1st…
that was some funny sh*t
Top interview, very funny.
Miller is always the smiler, even when he is getting 10 bells knocked out of him.
This will be a stroll in the park for Penn.
Then he can go back to Hawaiin Airlines LMFAO
SHERK WILL DOMINATE THIS MARSHMELLOW-MAN………
AND AFTER HE TURNS HIS FACE TO DOUGH, HE WILL DEFEND HIS BELT AGAINST FLORIAN……..LMAO AT FATSO PIG-PENN………..ROFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t wait to see BJ in the Octagon again. I hope he knocks Sherk’s head off.
i hope bj is ready to go because sherk is a cardio freak… As long as BJ doesn’t gas…2nd round RNC win for BJ
BJ Penn – Prodigy, legend, BJJ whiz kid, Heavy handed striker, Take down defense know it all, a threat to any man.
Sherk – Muscle’s, wrestler – cardio freak
my loot’s on BJ
i hope bj is ready to go because sherk is a cardio freak… As long as BJ doesn’t gas…2nd round RNC win for BJ
Personally I dont think Sherk can go 10 minutes against Penn without getting caught in a rear naked choke. I am putting at least $500 on BJ Penn because there is no doubt in my mind that BJ will win this match. Last time I was so sure about a fight was GSP vs. Hughes 3 and we all know how that turned out.
I think right now is a great time to be a fan of the UFC. I dont remember the UFC ever being represented by a better group of champions. Having Nogueira, Rampage, Silva, GSP, and BJ Penn as champions is about as great as it gets.
BJ PENN HANDS DOWN MY FAVORITE SCRAPPA AND WE ALL KNOW HES GONNA CRUSH SEAN”THE MUSSLEROID SHARK” SHERK!! BJ PENN PLUS GOOD CARDIO EQUALS A GOOD ASS WHOOPIN FOR SHERK AND ANYBODY ELSE THE UFC PUTS IN FRONT OF HIM AND YES THAT DEFINETLY INCLUDES GSP

Why would you loose 500$? Sherk has the best stand up in the entire light weight division. Not to mention the best BJJ. BJ is a bum, he has slow hands, his BJJ is the worst Ive ever seen. he got lucky in the stevenson fight, he totally lost the first round, then he some how got his back. Waste your money.

i completely agree with u. i will admit i am a certified Penn nuthugger. I dont think there is anyway sherk is gonna lay on BJ for 5 effin rounds. BJ’s technique > sherks roids
NewGuyTheMagnificent
Dude bj got lucky in the fight with stevenson as well as sherk as the best stand up i n the lighweight division r u fucking kidding me.

that vid was fucking funny!!! but bj is totally kicking “the steriods sharks” ass! and i don’t care if it was alleged he is still a cheater! and bj’s BJJ is a hundred times better than sherk’s, and if anyone thinks otherwise their on crack. i was right with the silva and henderson fight, and i’m going to be right about this one. penn wins in the second round by submission, by a triangle choke or arm bar. bank on it folks!!
Wow that was shameless! ha ha one of the best interviews ive seen in a long time

good call automation. im not sure if newguy just started watching MMA yesterday or if hes just delusional.
well I’m rooting for sherk. constantly talking about sherk and roids is below the belt because it invalidates everything sherk has worked for and accomomplished. yeah sherk had a quiestionable postive test for ONE fight but penn makes like sherk has always fought on roids. how humiliating will it be if sherk pins BJ’s chubby body to the matt for 5 straight rounds. This is one lay and pray I want to see.

Ya well, I had some of you going, Sherk best stand up in the division lol…next time KEYSTONE please don’t ruin it, it makes it fun sometimes.
BJ is awesome. I love Sean Sherks work ethic and physical conditioning, but, he’s going to get whooped by an MMA fighter. Lay-n-pray and Conditioning will only get you so far. Sherks obviously got some talent to be where he’s at, but BJ is one of those guys that can just bring more of everything to a fight.

I don’t even have to watch the video to know that BJ is spewing more of his arrogant garbage for you BJ pigeons to peck off the ground. Shut up BJ. Shut your damn mouth.
BJ Penn should win, BUT
wouldnt it be hilarious if Sherk beats Penn by KO
Everything BJ says is bad for the sport of MMA. He’s an embarassment, and it’s disgusting the way people kiss his ass (what an understatement). If you’re only here to say positive things about everyone, then your opinion is meaningless. I’m glad the world doesn’t work the way these MMA sites do, then we could never talk about politics by criticizing anyone or anything, cause then we would be “trolling”… What a loaded term- if there is anything wrong with trolling, it is insults without ANY rationale behind them. If I say BJ sucks his own nuts for pleasure I am trolling. If I say he is arrogant and that he is overrated, or that I disagree with his comments or comments made in his defense, I am contributing to the conversation, and I don’t see it as trolling at all. If you can’t criticize anyone or anything, then why the hell are we here, and why is there so much damn criticism everywhere? I’m tired of people crying about trolls, they’re the ones whose messages annoy me the most.

How does everyone fail to see how disrespectful BJ is being- to Sherk and to MMA in general. But seriously I’m picking sherk to win this fight, His skills arn’t on the same level as BJ pens, but I had the opportunity to meet him in person, nicest man I have ever met. He just got his belt taken away, no one is giving him a chance in hell – just fuel for the fire. I predict some of the worst elbows ever. Sherk tko in the third
I have decide the make an effort to no longer respond to comments made by complete fools. Thats all I got to say.
Thats was some funny s*it! They need to give Miller his own show.
I don’t know about you guys but I have a feeling that this fight won’t make it past the 5th round….
watch hughes vs sherk.
what hughe’s did to sherk’s wrestling.
watch what penn did to hughes’ wrestling.
also, sherk is an easier fighter to train for than bj penn. how can you get the bj penn package in one fighter? iron chin, technical ‘brawling’ as lauzon put it, unbelievable flexibility and strength, and world class bjj.
“Why would you loose 500$? Sherk has the best stand up in the entire light weight division. Not to mention the best BJJ. You obviously are the new guy to the fight game and not very magnificent with your knowledge. Go back to your wwe chat room and spread your misinformation there to people how don’t know their facts! Sorry to be so harsh guy but you were way off.
its funny how all u guys are SOO sure penns got this one in the bag. DONT COUNT OUT SHERK ROIDS OR NO ROIDS hes a BEAST. I see this fight going the distance and Sherk with the decision.
Mahem’s a circus. That was a hilarious interview. I’m glad Penn got some wrestler guys to help him prepare for the dryhumping
I see Sherk winning in round 2 by tko
I see Penn as the favorite, but Sherk is a very good test, and he really should be considered the defending champion. If I was setting the lines, I’d put Penn at around -180. Sherk is the better wrestler, but BJ will be dangerous on the feet, on his back, and especially dangerous on top. Sherk looks good only from the top position, and he’s still not nearly safe. If I was Sherk I’d keep taking BJ down, drop some punches and elbows, then get up and do it again. It really sucks getting slammed to the mat, to get someone’s weight put on you, take a couple shots, and not have enough time to look for a submission or try to reverse position. The problem is, Sherk has a habit of laying on people, and like I said, he’s at a disadvantage almost everywhere the fight goes. With the right gameplan Sherk will win- I just don’t know if he has the right gameplan or not.
My prediction: The fight will be decided by Sherk’s gameplan, not BJ’s. Sherk has to fight a SMART fight.

I have respect for Sherk he is good fighter but I really don’t think he can hang in there with BJ.
I BJ winning in the second round via submission.
My favorite thing about this fight is the two best guys in the division are fighting for the belt, and that how it should be in all the divisions.
Take note UFC don’t put fighters that are popular and good for marketing or for other reason put the best against the best for the belt.

Your joking with that one. WHile BJ is versatile and can fight up to LHW, his natural weight class is still 170. His most impressive performances are still from 170, but he looked really good at 155.
As far as beating Anderson, I don’t even want to go into that discussion. Besides maybe Filho (a clean one) Lindland or Kang, nobody else in the divison would even stand a chance.

Im not betting on this fight. Penn is the more dominant one but can be beaten. Sherk is less dominant and is one of the hardest guys in the UFC to beat. It can be done, but he sometimes just ends up being too much muscle to do what you want to him. It could go either way.
Bj penn is the most talented fighter in the ufc, bar none but talent alone isn’t enough to win ex hughes/penn 2, gsp/penn, hughes and gsp have endurance and strength on penn. Sometimes s**t happens the reason this sport is so exciting there are no locks, no one is guaranteed to win, sherk might win but I would say penn has the advantage. The only way I could see sherk winning is by a very close decision, taking advantage of a tired penn in the later rounds and holding him down. Sherk is a tough son of a gun and will put up one hell of a fight, you can count on that, he’ll come after penn with something to prove, kinda like how serra and penn came after gsp in the first round. I would put the odds at 60/40 in favor of penn which is hardly a guarantee he’ll win, just more likely, but I won’t be surprised if sherk gets a split decision.
How does everyone fail to see how disrespectful BJ is being- to Sherk and to MMA in general. Sherk disrespected the sport and BJ is stoked to be the first to get a crack at him for doing so. For all of us fans that love an untainted pure sport, you know mano y mano, and for any other fighter whos dreams Sherk might have stolen before Hermes if had ever juiced before which by looking at him id say so. Sherk= The so called “Cardio Freak” was Totally dominated and manhandled by GSP.
Penn= Probably should have been in better shape(and now able to admit that) lost a close Split Decision. If it weren’t for a few takdowns in Round 3, Penn would have won that fight.
If anyone is able to watch the UFC 58 DVD, please do so. They interview GSP in the locker room and he looks completely messed up. He even says that if every one of his UFC fights was how it was like with Penn, he will have a short career.
Lastly, I’m in no way making up excuses for BJ. GSP is a phenomenol fighter, but I feel BJ can and will beat him in a future fight. Both fighters are world class athletes. It’s disturbing to see people on this thread saying Sherk will manhandle Penn when he couldn’t even last with GSP. Isn’t it?
Whatever for all you Penn haters out there, thanks for thinking BJ Penn sucks, thanks for coming and whining about bj all day (im a golden state warriors fan, i dont go around all day to the knicks or the clippers, or the lakers and talk bad about their ball clubs, i just go to the warriors website and look at the team i like and enjoy) I guess what trying to say is why dont you guys go fing a sherk thread (cuz they are as boring as his fights) and since their arent any on here bounce from this “penn nuthugger” filled site and go enjoy that always badd *ss Sean the muscle shark sherk. Adam G: U make some great points. BJ was not KO by Hughes. He was stuck in a position that he couldnt get out of, he had suffered a broken rib and Hughes pounded on him repreatedly and it didnt look like it was bothering Penn at all. BJ has one of the greatest chins out of all the lightweight fighters in the world and Sherk, even in dominating performances has not shown the ability to finish a fight. He pounded on Kenny Folian for 25 minutes straight and he didnt come close to TKO ing Florian. BJ is a much tougher guy than Florian. I really dont see any way BJ can loose this fight.
Penn and Sherk have a few common opponents. They both faced both Hughes and GSP.
Sherk hung in there with Hughes, although reports surfaced that Hughes only trained 2 weeks for that fight. Regardless, I believe Sherk won 2 rounds.
On the other hand, BJ won every single round he ever fought against hughes until he broke his rib in the 2nd fight.
As for Sherk vs. GSP… Not even close. GSP gave sherk the beating of his life, ultimately finishing the fight.
BJ vs. GSP was as even of a fight as we see between 2 top fighters. That fight could have went either way and as much as I like GSP, arguments can be made that Penn should have won the fight. Either way it was really close, unlike GSP vs. Sherk which was a blow out!
Sherk is going to get submitted, no later than the 3rd round. There are a handful of fighters that are on a different level than there competition. BJ Penn is one of those fighters. As skilled as Sherk is, BJ Penn is on another planet when it comes to skills. Sherk cant win this fight because he cant finish Penn. with that said, I dont see anyone lasting 25 minutes against penn on the ground, so I dont see any way Penn can loose this fight.
How great is it to have a real lightweight champion? Sherk was defending his title once a year. BJ won the belt in January and will be defending it 4 months later, in May against Sherk. As for sherk, Good Riddance. This guy did nothing with his title, he barely put it on the line. He held up the title longer than champions who are coaching the TUF show. He was a terrible champion and he disgraced himself and the title by juicing.
Sherk would be a more effective fighter in Japan, where he could use his wrestling to control a guy and then rain down knees to the head. Knees to the head of a grounded opponent is his only chance of finishing a fight. Under UFC rules, Sherk wont be finishing many fights.
I love Kenny Florian as a fighter, but he isnt one of the tougher guys fighting at 155 lb. Sherk pounded on him relentlessly for 25 minutes and couldnt come close to finishing Kenny. I think Kenny isnt tough enough to withstand that kind of assault for 25 minutes against many other light weight fighters. for instance I dont think Kenny could last 25 minutes of ground in pound from Lauzon, Edgar, Huerta….but he ate everything Sherk threw at him. What is really disapointing about Sherk is that he the one of the best 155 lb wrestlers in all of mma. He has the ability to control 95% of fighters he faces on the ground. Additionally he has some of the best guard passing in the entire division which allows him to get to positions that are really advantageous for finishing an opponent by G n P. with all that, Sherk still cant finish a fight.
Penn’s felxability will allow him to take Sherks back at some point, and once he gets Sherks back he will trap one of his arms with his legs, which will allow him to rear naked choke sherk until he looks as purple as Barney. I dont guarentee to many fights in mma, but I will guarentee that Penn beats Sherk!

Isn’t it?
At the same time BJ was in his locker room saying “That was good, that was a good fight” to himself. Go to you tube and look at the video interview of GSP the next morning after the Penn fight, he looks busted up. Just like Jans, Stevenson, (Hughes looked messed up after the second fight as well) Dude looks thankful to be alive.
All you Penn “nuthuggers” out there peep out BJ’s revamped website, same dope stuff but a bit easier to delve through. All the training videos and MyGymShow’s are right there opening page status, DOPE moves on display in the advanced videos from BJ (Arm bar defense to Plata to Mount to Triangle choke from the top! In seconds!) The only thing i cant find are the videos of Penn at the gym randomly, nutrition tip, the ones where they just follow him arround in everyday life at the weigh ins, press conferences, beating Joe, goin to the volcano, Joe lauzon there, etc. If you find these let me know if you find these please.

interesting tidbit of info (completely non-biased) sherk has a higher percentage of wins by submission than bj does, (slightly biased) sherk is very good at passing guard and half-guard and getting into side control, we saw it against hermes franca, mind you bj is better than franca, but still hermes is extremely good on the ground, (more biased) sherk has very strong arms, very strong and has won fights by arm triangle before, bj has a small neck, i can see sherk submitting him with an arm-triangle after transitioning from half-guard. (its a cool set up if you know what i mean while in half-guard you have the crook of your elbow under his neck (opposite arm as your leg that’s trapped) you lean across his body posture up, use the exact same escape from half-guard as he used against hermes (use your leg to pry his legs open) then slip to the otherside and use your free arm to lock the arm-triangle as you already have your other arm in the right position under his neck)

I want to here everyone on a question you asked on a previous thread. Who (in terms of MMA) is stronger at his strength, BJ Penn at BJJ or Anderson Silva at striking? That was a good question but I think a lot of people missed it.

That’s the only way (if any) Sherk will be able to beat Penn. I really cannot stand Sherk, but put aside the steroid controversy, and Sherk is a good fighter and fights to his strengths even if it means being in guard or side control for the entire fight. But to be honest, I don’t see anyway for Sherk to beat Penn. Sherk won’t be able to KO him, and for sure won’t be able to submit him. With Penn’s current attitude and him taking his training seriously, he is just too good of a fighter. Penn has one of the most underated striking abilities in the UFC, because his uncanny BJJ skills overshadow his great striking. Let’s not forget that Rudy Valentino(Penn’s striking coach) once cornered Sean Sherk in a fight in Kona, Hawaii a few years back. I think Rudy has an idea of what Sherk will bring and will be able to help Penn use it to his advantage. All in all the fight will be great and I can’t wait for it..

The thing is ,I don’t think BJ can take Sherk down like GSP did. GSP is a better wrestler then Sherk, Penn isn’t. Sherk has a head of stone and I don’t think anyone is going to KO him standing. BJ has to sub Sherk (something no one has acomplished), and he has to do it fast. BJ was breathing hard after 2 rounds with Joe, Sherk will wear him down much faster. BJ fans seem to forget he lost his last 2 fights to strong, cardio freak wrestlers, which Sherk is also. It’s not out of the question to believe Sherk will win. I personaly think it’s the smart bet. I hope BJ does win though, so GSP can beat him more convincingly this time (the eye poke fucked him up right at the start of the fight). GSP will be the 2nd guy to finish Penn. I wonder who Hughes would put his money on. He knows the skill of these fighters first hand, better than any of us keyboard warriors.

Why does BJ Penn throw those insults out there? is that really necessary? BJ Penn is a punk in my opinion. There both amazing, I can’t decide, penn is a wizard on the ground and silva is a wizard on his feet. Penn has good hands, very good in the pocket, like serra but better and I think his “MMA” bjj is better than serra’s. Credentials mean squat if you can’t translate it into an MMA fight. I know most will scoff at this but I actually think gsp uses his bjj more effectively in a MMA fight than serra mainly because he can gain a superior position so easily and is super strong. Royce gracie is a far more accomplished bjj fighter than hughes but look at what happened in there fight. Sometimes superior positioning and raw strength go a long way, hughes has relied on these things for years but Gsp completely exposed him, he looked like a fish out of the water, I know serra is much more comfortable on his back than hughes is and I think he’ll but up a better fight but I feel he suffer the same fate. This isn’t a bjj tournament its a MMA fight and Gsp is a master at combining the different styles and will be very tough to beat come april 19.

Too many people are chalking this one up for Penn. It would not suprise me one bit if Sherk walked away with it.
If he can avoid/power out of the submissions and take it into the latter rounds he has got a good chance.

Ive liked his skills since he faught Din Thomas. Thats when i started to follow his career. When he came back to the ufc i was stoked!! I could see him fight regularly and not search all over the internet for DVDs (The Renzo fight was the tuffest to get) and at the time all of them (Gomi/Machida/Rodrigo/Renzo) were hella hard to find. Now hes blown up, its crazy!!! Fat website, new belt anf foes to slay, i love it. Getting GSP 2 out of 3 will be the story of BJ’s career, like Ali/Frazier. Im stoked that he has woken up and i like all the new fans but if he losses a fight they’ll all bounce and i dont like that at all. Fairweather fans suck!!!

I regard all the opinions of the people i named in my other post as good knowledge and compelling to argue or agree with. ANd to add to why BJ isnt Franca, BJ has more in his stand up bag than a couple of knees and francas BJJ might as well be Sherks BJJ when you’re comparing it to Penns.

Well the story is that Valentino cornered Sherk in a fight in Kona a few years back. It’s an advantage for BJ because Rudy has a bit more understanding of what Sherk’s strength and weaknesses are, and having that info I believe is better than watching film on previous fighgts. After Sherk won that fight, the locals in Kona wanted to mob Sherk after he left the ring, but Rudy took care of everything and protected Sherk. That being said, these guys have some history and hopefully it will give Penn an advantage.
Thats right, he literaly cornered him for a fight huh, i thought you were saying Rudy got sherk into a corner and faught him in Kona LoL. I remember now, he defended Sherk to the locals after that W of a local in Kona. In the form of BJ Penn (courtesy of Rudy Valentino) Hawaii gets it revenge!! Sherk should have faught that goup of locals, he has a better chance of beating them and squashing the beef than he does at winning a caged fight with BJ. Make a lesson out of him, Cheaters should have their arms broken like the dreams they may have broken for other fighters while they were cheating to beat them (Diaz, Kenflo, Franca-cheated to but for an injury and just to fight or show, sherk cheated to win. To name a couple).
