Phil Baroni (10-9) and Kala Kolohe Hose (6-1) went toe-to-toe last night for the vacant Icon Sport middleweight title at the Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Hose stopped Baroni in the fifth round via TKO (Strikes) to claim the championship.

“The New York Bad Ass” looked dominant in the opening rounds using a strong wrestling and ground ‘n pound attack to batter the Hawaiian.

However, Baroni ran out of gas heading into round three and was barely able to answer the bell for the fifth. From there Baroni had no answer for anything Hose threw at him and dropped his third fight in his past four matches after succumbing to Hose.

Meanwhile, Hose extends his winning streak to six fights — all of which come by way of (T)KO.

Here are the complete results from last night’s event:

Kala Kolohe Hose defeats Phil Baroni in Round 5 by TKO (Strikes) Jeremy Williams defeats Auggie Padekan in Round 1 by KO
Sadhu Bott defeats Bronson Pieper in Round 1 by Submission (Armbar)
Russell Doane defeats Tyson Nam in Round 1 by TKO (Punches)
Koa Ramos defeats Wayne Perrin in Round 1 by Submission (Rear Naked Choke)
Ross Ebanez defeats Brennan Kamaka in Round 1 by KO
P.J. Dean defeats Eddie Rincon by Unanimous Decision
Matt Comeau defeats Elias Delos Reyes in Round 2 by TKO (Strikes)
Alan Lima defeats David Padilla by Unanimous Decision
Dwayne Haney defeats Zach Rapal in Round 1 by Submission (Guillotine Choke)
Ricky Wallace defeats Brandon Pieper in Round 1 by Submission (Guillotine Choke)
Nui Wheeler defeats Jay Bolos in Round 1 by Submission (Armbar)
Kona Ke defeats Micah Ige in Round 1 by Submission (Rear Naked Choke)

Does anyone know if any links exist so we can see these fights?

Phil Baroni….Gassing??……Nah, would never believe it (Sarcasm).

I think Baroni needs to shed some muscle, drop a weight and build up his cardio if he is serious about becoming a contender.

STrikeForce signed top 10 middleweight fighter Kazuo Misaki to a 2 fight deal that will be exclusive in the USA but will allow him to competing in Japan.

I just checked for the fight video on http://www.myvideofight.com
The Barnoni has yet to be posted, but for anyone that wants to see some of the other fights from DREAM go to the website and on the left side of your screen you will find some additional DREAM fights like the Minowa fight as well as the Ishida fight!

I expect the Baroni fight video to be available on that site later today, or tomorrow at the latest!

Phil Baroni came out like a steroid bat out of hell in the first round and completely dominated Hose, untill the last 2 minutes of the round, and Baroni gassed terrible.

He did not gas out in the 3rd round, he gassed out in the 3rd minute of the 1st round. This fight was awesome to watch because that sack of crap Phil Baroni got beat. I dunno why he is popular, he is 10-9 and he is not that good at all.

To baroni’s credit most of the guys he has gotten beat buy are top level fighters… ie, Matt lindland twice, even tanner twice, Kazuo Misaki, and frank shamrock…

Bottom line if you love him or hate him he is still a entertaning fighter that puts it all on the line every fight win or lose and thats why he is still popular

The New York Fat Ass is a joke. Gassing in the first round of a five rounder. And hose head wasnt much better. Baloni offered no offense and little defense and it still took hoser 4 more rounds to take him out.

Terrible excuse for an mma fight (title fight no less). Wont be watching anything from icon in the future.

Between this and the joke that was cage rage last week, dana must be pissing his pants with glee. If this is the best these outfits can do the ufc will continue to monopolize. And that is bad news for fighters and fans alike.

For whomever asked; all the icon sports events are broadcast live over the internet for free. I think the website was iconsport.tv. It’s thier homepage.

I thought the fights last night were great. Icon’s rules are similar to that of the old pride rules. Its in a ring and they allow kneeing and stomping downed opponents. If you haven’t watched before check it out.

This was the first event to do so. Inside of the arena was set up totally different than how the would do it if it weren’t gonna be shown to a larger audience via the internet. The event was good live, but wasn’t great.

Phil definetly showed that he was stronger and the better fighter in the first 3 minutes. He bashed, smashed and thrashed Hose. Stomps, soccer kicks and takedowns at will.

It was sad to see him completely unprepared for the rest of the fight after those first 3 minutes….especially after fighting so recently against Frank Shamrock? A fight you would have expected him to have take seriously and been in great shape for?

Not sure why Phil trains any technique at this point…..cleary his biggest challenge is cardio at fight pace.

Hose was gassed as well and yes, it was a surprise that he was unable to take Baroni out much sooner.

Not sure what Baroni can do to come back from this…it was a complete failure of preparation, dedication and commitment and many fans will no longer take him serious. His reputation as a guy who asks no quarter and takes no quarter is now no longer.

He clearly was hyping for a paycheck and did not supply the fans their moneys worth as the previous Phil Baroni has done.
