Chael Sonnen i think will eat Paulo Filho up. It would be nice to see Filho win, it was kind of funny seeing Sonnen yell as a verbal tap out…NICE MOVE FILHO! But filho was getting whopped the whole time.

I think its funny how everyone says how great Big Nog is because he takes his beating and just waits for his opponenent to make a mistake and then he capitolizes. Fihlo does the samething and he gets crap for it. It was a good stoppage the ref’s #1 priority is the saftey of the fighters. Sonnen looked like he was in so much pain that he couldn’t tap or submit. Silva and Paulo are in the same camp and very good friends. In interviews they have both said they do not want to fight each other but if it was a fight the fams really wanted and the money was worth it they would do it.

Aren’t Silva and Filho in the same fight camp? They might not fight each other if that is the case. I know MAchida is with Silva, I am pretty sure Filho is to. Same camp battles rarely happen. Besides, Slva would crush him like a egg. He has 100 times the stand up ability-we all know Filho is not most impressive on his feet and Silva has got an incredible ground game. That fight would not last 2 rounds. Silva would have him eating knees relativly quickly.[/quote]

ya, i was really looking forward to silva/filho in the future, but if he puts on another awful performance against sonnen i have no doubt silva would smash him.. and no i am not one of the fans that think a fighter is washed up or done if they have a couple bad fights in a row, i just think silva in his prime against filho during his “mental problems” would be bad

They implemented rules for a reason. They got away from the old school MMA no rule no hold barred for a reason. So they can get these fights sanctioned. Filho was ripping his arm out. And the only reason he does not have a nurse wiping his ass for him and using his left hand to maturbate(The Stranger, lol) instead of his right is because the ref stopped it. It was the same thing for Tim Sylvia when he fought Franlk Mir, he did not let a peep out but Mir broke that wing in half, the ref stopped. The ref is there to maintain the integrity and health of the fighters and the sport. People do stupid things when there adrenalin is going, like not tapping out while your arm comes out of its joint, hyper-extended at the elbow, or your skull happens to be hanging out above your eye. It has taken almost 20 years for MMA to become a legitimate and now the fastest rising sport in the world. It takes one foolish fighter or referee fighting through some pride issues, getting severly mamed, hurt, or worse yet killed in the ring to take the sport back into the dark ages of the early 90’s where noone will sanction these fights. I’ll be the first to admit that old school MMA with no weight classes and anything goes was great, but it sure would suck to only get one or two PPV per year because some meathead thought he could last in the ring another 20 seconds…
