Davis vs. Swick happens. Has it been confirmed or is it still in the “rumor stage”

John, I’m kinda sorta hoping that Taylor is the dog in this one, since I’d like to drop some coin on him, but wouldn’t do so if he was the favorite. He has yet to win in the UFC and the Joker has a couple of ocatagon wins under his belt.

Slight Advantage in the eyes of the oddsmakers: The Joker
Slight Advantage in the eyes of the hardcore fan: Paul Taylor

He caught Davis, I’ll admit that. But in the end, he got owned on the ground by a boxer. Nuff said.

British have a way to go before we can mix with the elite.

Paul Taylor vs. Jess Liaudin, I hope this happens similiar to the Liaudin vs. Davis match. I want to see Jess talk all of this crap, then just get knocked out like a bitch. I dont like Jess, and I think Paul Taylor needs a win..

Now, if we can get Paul Kelly back into the octagon, I will be a happy man.

I was hoping for the same thing as you. I would love to throw some money on Taylor as a dog. Hopefully everyone bets on the Joker, to swing the odss in our favor.

Upset Special: Joe Lauzon is going to clip Ken flow with something nasty, and TKO him in the 1st round! Creepy Joe, takes another step towards the top with a devestating KO of Ken Flo, Kenny hasnt been Ko’ed in a long time, I think he is due to get caught, Lauzon is the perfect guy to pull off the upset.

This is no knock on kenny, I think he is one of the toughest lightweights in the UFC, I just think Joe has it in him, to pull off an upset.

Kenny hasn’t been knocked out since the TUF 1 Finale against Diego when they fought at 185. Lauzon has the ability to knock him out, but I think Kill-Flo gets better every time out.

PW: I just have a feeling that Lauzon is going to clip him and than jump on him and finish the fight. I also think it will end in the first round.Kenny Florian sit somewhere near the top of the division, and hasn’t been stopped since the Diego fight which was 2 divisions heavier than where he fights now. Kenny will be a very hard task for Joe. Kenny is one of the most improved fighters from all the TUF shows, along with Koschek and Marcus Davis. I really cant provide any concrete evidence to support my claim that Joe is going to catch him and win the. Its just a gut instinct. Creepy Joe is a GAME dude, and he is training with one of the best in the world in Penn. Like Florian, joe is always improving. He is the younger fighter, Kenny has been talking a lot of smack about everyone lately and just have this feeling that he is going to get caught!

If I had to choose an underdog to knock off Florian right now, Creepy Joe would be one of my choices. He started his UFC career by upsetting Jens, who was the 1st ever Lightweight champion in the UFC. This isnt a knock on Kenny, because I am a fan of his and I think he is one of the better fighters in the division, but I just have a feeling that Joe is going to pull it off! Kenny will get caught by a wild hook, fall, and Joe will jump right on him and finish the fight TKO style.

If I had to compare creepy joe to a big time fighther, I would say Joe reminds me of a young, lightweight Dan Henderson.
