If you go and search Gary Shaw and mixed martial arts (on the Internet), this guy was saying five years ago that mixed martial arts was a joke. (He said) it’s not a real sport, these guys are barroom brawlers. Now that fat, bloated (expletive) is running around acting like he loves mixed martial arts…. “Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, this is what we do. It’s all we do. It’s all we (expletive) care about. You can’t say that about these other organizations. These guys aren’t promoters. They see an opportunity and they’re trying to get their little slice of the big piece of cheese.”
– Yesterday it was the Orange County Register. Today its the the Boston Herald. UFC President Dana White this time takes specific aim at EliteXC Live Events President, Gary Shaw, as well as clarifies his stance on HDNet Fights’ Mark Cuban. Enjoy you (expletive) maniacs!

I agree! With dana, he’s got a long term plan, and I thinks a lot of other organisations are just jumping on the band wagon.
no really who say that fighting fedor crap lol
I like Dana White… I think he does a good job with the UFC, I believe an organization like the UFC needs a guy like Dana to keep everyone in line, someone whos not afraid to lay down the law, someone whos not gonna pussy foot around the major issues that plague most companies. And, of course, hes not afraid to say whats on his mind lol!
i sure like me sume cheese
i agree with dana..he knows what hes talking about
i can tell dana truly loves this sport. but he should watch is language. i’d like to see mma become bigger than any sport, but you cant have your president swearing every other word - he looks like a buffoon.
There have been a lot of negative things said about Dana (especially on the Sherdog forums), but in all honesty he is a shrewd business man. He and the Casino brothers have brought MMA into the limelight and made it mainstream, massive respect for doing so…
Dana is (expletive) hilarious. Way to gain some (expletive) respect. Especially for the younger (expletive) fans. And what there (expletive) parents think of Dana. You think he would drop the language and try to get some (expletive) kids and there parents on his side. And get them enrolled in such a competitive sport. Kids want to be in MMA because of the UFC now, yea Dana your good at promoting the UFC and did wonders for it in the last decade. Keep this (expletive) up and see how much respect you get from any fans. Most are already against you.
I think Fedor should go beat up Dana.
Dana should watch what he says about jumping on bandwagons. It was the fertida brothers that said MMA isn’t getting big it is the UFC that is getting big. They don’t care about the fight world they only care about their company being the best. I think that is pretty obvious in some of the fight choices and the money that is not paid to deserving fighters.
The only difference between Dana and trailer park trash is that he has the brothers with some coin backing him. If he did not have that he would be sitting at Deny’s with Shaw paying the tab.
How many CEO’s or Presidents of multi-million dollar companies do we see use such unprofessional language? I think it is funny each time Dana goes off as he is just making him self look like an ass. Sure they got a big advertising contract with Bud Light but I am sure they cringe every time he drops is F-Bombs.

Put Fedor, Couture, Dana and a big piece of Cheese in the Octagon. Winner takes the Cheese.

That’s just (expletive) perfect.
Dana White is the man.
Man all this hatred for a guy who brought the UFC back from it’s certain death. No one absolutely NO ONE wanted to even touch the UFC back then let alone invest in it. It was in extremely bad shape and about to go under when Dana got a hold of it. Was a risky investment but the Fertitta’s believed in him and backed it. Dana’s vision and determination along with their cash and skilled fighters is what we should be thankful for, otherwise this very site probably wouldn’t exist. Hate the guy if ya want cause he can be pretty abrassive or you feel he’s a no-nonsense jackass only out for $$$, don’t have to like White but you do need to respect what he has done in making the UFC a premier organization and MMA in general. I kinda like the dude, he doesn’t hold back and is his own man, his press conferences are always at the very least entertaining… and isn’t that what “press” is all about? Good or bad it’s all about getting attention and peeking interests abroad, love him or hate him he sure does that much. Dana drop those F bomb’s all day, MMA isn’t for pansy’s who get offended by (expletives) Go watch some thrilling golf or tennis if ya want proper manners.

Dana has done some pretty bad things lately, like letting certain fighters slip through his fingers for instance, or putting Rashad against Liddell. But he has made the sport and the UFC what it is today.

Couldn’t of put it any better. I agreee with the Fertitta’s assessment that it is mainly the UFC that is growing and not MMA per se. You know that the CBS deal is a loser when even Bob Arum takes a pass when boxing is truly desperate for attention. Shaw is just jealous of the Fertitta’s (and Dana’s) success. EliteXC is bleeding money and probably won’t even be around in six months. Cuban on the other hand has potential. This article is nothing different than what White has been saying all along.
Dana White and the Fertitta brothers are the best thing to happen to MMA. Because of their keen business sense they turned a flop company in UFC into the largest fight company in the world. If it wasn’t for Dana White, Gary Shaw wouldn’t exist. He’s a lost casualty of the Boxing world going where the money is. A real piece of trash.
I hope Dana White continues to run the UFC for years into the future. He knows what he’s doing, he’s proven that. The pay will steadily increase for the fighters to compete with these other companies and UFC will thrive on.
Thanks Dana.

Dana: He’d get (expletive) lost looking for me.
Sure Dana’s done great things for the UFC and as a consequence the sport of MMA has grown in the U.S., but that’s not enough for him to earn my continued praise. Matt Lindland, Josh Barnett, Fedor, etc.; when I see those fighters in the UFC or when I see contracts that allow UFC fighters to fight in other org.’s and when i STOP seeing titles put on hold and soap-opera drama I will say that yes, Dana is STILL doing a good job at something other than making money. Until then, saying “I love Dana because he helped the Fertita’s exploit their business investment”* is to me a bit silly. Even sillier is saying “Dana does a great job making money. I support him.” What silly, masochistic rationale. Starbucks makes $$$ out the ass, but I hate their coffee. Should I support them today only because they’ve made espresso available on every third street? Should I support them because they’ve given Dunkin Donuts the ability to cash in on coffee craze? What kinda of silly reasoning is that? You’re fans, not marketing peons, please adjust your priorities accordingly.
*after all, this is what most of you are saying
This country’s success has always been about someone taking a huge risk at something they are passionate about. Love him or hate him, Dana is largely responsible for MMA’s popularity today.
Also, regarding Dana’s mouth. I’m a parent of two middle school boys, a Christian and a huge MMA fan. Honestly, I think the pay per view events are kept pretty sterile as far as language and even the “sex” factor. They could have gone the mindless way of the WWE, they did’nt. I tivo the shows on spike so my boys can watch it without all the stuff in between. By the way my boys dont read Dana’s press clipings but i’m not crying over it either.
Gary shaw doesent know what hes doing…..hhmmmmmm.this is coming from a former aerobics instructer…dana your starting to lose your edge too so i might have to take that bet.

Good point, however, if you like coffee and you gotta have a cup of coffee, your first choice will presumably still be the place that serves the best cup of coffee in town. (not Starbucks IMOP) The free market allows these other guys like Shaw to try to beat Dana at his own game. Either way, the fans will be better off due to the competition, but Unless I’m missing something, right now the UFC is still the best cup of coffee in town.

Rofl…
MMA isnt much different from boxing in the sense that promoters are businessman. Even though Dana can be a huge rectal douche, he still does a very good job managing the company under him, aside from the occasional raft of (expletive.)
Dana is the (expletive) (expletive)!
wow dayton you managed to name 3 fighters that the ufc passed up…..and forgot to mention the slew of others that the ufc has gotten a hold of……apparently to you one or two failures in obtaining a couple fighters means failure in your eyes but then again dana white is specifically trying to please you now is he?….i havent the slightest idea why you would post something negative when you had a small compliment of weak points to prove your redundant remarks and or accusations at dana being none other than a man whos just out for the cash.
to summarize what i interpreted you saying was that ” dana/ufc sucks cause they couldnt get some over rated fighters/ and that theyre a$$ holes for expanding Ufc to meet ever growing demands to increase the popularity of the mma sport”.
so in short dayton … you should probably stop watching Ufc events if you dont respect them.
Yeah he really needs to work on getting the rest of the top fighters in the world. The LW’s don’t matter as much, there’s hundreds of exciting lightweights out there. But people like Lindland, Frank Shamrock, and the list goes on, should be in the UFC.
Dana really spits it out there, wether you agree with him or not, you gotta love it.
lol. its kind of ironic that some of the people that watch these fights are perfectly ok with the blood and violence but are sooooo sensitive to cuss words… just a word. can someone explain this?

Dana (expletive)knows MMA, if you know a little of Dana’s history you know that he was a boxer promoter, he tried to be a boxer but he knew he didn’t have it, then he learn BJJ, that’s where he met Chuck Liddell, and from there he’s the biggest MMA fan in the world. So I really think he is right, Gary Shaw doesn’t know MMA, he knows business and he wants a piece of it.

Agreed. I WANT the UFC to be huge, but dana has to clean his mouth. If he wants this to be bigger than just a SpikeTV sport for “20 somethins” than he has to watch his language. If you want to appeal to the younger crowd, and get respect from the older crowd, you have to clean your mouth.
None of the other presidents of the other major sports talk the way he does. If you want to be respected and looked upon as a real businessman, u should speak like an educated person, who can express himself without using vulgar language.
Im no saint, just my opinion.
Fedor said one of the reasons he didnt sign is because Dana referred to his agents as “crazy russians”.
Heres your UFC president ladies and gentlemen! What a great way to make a great impression for others. Never mind he helped make UFC a great organization but to have your president talk like he is is a disgrace. He could easily make accusations of Gary Shaw by not (expletive) swearing. What a class act!
I’m sure Fedor’s agents have referred to others in MMA with terms just as endearing as Dana’s… only in Russian.
Regarding who will be around, we’ll see. White certainly has a point, even though his style s so in-your-face.
He’s right about Shaw. Not that Shaw can’t change his mind. But it is worth mentioning. They hate it till they envisage green in their pockets.
The problem is that Gary Shaw and Mark Cuban are spending FAR, FAR more than they are bringing in. This is a lesson Bodog FIGHT learned the hard way. You cannot “build it and they will come” with MMA. You absolutely must have a good product. Why? Because the shelf life of an MMA organization can be as short as a single event. No profit, no future.
I think Dana should K.O. Fedor so the Dana haters will shut the (expletive) up!
Fedor said one of the reasons he didnt sign is because Dana referred to his agents as “crazy russians”.
isnt the reason fedor wants to leave m1 is because his management doesnt get along w/ m1? maybee fedor nedds to be a little less sensitive. i do think dana should retract his statement about fedor not being in the top 5. maybee if fedor and the fertittas where to meet alone in person, the deal could get done. i still would like to see an in-depth interview w/ fedor w/ an unbiased american reporter, like caplan, iole, meltzer or even better Mania!
Dana needs to stope being so petty and grow up. As the president of a compnay u dont call your rival president a fat (expletive) just becasue he got the deal u couldnt.
I really appreciate everything hes done for the sport and i used to love him.
but lately hes been out of control. he needs to check his ego before he ruins the sport.
Fedor (dana is acting like a five year old, if he wont sign with us he sucks is what hes saying, real mature.)
Cotoure (hes obviously too thick headed to realize that cotoure WILL NOT fihgt in the UFC again, dana assumes hell be back)
Shamrock
Lindland (flat out rejected him, dumb move)
Ortiz (speaks for itself)
CBS/HBO (ruined that by not giving up creative control, now
EXC has it, good for them)
Barnett
possibly Arlovski (that whole situation was BS on Danas part)
all of these fighters are top tens in their respective wegith classes, all of them are not with the organization because of Dana. He comes off as disrespectful. As a business man there are ethics you need operate by and he does not do that. In order to move foward he needs to respect his comptetition

I completely agree! I am 25 years old, and I have a very foul mouth, but hearing the president of the company I love, speak such unprofessionally, it disgusts me. Maybe talking like that appealed to the younger crowd and helped the UFC gain popularity back in the TUF 1 days, but now in order to take the UFC to th next level Dana needs to:
A) Check his ego at the door
B) Learn to talk like a professional CEO of a billion dollar company
C) Enough with his petty personal fueds with certain fighters. Grow the hell up and sign all the best fighters in the world.
There is no excuse what so ever for top 10 fighters like Lindland and Barnett, who really want to be in the UFC, getting flat out rejected by Dana for his petty personal reasons!
Why do we have to suffer because of Dana’s personal fueds with fighters!
SHAW: Great post…I completely agree!
For those of you saying Dana shouldn’t have let the deal with CBS slip by him, it’s not like that. I’m pretty sure CBS straight up owns EliteXC now, they bought it. So obviously Dana didn’t take the same “deal” that EliteXC did, they’re not about to seel the UFC after it’s done so much in the past few years.
I am not all that mad about the UFC missing out on the CBS deal. I would prefer to see them sign a deal with FOX then CBS anyday!
So gary shaw lies to make money, isnt that what you do as well DANA??
ISNT THAT WHAT THE FERTITTAS DID INITIALLY AS WELL, to make money right???? If i am not mistaken, the fertittas didnt get in this business for the love of the sport did they??? NO, its just to get the big cheese like you claim gary shaw is after! (you are not very bright BTW dana, coming out to talk smack on gary when everyone knows you 2 are one in the same) At least gary isnt disrespecting his fighters like YOU DO! The fertittas are billionares because of other endeavors, not just the UFC!!!!!!
And if you truly care like you are stating, then why is it that u still manage to pay even your big fight stars sometimes even less then upstart gary shaw pays some of his beggining stars??? YOU dana, ARE A PIECE OF (expletive)! Things will catch up with you one day, you ll see…

me neither, but i would prefer espn even thogh its on cable. i think it would be taken more seriuosly as a sport and not a spectacle on espn. i think most hardcore mma fans are big fans of other sports like the nfl,nba mlb etc. so i think some of their fans would take more interest in mma and there would be alot more seriuos discussion about it on all the sports talk shows like mike and mike, around the horn and pti. jim rome already gives the sport alot of coverage and would probably give more if it were on espn. maybee it force zuffa to be more open about their finances like contracts and paydays and free agents like other sports do.
