UFC heavyweight newcomers, Cain Velasquez (2-0) and Brad Morris (10-2), will hook ‘em up at UFC 83: “Serra vs. St. Pierre 2″ at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, on April 19, according to UFC.com.
Velasquez is a former All American wrestler from Arizona State University who now trains at American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) in San Jose, Calif. He has been described by his training partners such as Jon Fitch and Josh Koscheck as a talented prospect who will open some eyes when he enters the Octagon.
He has jumped right in the fire with his two professional bouts for well-known promotions such as Bodog Fight and Strikeforce. Both of those contests ended via technical knockout.
Morris is a native of Australia who has been competing in mixed martial arts for more than five years. He has a nice mix of submissions and (technical) knockouts to his credit, making this a dangerous fight for Velasquez.
Kristof Midoux was the last person to challenge Morris under the Bodog Fight banner, and he didn’t make it past round two. Morris will look to extend his win streak to four when he takes on Velasquez.
UFC 83 features the main event between UFC Welterweight Champion, Matt Serra, and interim UFC Welterweight Champion, Georges St. Pierre.

Should be interesting… A lot of MMA fans don’t pay attention to the “non mainstream” fighters, but we’ve seen some pretty serious guys come out of the woodwork…
im disappointed with this card, even tho im goin to it.
the free fight night in april is 10x better. i wish they would’ve put together a couple better match-ups.
cote vs. franklin would’ve been good.
Charles McCarthy?? C’mon!
I like Belcher, but he has an easy fight. It does nothing for him.
Nate Quarry? C’mon! I thought he died against Franklin…and he got lucky against pete sell.
the only good match-up (besides gsp-serra) is Clementi vs. Stout.
Brad Morris is a bad dude, and I am very interested to see this AKA prospect in Cain.
Should be an interesting fight.

Are you kidding me? The Mac Danzig/Mark Bocek fight has potential to be awesome. Nate Quarry/Kalib Starnes could be a war. And I would much rather see Franklin/Lutter. Why would Franklin fight Cote. Cote doesn’t deserve Franklin yet. Cote has got to avenge his loss to Chris Leben before he fights any top guys. Leben is on a tear…
I would’ve liked to see Bisping fight a bigger guy, but who am I to downgrade McCarthy. The world of MMA has taught us one thing…Anyone has a chance at victory.
The card is awesome as usual. Stop complaining. Some of us don’t even have a fight to go to.
UFC come back to FLORIDA!!
Cote vs Franklin lol I still can’t get over that. Only stryker and Cote think Cote is the best MW.

I never said Cote is the best MW. Im not even a big Cote fan, i thought he was gonna get knocked out by McFedries. But he is on a small streak, and it would make great hype in Canada to have a canadian MW face the top contender.
Bocek/Danzig “could” be a good fight. I would like to see bocek submit danzig, but bocek looked bad in his win over doug evans - couldnt pass guard.
Quarry/Starnes has more potential.
Franklin/Lutter - Lutter can’t stand with Franklin at all. and Franklin CAN survive the ground with lutter.
Clementi/Stout - potential for fight of the night. two guys who bring it - can strike, and have “some” ground.

That’s the problem with this card. “One good fighter in every fight” I guess it is to compliment the theme of the main event: UFC 83 Lopsided!
It would be better to say that the quality of the matches is poor not the fighters. Is there really such a thing as a “bad” fighter at this stage in the game?
Anyone know when THales Lietes will be returning to action? I think he will be a force in the future!
As for this heavyweight match up. I am very interested to see it. Joe Silva has been bringing in all kinds of exciting “no name” fighters to the UFC: Chris Wilson, Boetsch, Houston Alexander, Bilekheden…. So I am very interested to see, this match up! AKA produces some great fighters!
What the UFC should have done was match up Bisping vs. Belcher!

I agree with you man this guy is a freakin idiot, he doesnt know what hes talking about
these are the kind of guys that they should be giving to Lesnar. people with the same relative MMA experience.
